US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley got creative in attacking Iran over its alleged lack of compliance with the nuclear deal, calling it a "scorpion" which can't help stinging. This is despite the UN and EU saying Iran honors the agreement.
"Today's meeting of the Security Council on the implementation of resolution 2231 is taking place against a backdrop of steady implementation, cooperation and progress," Jeffrey Feltman, Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, said on Thursday at a Security Council meeting on implementation of a UN resolution endorsing the July 2015 nuclear agreement.
Addressing the meeting, Feltman noted that all seven reports issued by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) which oversees Tehran's adherence to the deal since it took effect last January are "documenting continued implementation by Iran of its nuclear related commitment."

'Absolute fiasco': Kensington council shuts down Grenfell meeting after journalists demand access

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea's first cabinet meeting since the Grenfell disaster descended into chaos on Thursday, when a high court allowed journalists into the chamber. The council had barred the public and survivors from attending.

The meeting was branded an "absolute fiasco" after Tory council leader Nicholas Paget-Brown took the 11th hour decision to shut it down.

Paget-Brown said the meeting had been compromised by the presence of the press. It had originally hoped to keep the meeting private, but a high court order requested by the Guardian and five other newspapers forced the council to let the press in.

"We can't have an unprejudiced discussion in this room with the public inquiry about to take place if journalists are reporting and writing about it," he said.

US President Donald Trump and his South Korean counterpart, Moon Jae-in, presented a united front against the "reckless and brutal regime in North Korea" during a joint statement, but that solidarity did not extend to trade issues between the two allies.

The two presidents gave a joint statement from the White House Rose Garden on Friday, on the second and final day of a US-South Korea summit. Trump and Moon discussed the rising tensions with North Korea, regional stability and a six-year trade agreement between the two long-time partners.

"The era of strategic patience with the North Korean regime has failed, many years that it's failed and, frankly, that patience is over," Trump said.

"The North Korean dictatorship has no regard for the safety and security of its people or its neighbors. And has no respect for human life ‒ and that's been proven over and over again," he added, referring to the recent death of "our wonderful Otto Warmbier," a college student who was arrested for stealing a sign and sentenced to 15 years of hard labor by Pyongyang.

Comment: Reporters were anxious to get some photos during the visit causing Trump to have some remarks about them:

For 68 years NATO's failed to create a 'more peaceful world'

Nato
It is unreasonable to ask taxpayers to pay billions more dollars for NATO's budget because they get less and less peace, security and stability, says Jan Oberg, director of Transnational Foundation for Peace and Future Research.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said the bloc's security spending would see its biggest increase since 2014, by 4.3 per cent in 2017. This is a response to US President Donald Trump's criticism of NATO countries failing to increase military budgets.

Stoltenberg also said the alliance has combat-ready forces along Russia's border.

A US government watchdog chastised the State Department for not being able to accurately track the more than $32 billion spent annually on foreign aid. The department will see drastic cuts to its foreign aid budget under Trump's budget proposals.

A report released by the State Department's Office of the Inspector General (OIG) on Friday said the Department of State is not able to "obtain timely and accurate data necessary to provide central oversight of foreign assistance activities and meet statutory and regulatory reporting requirements."

Congress annually appropriates more than $30 billion to the department and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) for their efforts to support US policy objectives around the world, including security, public health, humanitarian relief, and nonproliferation.

"The overriding message to them was stay in control of your own destiny."

Hillsborough Justice Campaign (HJC) members have travelled to London to pledge their support to families of the Grenfell Tower disaster.

The Walton Breck Road group's representatives recently visited west London and spoke with relatives of the 80 people who were killed in the massive high-rise inferno.

It comes as the HJC described Wednesday's charging decisions over Hillsborough as "a really great example of how a grassroots campaign, where people stand solid, can reverse decisions and make progress, when the state lets them down."

Spokeswoman Sheila Coleman told the ECHO: "The HJC was relentless in the dark years when nobody was doing anything, when there was no press coverage, the HJC continued to raise the profile of the injustice.

"We would hope that that people power, which is what it was, will act as a support and incentive to the Grenfell Tower families.

Comment: The families and supporters of the Hillsborough victims have shown incredible dignity, compassion, tenacity and courage in their 27 year long quest for justice, in spite of British governments, the police force and some newspapers treating them with utter contempt.

CNN "selectively edited" panel focus group to discredit Donald Trump.

Project Veritas' newest video features Jimmy Carr, the Associate Producer for CNN's New Day attacking President Donald Trump and admitting that CNN has a left-leaning bias.

When asked by a Project Veritas undercover journalist if CNN is impartial, Carr plainly responded, "In theory."

The second part of the Project Veritas video features a "New Day" focus group segment meant to "grade Trump's performance", selectively edited to push an anti-Trump agenda, omitting hours of focus group tape to present narrative that supported CNN's left leaning ideology.

US offers 'millions of tons of coal for Ukraine' but there's a catch

President Trump has announced that Kiev has requested "millions and millions of metric tons" of coal from the US, and that the US was prepared to sell it. Speaking to Sputnik, energy expert Alexei Belogoryev explained that any US-Ukrainian coal contract would have one very important nuance: the Ukrainian government wouldn't be paying for it.

In a speech at the Department of Energy in Washington, DC on Thursday, Trump spoke about the prospects for expanding US coal exports. According to the president, the US is ready to sell its coal to Ukraine, and to other countries around the world.
"Ukraine already tells us they need millions and millions of metric tons [of coal] right now and there are many other places that need it too," Trump said. "And we want to sell it to them and everyone else all over the globe who need it," he added.
The issue of coal supplies was one of the main topics discussed during Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko's visit to Washington last week. Following his talks with US officials, the Ukrainian leader said that Kiev was 'excited' about the possible purchase of two million tons of coal from Pennsylvania.
