Court ruling says not even US president can legalize torture: Abu Ghraib inmates 'allowed' to sue

A federal court has ruled in favor of four former Abu Ghraib detainees intending to sue a US military contractor for its alleged role in torturing them. The decision also said laws against torture apply to all branches of government, even the executive.

On Friday, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals overturned a former ruling that claimed torture to be a "political question" out of the court's hands. It also reinstated a lawsuit against CACI Premier Technology that alleges their employees abused and tortured four men during interrogations at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq in the early years of the Iraq occupation.

The ruling is a major breakthrough for the eight-year long lawsuit for the Abu Ghraib inmates who were told last June that legal action would involve second-guessing military officials in a war zone. Therefore, the judge believed that the claims could not be litigated in the judicial system.

Comment: How much longer will this case keep bouncing around the courts?!

Mishraq: ISIS torches sulphur plant, 1,000 suffer breathing problems

Nearly 1,000 people had to be treated for breathing problems after Islamic State terrorists set a sulphur plant ablaze in Mishraq, south of the Iraqi city of Mosul, Reuters reported, citing hospital sources. Medics at the hospital in Qayyara, which is located near Mosul, said that no deaths have been reported as a result of the blaze, but, according to an Iraqi official, two villagers close to the factory died after coming in contact with the toxic substance.

Iraqi commander Qusay Hamid Kadhem told AFP that Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) had set the sulphur plant near Mosul ablaze two days ago, causing the death of two civilians from the nearby villages. On Friday, a Reuters photographer reported seeing plumes of smoke coming from the plant filling the air with toxic gasses. Breathing in sulfur dioxide affects the lungs, causing severe breathing difficulties, according to the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR.)

US military officials confirmed on Saturday that winds had carried in fumes from the burning sulphur plant, forcing US forces at Qayyarah West Airfield near Mosul to use protective masks. "The winds have actually shifted south, so, as a precautionary measure, the troops at Qayyara West have donned their personal protective equipment - continuing their operations at this point in time," an official told Reuters, speaking on condition of anonymity.

There are about 5,000 US troops in Iraq, and the Qayyarah West Airfield, formerly known as Saddam Airbase, is the key strategic launch-pad for sorties supporting the Iraqi-led operations to retake Mosul from Islamic State.

Trump's election rigging claim is called 'whining': Russia's fictional election rigging is cause for war

American voting and Putin
The hypocrisy of the US election rigging narrative.

Donald Trump is saying that the US main stream media and DNC-Clinton Campaign machine are rigging the elections.

We know that the main stream media (with the exception of a part of FOX News) is completely in the tank for Hillary.

President Obama has publicly come out to throw his full support behind Hillary. Every fortune 100 CEO has donated to the Hillary Clinton campaign, and nothing to the Trump campaign.

Wikileaks has exposed without a shadow of a doubt that the entire establishment elite of the US is behind Hillary Clinton, and doing everything in their power to put Hillary in the White House.

The Elite's Relentless War on Free Speech, Free Press, Free Internet - and the Truth

free speech
"A populace deprived of the ability to separate lies from truth, is no longer capable of sustaining a free society."
- Journalist Chris Hedges
As the ruling elite pushes its rigged election, forcibly cramming crime boss Hillary down our gullets against the people's choice or will, so goes suppression of information rapidly shutting off the truth spigot, leaving Americans high and dry, starved of honesty by their oligarchic owned and controlled crime cabal government. Signs that the globalists are panicking are visible every day as they aggressively provoke World War III timed with the collapse of their morally and financially bankrupted global economy. And with two thirds of Americans living from paycheck to paycheck, the future does not look bright.

The latest over-the-top signs reflecting the globalists' aggressive desperation are the UK's RT bank closing its account and cutting off Julian Assange's internet access in London. It's bad enough that the WikiLeaks founder has effectively been imprisoned for over four years trapped in the Ecuadorian Embassy, but now he's apparently been cut off from internet contact with the outside world and media in Ecuador is swimming with the sharks eagerly urging reconsideration of his asylum status.

These two significant and most definitely intertwined events coming hours apart out of London are just the beginning of the elite's major assault on free speech and freedom of the press, in effect putting a final cap on the truth ever leaking out to a truth-starved world. The globalists' fixation on absolute power and control is currently manifesting as deep state's invasive silencing of any and all voices of truth and dissidence, starting with these two biggies. Completely cutting off the world's free access to accurate information from legitimate sources still authentically reporting world news events and developments past and present is the rulers' highest priority right now on the eve of the election. And with both WikiLeaks and RT in their crosshairs, the elite has fired its first major shot across the bow. All totalitarian regimes suppress dissent and truth becomes their biggest enemy.

Duterte blasts EU, clarifies Philippines-U.S. 'separation' as independent foreign policy

duterte

The outspoken Philippine leader backtracked on claims of a 'separation' from the United States, a day after making the announcement in Beijing. He unleashed his sharp tongue on the EU, however.

Duterte initially made the remarks at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Thursday, during a four-day state visit to China.

"In this venue, your honors, in this venue, I announce my separation from the United States," he told an audience of Chinese and Philippine businesspeople. "Both in military, not maybe social, but economics also. America has lost," the Philippines president said.

"I've realigned myself in your ideological flow and maybe I will also go to Russia to talk to [Vladimir] Putin and tell him that there are three of us against the world - China, Philippines, and Russia. It's the only way," he added.

Comment: Duterte's independent course for the Philippines is potentially huge, not just for the country, but for the region. And the U.S. is not pleased. See: Twilight of the U.S. Empire gives way to Philippine Rebirth

Gordon Anglesea faced claims for quarter of a century that he preyed on boys at young offenders' centre and children's home

A former police superintendent has been found guilty of sexually abusing boys in the 1980s at a Home Office attendance centre for young offenders and at a children's home.

Gordon Anglesea, 79, becomes the highest-profile offender brought to justice through the National Crime Agency's Operation Pallial, which has been investigating allegations of widespread and organised child abuse in north Wales.

Judge Geraint Walters gave Anglesea bail but made it clear he would be jailed when he is sentenced next month. Before leaving court, the judge said the defendant, a father of five, would have to sign the sex offenders' register.

A man in the public gallery overlooking the court shouted: "This is a great day for British justice! Thirty years we've waited for this."

Anglesea had faced claims for a quarter of a century that he preyed on young boys, and in the mid-90s was awarded £375,000 in damages after successfully suing news organisations that had linked him to abuse.

US/NATO-backed ISIS jihadists 'execute at least 284 Mosul civilians and children', sez CNN

Islamic State militants have allegedly executed at least 284 men and boys in the Iraqi city of Mosul and nearby villages. Jihadists, who had used them as human shields, dumped the victims' bodies in a mass grave, according to a report.

The victims, children among them, were all shot dead on Thursday and Friday, an Iraqi intelligence source, who asked to remain anonymous, told CNN.

Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) seized Mosul in June of 2014, when it was Iraq's second-largest city. The terrorist group's leader then turned it into a major military stronghold, and it is believed that between 4,000 and 8,000 IS militants are currently entrenched there, according to Reuters. An estimated 1.5 million people remain in the city.

Comment: Hmmm, CNN isn't a reliable source, so we can't take this at face value. It rather sounds like the West is hamming up the 'atrocity shock factor', but to what end? We know Western leaders protect ISIS, so it can't be to justify eliminating them. What then?

American military ops against Al-Nusra incongruous because US assists jihadists

Aleppo's Bustan al-Qasr, Syria

The US State Department blaming Russia for the situation in Syria makes no sense, as they have their own trainers on the ground working with jihadist Salafi groups which include Al-Nusra fighters, former Pentagon official Michael Maloof told RT.

State Department spokesperson John Kirby said the US army is not focused on fighting the terrorist group Al-Nusra in Syria, as its primary target is ISIS.

RT: The US acknowledges that Al-Nusra is a terrorist group, and yet does not consider defeating it a priority. What do you make of this?

Michael Maloof: It is not surprising, simply because we're providing arms to them indirectly through their sponsors, namely Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The problem is that we have troops on the ground who are helping to train elements such as Al-Nusra and other jihadi Salafist groups. It is not just me saying that. This actually was said by a unit commander of Al-Nusra - his name is Abu Abdul 'Aziz. He basically admitted that US arms are coming into Syria, they are coming indirectly, it is not being sent directly from the US. But US forces are training and assisting some of those forces namely Al-Nusra. So it would be incongruous for the US to be bombing Al-Nusra, when we have our own trainers on the ground working with many of these fighters.

Political Hypocrites Faking Outrage Over Trump Comments

Donald Trump
© ReutersRepublican U.S. presidential nominee Donald Trump reacts to cheers from supporters as he departs a campaign rally in Lakeland, Florida, on October 12.
Repelled by Donald Trump's p***y grabbing, Republican politicians are scattering like roaches exposed to strobe lights. (This just in: Many of the roaches are crawling back.)

Paul Ryan is "sickened" by Trump. Sickened by the image of p***y grabbing.

So is John McCain who pronounced Trump's behavior demeaning to women and said, "... impossible to continue to offer even conditional support for his candidacy."

Recall that McCain returned from captivity in Viet Nam and abandoned his first wife Carol, after a disfiguring accident left her five inches shorter. According to friends, McCain was appalled by Carol's changed appearance. In other words, McCain left the wife who held the family together when he was a war prisoner, the wife who endured 23 operations. Yet p***y grabbing is "demeaning" to women. Also recall John McCain's singing, "Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran" to the tune of "Barbara Ann." Yet p***y grabbing is "demeaning" to women.

There's nothing lower than a p***y grabber. Right.

Comment: It really is disgusting to hear warmongers and war criminals condemning Trump for his lewd comments when they are guilty of far worse. How is it that these men and women don't choke on their own hypocrisy?
