Inviting NATO to fight 'organized crime': A menace for Latin America

anti-Plan Colombia billboard
Imagine, Mr. Manuel Santos, President of Colombia, Nobel Peace Laureate 2016, for achieving a Peace Agreement with the FARC "rebels" (Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia - Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) - this same peace-loving Mr. Santos is inviting NATO to his country to help fight "organized crime". As TeleSUR reports, this could jeopardize the recently signed (the ink is not yet dry) Peace Agreement between the Government and FARC.

Within the last few days, at least two leaders of 'campesinos' (peasant farmers) were found killed. "False flag", as usual, with real people casualties? Provoking FARC to retaliate? - Which would be the end of the peace agreement.

Frankly, I never believed that the government was serious in negotiating peace, ending one of the longest civil conflicts', with the longest peace negotiations in recent Latin American history. A four-year peace process was supposed to end 52 years of the leftist FARC militia fighting in defense of the rural poor, countering an elite of the rich, mostly urban dweller and latifundios, against government forces with support of the US military stationed in Colombia.

Ankara says Obama's administration directly responsible for every Turkish soldier murdered by militants

Militant launch TOW
It came as a big surprise that Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has recently labeled the members of the US-led coalition as promise breakers and supporters of terrorists. According to the Turkish leader, this coalition provides support to various terrorist groups, including ISIS, YPG, PYD and Ankara has the evidence to back up that claim.

But what exactly offended Ankara so much? Over the past few days, Turkey has been suffering extremely painful defeats from the Islamic State in the Syrian city of Al-Bab. Previously the troops employed in the Euphrates Shield operation successfully taken western suburbs of Al-Bab and were planning to occupy the heights overlooking the city. However, ten days ago the "shield" cracked, when ISIS units opposed Turkish troops in a frontal assault, inflicting heavy losses upon the Turkish army. Radical militants report that in just one Turkey lost up to 70 soldiers and three modern tank. Immediately after the announcement ISIS started spreading videos featuring the destruction of Turkish armored vehicles. The Turkish General Staff announced that it lost 14 servicemen, 10 German manufactured Leopard tanks, an M-60 main battle tank, personnel carriers and a Cobra armored vehicle. The pictures that can be found now on the Internet depict Turkish armored vehicles severely damage by TOW missiles that in recent years have "suddenly" started appearing in the hands of ISIS radicals.

But nobody should be really surprised at this point, as Turkish media were reporting in late December that Washington was stepping up its weapons supply efforts to radicals via the Syrian Al-Hasakah Governorate. It's been noted that as the US Ambassador to Ankara, John Bass kept persuading Turkish reporters that Washington was not supporting militants directly, the airfield in the Syrian city of Rumeylan saw an ever increasing number of US transport planes landing. The payload that they were carrying would soon be transported by US helicopters to different parts of the country. According to Turkish journalists, the last large delivery of weapons occurred on the evening of 27 December. It is also been noted that weapons are being delivered to Syria via hundreds of trucks, carrying their deadly cargo from the Iraqi city of Erbil to the areas controlled by the Syrian Kurds.

We have seen various commentators noting that under the guise of military assistance to the Kurdish Peshmerga, the Obama administration is actively assisting various extremist groups in Syria by secretly supplying them to with all sorts of weapons, along with the so-called "advisers" in a bid to topple the legitimate Syrian government.

It's no coincidence that after the liberation of Aleppo, Syrian troops found stockpiles of weapons and explosives manufactured in the US, Germany and Bulgaria, including a large amount of anti-tank missiles.

A wheelchair-bound Algerian terrorist suspect with alleged links to Osama Bin Laden has won a 21-year legal battle to stay in the UK. The judge ruled that the threat of deportation had been bad for his mental health.

The government has repeatedly tried to expel the man, known only as 'G' for legal reasons, accusing him of helping send young British Muslims abroad to train as jihadists.

However, Justice Collins said that living under the threat of deportation for so long has affected him mentally, quashing the Home Office's refusal to give him indefinite leave to remain in Britain, according to the Telegraph.

'Zero evidence' Russia influenced US election - DNC needs to improve their IT security

There is "zero evidence" that Russia influenced the US presidential election, incoming White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer has said, adding that it would be "irresponsible to jump to conclusions" before receiving a final intelligence report.

When asked about the report" on Russian malicious cyber activity", released by the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Thursday in an effort to link Russia to hacks of Democratic Party organizations, Spicer noted that the 13-page report is first and foremost "a how-to manual for the DNC [Democratic National Committee] as to how they can improve their IT security."

"It talks about how they were a victim of spearfishing; how there needs to be more staff training; administrators' rights need to be changed; passwords need to be updated on a regular basis..." Spicer said on Fox News.

He noted that "whether or not they were hacked and they did anything is a completely different story" than the question of whether Moscow had an alleged influence on the presidential election.

"The way the mainstream media is playing this up is that [Russia] had an influence on the election," Donald Trump's team member said.

Although the report promised to provide "technical details regarding the tools and infrastructure used by the Russian civilian and military intelligence Services to compromise and exploit networks and endpoints associated with the US election, as well as a range of US government, political, and private sector entities," in reality, it offered nothing but evidence-free allegations and an abundance of disclaimers.

Israel will no longer return bodies of Hamas soldiers

Israel will no longer return the bodies of Hamas militants killed in clashes with the state, a move Hamas slammed as "barbaric."

The Israeli prime minister's office announced the decision January 1, a day after Hamas's release of a video showing a mock birthday party for missing Israeli soldier Oron Shaul. Israel believes Shaul and another soldier, Hadar Goldin, were killed in the 2014 Gaza war and that Hamas is holding their remains. They also believe Hamas to be holding two Israeli civilians who crossed into Gaza on their own.

More 'fake news' about Russia: The Moscow school closure and 'Russia hacked the Vermont grid'

Fake News Invasion
© True Publica Org
Though complaining of Russian disinformation and propaganda, the US media spread completely false stories about Russia being about to close the Anglo-American school in Moscow and having hacked into the Vermont electricity grid in just three days, though the first story originated with a US not a Russian source, and the second story would not have survived basic fact checking with the electricity utility involved.

In a Western media world where the words "Russia" and "fake news" are rapidly becoming conflated, it is interesting to note that two stories about Russia which gained unusual prominence in the Western media over the last few days were both false, and that Russia far from being responsible for either was the target of both.

The first of these stories concerned the Anglo-American school in Moscow.

Al-Qaeda sabotages Damascus water supply, attempts to disrupt Syrian ceasefire

Moderate rebel terrorist opposition Aleppo Syria
Al-Qaeda attempts to disrupt Syrian ceasefire and block preparations for Astana conference by stopping water supply to Damascus and by attacking other Jihadi groups. Meanwhile Western governments and the Western media stay silent.

As was bound to happen, Al-Qaeda in Syria is pulling out the stops to try to disrupt the Russian-Turkish sponsored ceasefire.

Al-Qaeda is in part doing it by attacking other Jihadi groups which have signed up to the ceasefire. The Iranian news agency Fars reports that there has been fierce infighting between Jihadi groups in Idlib, where Al-Qaeda is in control, whilst Al-Qaeda is continuing to block the evacuation of wounded Shia fighters and civilians from two Shia villages, whose evacuation was agreed as part of the package negotiated by the Russians, the Iranians and the Turks, which led to the withdrawal of Jihadi fighters and civilians from east Aleppo.

WikiLeaks vows to 'blow you away' in 2017 'showdown'

WikiLeaks has promised 2017 will be an even bigger year for leaks than 2016, which saw the whistleblowing site publish thousands of documents exposing US political secrets, covert trade deals and private communications from global leaders.

"If you thought 2016 was a big WikiLeaks year, 2017 will blow you away," WikiLeaks tweeted on Monday, giving no hints as to what may be in store.

The tweet also included a link to its website's donation page so people can help the site "prepare for the showdown."

Assad will not go, Syria to remain united under Russian-Turkish peace plan

assad kerry
Contrary to Turkish inspired media reports, there are no secret Russian-Turkish agreements to 'federalise" Syria, or to carve it up into "zones of influence", or for the removal from power of President Assad.

On 28th December 2016, the day before the Russian and Turkish Foreign Ministries communicated their ceasefire plan to the UN Secretary General and to the UN Security Council, a report appeared in Reuters which claimed that Russia and Turkey have come to a private understanding to divide Syria into "zones of influence".
