CNN has just accused the Russian Ambassador to the US, Sergey Kislyak, of being a spy.According to a CNN front page
report dedicated to Jeff Sessions and his alleged ties to Russia,
Sergey Kislyak, who has served as Russia's Ambassador to the US since 2008, is apparently "one of Russia's top spies and spy-recruiters in Washington."How did CNN arrive at this conclusion you may wonder?
They were told this by unnamed "current and former senior US government officials." In other words, this is yet another example of a fake news story with ground-breaking allegations and zero evidence.
The spokeswoman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented the allegations on her Facebook
page:
"What do you think, is this the [mainstream] media's bottom or do they have where else to fall?"
Indeed, such allegations against another nation's ambassador are not only irresponsible, but they are dangerous. Clearly, this attack on Ambassador Kislyak, as well as high-level US officials who have been in contact with him (Flynn, Sessions) is a continuation of systemic attempts to derail any potential for US-Russia dialogue.
Any report containing serious allegations against high-level officials or other countries should either be accompanied by evidence or at least name sources. Otherwise, it simply can't be considered as anything other than fake news.
Comment: Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova further commented on the hysteria engulfing the mainstream media and the liberal left:
"What is going on in the Western, particularly in the US media, is just some manifestation of media vandalism."
"First of all, it's an attempt of total disinformation."
Sputnik News adds...
Mainstream media reports on contacts between Kislyak and Sessions are aimed to mislead public opinion in the US and the world, Zakharova said.
The work of diplomats is to develop contacts in the host country, Zakharova stressed.
The Duran
astutely points out:
"Perhaps the liberal left should expand this recent Russian hysteria to include firing anyone in the United States who speaks to anyone of Russian origin. You never know who may be a "Putin spy."
- Russian tourist visiting a McDonalds, fire the cashier for speaking with the Russian tourist.
- University professor speaking with a Russian student, fire the professor.
- Enrique Iglesias and Anna Kournikova? Enrique should be imprisoned as a Kremlin pop star stooge.
The insanity, and Russian racism, engulfing the "morally inclusive" liberal left, and morally reprehensible neocons, is not lost on Maria Zakharova."
Update: Video footage shows a CNN reporter who attended Zakharaova's weekly briefing in Moscow approaching the spokeswoman after the briefing, with Zakharova refusing to take the #fakenews reporter's questions seriously:
One realizes upon reading the article that the actions claimed never occurred. It was the usual; start a lot of legislation the last year in office so that you look good upon reflection. Bah! Humbug!
