The psychopathic discourse of war and doublethink. "When the lie becomes the truth"

Assad Obama
Since the attacks of September 11, we are witnessing a transformation of the way the media report the news. They lock us in the unreal. They base truth not on the coherence of a presentation, but on its shocking character. Thus, the observer remains petrified and cannot establish a relation to reality.

The Example of Syria

The media are lying to us, but at the same time, they show us that they are lying. It is no longer a matter of changing our perception of facts in order to get our support, but to lock us in the spectacle of the omnipotence of power. Showing the annihilation of reason is based on images that serve to replace facts. Information no longer focuses on the ability to perceive and represent a thing, but the need to experience it, or rather to experience oneself through it.

From Bin Laden to Merah, through the "tyrant" Bashar al-Assad, media discourse has become the permanent production of fetishes, ordering surrender to what is "given to see." The injunction does not aim, as propaganda, to convince. It simply directs the subject to give flesh to the image of the "war of civilizations". The discursive device of "War of Good against Evil," updating the Orwellian doublethink process must become a new reality that de-structures our entire existence, of everyday life in global political relations.

According to BuzzFeed, which cites three anonymous sources, Russia is reportedly recalling Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, the man who dared to do his job and talk to US politicians and visible public figures, and who according to The Hill had "emerged as a focal point in the FBI probe into Russia's election meddling." While the Kremlin has not confirmed the report, BuzzFeed adds that Kislyak is scheduled to leave Washington next month, following a July 11 going-away party at the St. Regis Hotel, two blocks away from the White House.

Kislyak, 66, had been reported to be heading to New York to lead Russia's delegation at the United Nations. If confirmed, his return to Russia will mark the end of his 10-year tenure as Russia's leading diplomat to the United States and makes him another casualty of the growing controversy over the Russian activity.

Israeli strikes in Golan Heights
For the third time in three days, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) has attacked the Syrian forces amid their clashes with the terrorist group Al Nusra Front.

According to the sources of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), the Israeli jets struck the position of the NDF Golan Regiment at six o'clock in the morning on Monday.

It shall be noted that the IAF targeted the area, more particularly a bridge, which was liberated by the Syrian National Defense Forces (NDF) a day before from the hands of Al Nusra Front terrorists.

The Israeli raids resulted in deaths of 2 NDF soldiers (3, according to some sources), while another 3 were left wounded.

Former CIA agent waxes nostalgic for 'era of Saddam' - conveniently forgets why he's gone

A former CIA operative has expressed a longing for the Saddam era. So why is America suddenly arguing on behalf of oppression as a safeguard against terrorism, at a time when both Iraq and Syria are making such significant advances against militants?

Why the sudden nostalgia over long-gone dictators when so much effort, rhetoric, and theatrics were spent on the need for war over a decade ago?

I will recall here the words of the late President Hugo Chavez before the United Nations General Assembly and argue that I too can "smell sulfur" in that new American volte-face.

Moscow would respond if the US pulled out of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF), a senior Russian senator said following a media report on Washington's possible withdrawal from the nuclear arms control deal.

"It's a pretty ridiculous move from the point of view of security of America's allies and the US itself," Konstantin Kosachev, head of the upper house Committee for International Relations, said. The statement came following a report published by Politico, which says that "leading Republican hawks are pushing legislation to compel President Donald Trump to take steps to develop new missiles" which would be "the first steps to jettisoning what is known as the INF treaty."

Kosachev said that Russian counter-measures would "undoubtedly" follow the decision, adding that Russian medium-range missiles located in the European part of Russia would become "strategic from the point of view of targeting Europeans."

Russia has only one percent of its chemical weapons stockpile left. The rest has been destroyed, according to the head of the country's Federal Administration for the Safe Storage and Destruction of Chemical Weapons, Major General Valery Kapashin.

Some "99 percent of the chemical weapons stored in Russia have been destroyed," the high-ranking official said.

The remaining 400 tons of weaponized chemicals is currently "at the last facility in operation to store and destroy the chemical weapons, in the Kizner village in the Udmurt region," Kapashin added.

Consequently, Russia meets the conditions stipulated in the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), which it joined 20 years ago.

Countries around the world are advancing their ballistic and cruise missile technologies, and increasing potential threats towards the US, according to a new Pentagon report seen by Bloomberg.

The report, conducted by the National Air and Space Intelligence Center and Defense Intelligence Ballistic Missile Analysis Committee, says that the "last decade has seen a dramatic increase in ballistic missile capabilities to include accuracy, post-boost maneuverability, and combat effectiveness."

It notes that ballistic missiles "can be deployed in silos, on submarines, surface ships, road- and rail-mobile launchers and aircraft."

Comment: Despite Washington's huge military budget, they are still complaining and will likely prompt for even more spending.
