Airstrikes, apparently conducted by the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen, have killed up to 14 civilians, including six children, witnesses on the ground report.

The attack targeted the Faj Attan area on the southern outskirts of Sanaa and also reduced two buildings to rubble, Reuters cites local sources as saying. The bodies of several children, who appear to be as young as 10, have been recovered by rescuers, the agency said.

According to AP, eyewitnesses say that at least 14 civilians were killed in the early morning airstrikes, and the death toll is expected to rise as rescuers pull more victims from the rubble.

Some notes on Trump, the military junta running Washington and other observations

Trump military
According to a 1950s political theory The Structure of Power in American Society is mainly build on three elite groups, the high military, the corporation executives and the political directorate. (The "political directorate" can best be described as the bureaucracy, the CIA and their proxies within Congress.)

On election day I noted that only the military had supported The Not-Hillary President. The corporate and executive corners of the triangle had pushed for Hillary Clinton and continued to do so even after Trump had won. (Only recently did the "collusion with Russia" nonsense suddenly die down.) I wrote:
The military will demand its due beyond the three generals now in Trump's cabinet.
That turned out to be right. A military junta is now ruling the United States:

Is Qatar chumming up with Iran to create a new block against Saudis?

Commenting on Qatar's recent statement that it decided to return its ambassador to Tehran and "strengthen ties in all fields" with the Islamic Republic, Iranian political analyst Hassan Hanizadeh explained to Sputnik Iran what this move might actually signify.

On Wednesday, the Qatari Foreign Ministry announced that it had decided to return its ambassador to Tehran after he was recalled in January last year, when Saudi Arabia cut ties with Iran. Riyadh then accused the Islamic Republic of failing to protect its embassy in Tehran and consulate in Mashahd against demonstrators who were outraged by Riyadh's execution of Shi'ite Muslim cleric Nimr al-Nimr.

"Qatar announced that its ambassador to Tehran will return to resume his diplomatic duties," Reuters quotes the Qatari foreign ministry's information office as saying in a statement in Arabic on its website. It added that Doha wanted to strengthen ties in all fields with the Islamic republic.

Russian Foreign Minister says the new US strategy for Afghanistan makes it possible to contact Taliban without preconditions that they must meet.

The new US policy on Afghanistan allows for contacts with the Taliban no strings attached, while Russia's contacts with the terrorist group comply with UN rules, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Thursday.

"If I understood the new strategy of the United States correctly, it allows contacts with the Taliban with no prior conditions that they must meet," Lavrov said at a press conference.

The recent surge in US Navy activity represents a danger to the freedom and safety of navigation, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said, in response to a question on the dismissal of the US Seventh Fleet commander after a "series of incidents."

"Many people are very concerned about the frequent US military activities at sea, which damage the freedom and safety of navigation. We hope that the United States will pay attention to and properly handle this issue," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying told reporters at a regular press briefing, while commenting on the recent developments following the incident with the US destroyer the USS John S. McCain.

Erasing history: All 1,320 statues of Lenin pulled down across Ukraine

No statues of the former Soviet leader Vladimir Lenin have been left across Ukraine, the head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory, Vladimir Vyatrovich, said in an interview with Liga edition issued on Thursday.

"A total of 2,389 monuments have been pulled down, including 1,320 statues of Lenin. As far as we know, there are no more (statues of) Lenin in the cities - on the territory controlled by Ukraine," he said. According to Vyatrovich, some monuments may still have survived in certain Ukrainian villages or at enterprises. "The fact is that they have never existed in inventories, they can be dismantled only if they are spotted," he added.

Vyatrovich said statues made of plaster don't have any monetary or historical value, and were destroyed. Bronze busts have been either melted or went to museums. He also said that before the end of the year, a museum of "monumental propaganda of the USSR" may be opened at Kiev's exhibition of economic achievements (VDNkH), where statues of Lenin will also be featured.

Comment: That's likely the real impetus of the Kiev regime; to remove all reminders of Ukraine's ties with Russia.

This has as much to do with 'anti-communism' as destroying reminders of the US civil war has to do with 'racism' and 'fascism'. Ironically, the same phenomenon in Ukraine's case is making way for the lionization of actual historical racist anti-semites and fascists.

The same anti-Russian mania has taken hold in Poland and the Baltic states, with the US and EU's tacit blessing.

Boy claiming father is US soldier threatens Trump in Daesh propaganda video

A Daesh propaganda video released Wednesday shows a 10-year-old boy claiming to be the son of American solider threatening airstrikes on US soil. The video has been shared widely on social media, though its veracity remains unconfirmed.

The "American boy," who says his name is Yousuf, calls US President Donald Trump a "puppet of the Jews" in the seven-minute video. He warns that "the airstrikes against [Daesh] will move to the West" and that "the war has just begun" against Washington and allied nations.

"My father's an American soldier who fought the mujahideen in Iraq," the boy says in the tape. He claimed to have arrived in a Daesh-controlled area of Iraq two years ago. "I didn't know much about Islam except the name. When me and mom came to the Islamic State two years ago, we started learning the correct Islamic creed," he says in the video.

US to hand Raqqa over to ISIS affiliates after "defeating" ISIS

US policymakers have recently announced plans to hand over control of the Syrian city of Raqqa to former Islamic State (ISIS)-affiliated officials, Newsweek would report.

In its article, "Syria: Arab Tribes Who Once Supported ISIS Turn to U.S. As Endgame Being In Raqqa," Newsweek reports:
A top U.S. diplomat in the fight against the Islamic State militant group (ISIS) has praised recent talks with Syrian tribal leaders slated to play a large role in governing Raqqa once the jihadis are expelled.

But the plan to create a careful balance of local power on the ground in Raqqa that will likely see former ISIS-affiliated officials ultimately in charge could cause a split between the U.S. and its Kurdish allies.
What appears to be ill-conceived policy is in fact the United States providing direct military protection to the remnants of terrorist organizations operating in Syria it has supported, including fighters of the so-called "Islamic State."
