Moscow gives up attempting to convince US that all suicide bombings are bad

Nikki Haley
Meet the new creep, same as the old creep.
More than 30 people were killed in a new wave of suicide bombings in Damascus on Wednesday โ€” but Russia has abandoned all efforts to convince the U.S. to adopt a Security Council resolution condemning such attacks.

In response to the suicide bombings, the Russian Foreign Ministry released the following statement:
We condemn this terrorist crime, which is obviously timed to coincide with the Third International Meeting on Syria in Astana. We express condolences to the victims' families and wish a rapid recovery to the injured.

It should be noted that our attempts in the UN Security Council to adopt a resolution condemning the last large-scale terrorist attack in the Syrian capital on March 11 were not supported by several partners. We believe that the unwillingness to respond to terrorists killing Syrians with the same degree of unconditional condemnation with which the international community responds to terrorist attacks in other countries represents a double standard, which calls into question the commitment of those who apply this double standard to the cause of eradicating terrorism on the global scale. Such double standards encourage terrorists to commit new barbaric crimes and undermine efforts to separate the Syrian armed opposition from ISIS, al-Nusra and their accomplices.

We urge our partners to consider counter-terrorism efforts, in Syria or any other country, as a priority requiring special attention and international consensus, considering the tragic and destructive consequences that can result from any tolerance of this universal evil.

Comment: Unbelievable: U.S. says Russia's condemnation of Damascus bomb attacks 'unfair to suicide bombers'

Hillary Clinton is thinking about running for New York City mayor, according to a report by TMZ.

The celebrity gossip site reported Wednesday that a source who attended a small gathering with "some politically connected people" in New York last month said Clinton has not ruled out the possibility and is gauging interest in a run.

This is not the first time talk of a Clinton mayoral run has circulated since the former Democratic presidential nominee's defeat last November.

Former Acting CIA Director Michael Morell admits 'no evidence' of collusion between Trump and Russia, says Trump Dossier 'takes you nowhere'.

The 'Russiagate' scandal received another body blow today when Hillary Clinton's own pick for CIA Director admitted there was no evidence behind it.

Michael Morell, the former acting CIA Director, who would have been in line to become CIA Director if Hillary Clinton had won, has publicly admitted a point The Duran has repeatedly made: there is no evidence that Donald Trump and his campaign colluded with Russia.

Morell's comments, spoken to an event sponsored by the Cipher Brief, an intelligence web site, could not have been more forthright.

49 years ago today, the US slaughtered 500 unarmed men, women, & children

my lai
© The Free Thought Project
Forty-nine years ago today, in one of the most heinous and grisly acts against civilians during wartime, as many as 500 unarmed men, women, children, and the elderly โ€” nearly the entire population of the South Vietnamese hamlet of My Lai โ€” were slaughtered, raped, and brutally tortured by United States troops.

As the U.S. military continues to deploy boots on the ground in additional nations โ€” and as specters of totalitarianism and even greater militarism materialize as if pulled from a century ago โ€” the lessons of My Lai should not be relegated to history's ignominious dust bin.

History, after all, doesn't repeat itself โ€” ill-fated actions are carried out like dรฉjร  vu, by those who refuse to examine past mistakes as if they are sleepwalking through life.

"The My Lai hamlet, part of the village of Son My, was located in Quang Ngai province, which was believed to be a stronghold of the National Liberation Front (NLF) or Viet Cong (VC) and was a frequent target of U.S. and South Vietnamese bombing attacks," History.com explains. "In March 1968, Charlie Company [or, C Company] of the Americal Division's 11th Infantry Brigade received word that VC guerrillas had taken control of Son My. Led by Lieutenant William L. Calley, the unit was sent to the village on a search-and-destroy mission on March 16."

Comment: Colin Powell's participation in the cover-up of the My Lai massacre in Vietnam in 1968.
On March 16, 1968, a bloodied unit of the Americal division stormed into a hamlet known as My Lai 4. With military helicopters circling overhead, revenge-seeking American soldiers rousted Vietnamese civilians -- mostly old men, women and children -- from their thatched huts and herded them into the village's irrigation ditches.

As the round-up continued, some Americans raped the girls. Then, under orders from junior officers on the ground, soldiers began emptying their M-16s into the terrified peasants. Some parents desperately used their bodies to try to shield their children from the bullets. Soldiers stepped among the corpses to finish off the wounded.

The slaughter raged for four hours. A total of 347 Vietnamese, including babies, died in the carnage that would stain the reputation of the U.S. Army. But there also were American heroes that day in My Lai. Some soldiers refused to obey the direct orders to kill.

As the assistant chief of operations for the Americal Division (23rd Infantry Division), Major Colin Powell put the final nail into the My Lai cover-up.....

After that cursory investigation, Powell drafted a response on Dec. 13, 1968. He admitted to no pattern of wrongdoing. Powell claimed that U.S. soldiers in Vietnam were taught to treat Vietnamese courteously and respectfully. The American troops also had gone through an hour-long course on how to treat prisoners of war under the Geneva Conventions, Powell noted.
Oh, by the way, that was Powell's SECOND tour in Vietnam. His first tour consisted of the following activities:
In 1963, Capt. Colin Powell was one of those advisers, serving a first tour with a South Vietnamese army unit. Powell's detachment sought to discourage support for the Viet Cong by torching villages throughout the A Shau Valley. While other U.S. advisers protested this countrywide strategy as brutal and counter-productive, Powell defended the "drain-the-sea" approach then -- and continued that defense in his 1995 memoirs, My American Journey.

Putin spills the beans on the New World Order that Western media won't air

Putin
George Orwell once said that "in a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act." Since he offered those words decades ago, we have seen deceit become a pervasive and global problem, where the general public really has no clue what is happening around the world. The truth is, we live in a world of secrecy, and many prominent figures throughout history have been trying to tell us this for years. Even President Theodore Roosevelt warned us of the secret government, revealing that "behind the ostensible government sits enthroned an invisible government, owing no allegiance and acknowledging no responsibility to the people." (source)

(And he's not the only one. You can see similar quotes in a previous article we published here.)

More people became aware of the world of secrecy when Edward Snowden, a former intelligence contractor, leaked the very first documentation that proved the existence of clandestine black budget operations. These programs go far beyond surveillance and have no oversight from Congress. (You can read more about that topic here.)

Oklahoma State Senator arrested for soliciting sex with a minor

Moments ago, the Cleveland County District Attorney's Office announced three felony charges against State Sen. Ralph Shortey, including engaging in child prostitution. The charges come after Shortey was caught in a motel room last week with an underage boy.

According to the DA's office, Shortey has been charged with three felony counts, including,
  • Engaging in child prostitution
  • Engaging in prostitution within 1,000 feet of a church.
  • Transporting minor for prostitution/lewdness.
The investigation was launched when the teen boy's parents called police after finding disturbing text messages between him and their son. When police began their investigation into the texts, they found Senator Ralph Shortey in a motel room with the boy.

According to KOCO 5, on Thursday they obtained a search warrant that was served during the investigation. In the search warrant, police said they found the juvenile's Kindle Fire tablet that contained conversation between him and Shortey pertaining to sexual activities in exchange for money. The tablet was seized as evidence.

AIPAC funded $60K to architect of Trump's Muslim ban

Frank Gaffney
© YouTubeFrank Gaffney, founder and president of the Center for Security Policy
The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) has been noticeably quiet about the Trump administration's slowness to denounce the spike in anti-Semitic attacks and bomb threats, its nomination of an ambassador to Israel who described J Street as "worse than kapos," and its ties to ethno-nationalists like White House chief strategist Stephen K. Bannon and senior adviser Stephen Miller. But AIPAC has done more than just tolerate the U.S. tilt toward extreme and often xenophobic views. Newly released tax filings show that the country's biggest pro-Israel group financially contributed to the Center for Security Policy, the think-tank that played a pivotal role in engineering the Trump administration's efforts to impose a ban on Muslim immigration.

Comment: It is reasonable to suspect AIPAC of funding anti-Muslim bigotry. The more charged the issue becomes, the quicker and stronger the default occurs within the US to support Israel. Pavlovian conditioning to specific stimuli all round. AIPAC hired. Gaffney obliged. US hamstrung.

Republicans introduce bills authorizing new military force against ISIS

A new House bill was introduced that would create a new Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) against Islamic State and repeal AUMFs passed after September 11, 2001. A companion bill was introduced in the Senate last week.

"The Constitution grants Congress the power of declaring war, and we need to take that obligation seriously," House Representative Jim Banks said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Rather than continuing to fight ISIS under an authorization passed by Congress in 2001 to fight Al-Qaeda, it is time to pass a new authorization for the use of military force against ISIS. Congress should take a fresh look at the scourge of ISIS and evaluate the best strategy to defeat these radical extremists."

Former CIA officer: All CIA agents taught to lie - primary mission is to protect the agency

John Kiriakou
Former CIA counterterrorism officer John Kiriakou tells it the way it is.
CIA officials have loyalty to the agency above the Constitution?

Since the election of Donald Trump we have witnessed an unprecedented attack on his presidency carried out by forces within the intelligence community that have collectively become known as the "deep state".

For months intelligence operatives have continually leaked classified material to establishment media outlets who have then ran with the anonymously sourced information in attack piece after attack piece against the new president.

Laughably, some in the mainstream media have even insinuated that the deep state may not actually be real, a truly absurd notion especially when you consider that these same media outlets are openly getting information from the very operatives they are now claiming may not be real.

The existence of an entrenched "deep state" within the United States has long been known and now, with the Trump Administration under unprecedented attack by these forces, many patriots within the intelligence community are coming forward with even more confirmation that the deep state does indeed exist.

French parliament's Defense Committee member says EU should boost military role in Syria, work with Russia

Europe should enhance its military engagement in the fight against terrorist organizations in Syria, while coordinating its efforts with Russia, Jacques Lamblin, a member of the French parliament's Defense Committee, told Sputnik on Thursday.

"I belong to the defense committee, I believe that Europe, before the Russian intervention, has been too lightly engaged in Syria. The West should be more involved militarily in Syria cooperating with Russia," Lamblin said.

The French lawmaker, who is currently on a visit in Moscow along with his colleagues, noted a positive role Russia played in Syria, especially in the joint fight with the Syrian army against the Islamic State (ISIL or Daesh) jihadist group, outlawed in Russia.

"Russia was right to support the Syrian government and the Syrian Army in this fight... IS had been enlarging and expanding its influence, but after Russia got involved in Syria, Islamic State started to lose ground," Lamblin said.
