Wayne Madsen: Adelson, Israel behind Gulf Arab split

Doha, Qatar
Doha, Qatar
Casino magnate Sheldon Adelson and Israeli interests he funds are behind a series of computer hacking incidents that have resulted in a serious split between Qatar, the home of the U.S. Central Command's massive Al-Udeid airbase, and a bloc of Qatar's erstwhile Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) allies that include Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain.

WMR has learned from unimpeachable intelligence sources who monitor Adelson's worldwide activities that the casino tycoon has used the neoconservative and Washington-based Foundation for the Defense of Democracies and like-minded groups, all with close propaganda links to the Israeli government, to spread falsehoods attributed to the Emir of Qatar and the UAE government. The reason for the propaganda operation is to drive a wedge between Arab states that take a strong stand against Iran and those who maintain cordial ties to Iran.

What has led to the crucial divide between Qatar and its Arab neighbors are two hacking incidents. One was the hacking of the Qatar News Agency website and the alleged insertion of a "fake news" story reporting that Qatar's emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, told a group of Qataris in a speech that "there is no wisdom in harboring hostility towards Iran." Sheikh Tamim also reportedly had kind words for both Hamas and Lebanon's Hezbollah.

US 'Jihadi Express': Indonesia - Afghanistan - Syria - Philippines

It was late at night but the new Terminal 3 at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport outside Jakarta was still bustling with families and friends waiting for their loved ones returning from abroad.

My friend Noor Huda Ismail was just arriving from Singapore, and I decided to pick him up and discuss 'certain issues' with him in the car, on the way to the capital. Lately he and I were busy, awfully busy, and a one-hour journey seemed to be the most appropriate setting for the exchange of at least some essential ideas and information.

Huda could easily pass for the most knowledgeable Indonesian "expert on terrorism"; a Muslim man who grew up and was educated in the madrasahs that have produced some of the most notorious jihadi cadres in the country. Later he became the man who managed to 'get away' from the extremism, to study, and to finally become a respected filmmaker and a thinker.

On June 8, a United States-led coalition attacked a motorcade of pro-Damascus allied forces near the town of al-Tanf in southern Syria, destroying a tank and several artillery systems. This was the third time coalition strikes have occurred in the area.

On May 18, the US-led coalition struck pro-Assad fighters near al-Tanf in the area of an established de-confliction zone with Russia. The strikes occurred near al-Tanf, where US' and British special operations forces have been training Syrian rebel fighters near the border with Iraq and Jordan. The second similar incident took place near al-Tanf on June 6.

The Syrian government forces have reached the border with Iraq after fighting against Daesh terrorists near al-Tanf in the country's south after Damascus' allies had been bombed by the US-led coalition for the third time in the area, the Syrian Army's command announced.

The news comes after on June 8, the US-led coalition bombed pro-Damascus forces near al-Tanf in the area of a deconfliction zone following an alleged attack by a combat drone resulting in no coalition forces' casualties. This was the third attack by the coalition on Damascus' allies in the area. The coalition targeted a drone and trucks with weapons.

"Units of our [Syrian] armed forces with the support of allied forces... were able to reach the border with brotherly Iraq northeast of al-Tanf and establish control over a large number of strategic positions in the Syrian steppe," SANA news agency reported citing the Syrian army.

It's not terrorism when we do it: US drops chemical weapons on Raqqa - admits it, gives facile excuse - to "screen and mark" targets

The outrage and empathy on behalf of the civilians in Syria that was expressed by politicians and media personalities alike when they found an opportunity to blame a chemical attack on Assad's government was a distant memory this week. Instead, reports that a US-backed coalition dropped a cluster of airstrikes containing illegal chemicals on a city housing 200,000 people was almost completely ignored by western media.

The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) broke into the Islamic State-held city of Raqqa for the first time on Tuesday. While popular outlets such as Reuters reported that "as artillery and coalition aircraft pounded targets in the city, SDF fighters moved in small groups into the district," there were some key aspects they appeared to leave out.

International outlets and witnesses on Twitter noted that some of the airstrikes resembled cluster bombs or white phosphorus, both of which are internationally banned on residential areas.

Update: US-Led Coalition Explained Why It Used White Phosphorus in Syria's Raqqa
The US-led coalition uses white phosphorus to screen and mark targets in Raqqa during the operation to liberate the Syrian city from the Islamic State terrorists (banned in Russia), Operation Inherent Resolve spokesperson told Sputnik on Friday.

"As a matter of policy the Coalition does not discuss the employment of specific weapons and munition usage; however, in accordance with the law of armed conflict white phosphorus rounds are used for screening, obscuring, and marking in a way that fully considers the possible incidental effects on civilians and civilian structures," the spokesperson said.

The US has drafted in special forces to assist the Philippines Army in an advisory capacity as the battle intensifies to regain control of the southern city of Marawi, under occupation by Islamic State-affiliated militants.

The Philippines military suffered heavy losses in a 14-hour gun battle on Friday in the city that killed 13 soldiers and left 40 wounded in "intense" close-quarter combat.

"They are not fighting. They are just providing technical support," Joint Task Force Marawi spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Jo-Ar Herrera told a news conference in Marawi City. A US P3 Orion surveillance plane is now operating in the skies above the city, according to local media.

Top Brazil court leaves President Temer in office over alleged illegal 2014 campaign funds

Brazil's top electoral court has voted against removing President Michel Temer from office over allegations of illegal campaign financing during the 2014 presidential election, when he was Dilma Rousseff's running mate for vice-president.

The Superior Electoral Tribunal, known as the TSE, voted 4-3 against annulling the result of the election that saw Rousseff elected as president and Temer as vice-president.

Temer, 76, who replaced Rousseff when she was impeached last year, is being investigated separately for corruption and racketeering. There have been calls for the center-right leader to go.

"We cannot be changing the president of the Republic all the time, even if the people want to," the court's chief judge, Gilmar Mendes, who backed the impeachment of Dilma Rousseff, said on Friday, as cited by Reuters.

"There are serious proven facts, but not enough to annul the mandate," he added, according to AFP.

Oliver Stone on upcoming documentary: 'I challenged Putin the best I could'

© Showtime/YouTubeOliver Stone interviews Russian President Vladimir Putin.
During his 19 hours of face-to-face conversations with Vladimir Putin, Oscar-winning director Oliver Stone posed some challenging questions that enabled the Russian president to reveal his often misinterpreted character to the public.

"I'm here to get Putin to talk. Let him talk, If I can encourage him to talk by having an empathetic ear, that is the reporter's way. I'm also a dramatist. I'm encouraging my actors to be better. To say more. To give me a performance," Stone, the maker of the 'The Putin Interviews' documentary, told the New York Times.

The most recent interview, recorded in February after President Trump assumed office, touched on allegations of Russian interference in the American presidential election and the hysteria that exploded in the Western media over these unproven claims.

The Philippines army is calling on Facebook to shutter dozens of accounts it claims are used by Islamist militants to spread misinformation and propaganda about the ongoing battle for Marawi City in the south of the country.

The military believe a total of 63 Facebook accounts are being used by the Maute local terrorist group and its sympathizers.

"They are spreading lies, they are spreading misinformation and they are creating more problems in our fight against the terrorists," spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Jo-Ar Herrera told a news conference in Marawi Friday, according to Reuters.

Seth Rich investigation: Could it expose reality behind 'Russia elections hacking?'

Seth Rich
© Metropolitan Police DepartmentSeth Rich was killed on July 10, 2016 in Northwest D.C.
Russian President Vladimir Putin was asked by Megyn Kelly of NBC about the "alleged" Russian interference in the U.S. elections and said that the U.S. intelligence agencies "have been misled," Putin said that "they aren't analyzing the information in its entirety. I haven't seen, even once, any direct proof of Russian interference in the presidential election."

However, the mainstream media (MSM) and the Democrats continue to point the finger at Russia for hacking the email servers from the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and obtaining additional emails from John Podesta, the former chairman of the Clinton presidential campaign who also served as counselor to President Barack Obama and as chief of staff to President Bill Clinton. The emails were sent to Wikileaks exposing the DNC's plot to undermine the Bernie Sanders campaign. The DNC still blames Russia for Hillary Clinton's loss in the 2016 U.S. presidential election to Donald Trump, but that is the furthest from the truth. Revelations from Rod Wheeler, a private investigator hired by Seth Rich's family to investigate his murder and Kim Dotcom who says that he was in contact with Seth Rich has opened the Pandora's Box which I will explain shortly.

We don't know who killed Seth Rich and we're not going to speculate on the matter here. But we find it very strange that neither the media nor the FBI have pursued leads in the case that challenge the prevailing narrative on the Russia hacking issue. Why is that? Why is the media so eager to blame Russia when Rich looks like the much more probable suspect?
