Russian President Vladimir Putin believes that the North Korean nuclear crisis cannot be resolved by sanctions alone. He called on the international community not to drive Pyongyang into a corner.

"It is clear that it is impossible to solve the problems of the Korean peninsula by sanctions alone and pressure," Putin said at the economic forum in Vladivostok, following talks with South Korean President Moon Jae-In.

"One shouldn't give in to emotions and drive North Korea into a corner," the Russian leader stated, adding that now everyone needs to show composure, avoiding "steps that lead to an escalation of tension."

"Without political and diplomatic tools, it is very difficult to shift the situation" on the Korean peninsula, Putin noted.

"To be more precise, I think it is altogether impossible," he said, pointing out that Moscow and Beijing had created a road-map for a settlement on the Korean Peninsula that is designed to promote the gradual easing of tensions and the creation of a mechanism for lasting peace and security.

Make no mistake, the latest US 'stupid thuggery' is a sign of weakness, not strength

US agents raid Russian consulate
© МИД России / Facebook
For a while already the Russian diplomats have been openly saying that their American counterparts are недоговороспособны or "non-agreement capable". This all began under Obama, when Kerry flew to meet with Lavrov and declared 'A', then flew back to Washington, DC and declared 'B'. Then there were the cases in Syria when the US agreed to a deal only to break that very same deal in less than 24 hours. That's when the Russians openly began to say that their US colleagues are rank amateurs who lack even the basic professionalism to get anything done.

Now the US has slipped even lower: the Russians speak of US "hellish buffoonery" and "stupid thuggery".

Wow!

For the normally hyper-diplomatic Russians, this kind of language is absolutely unheard of, this has never ever happened before. You could say that the Russians are naive, but they believe that their diplomats should always be, well, diplomatic, and that public expressions of disgust is just not something a diplomat does. Even more telling is rather than call the Americans "evil" or "devious", they openly express their total contempt for them, calling them stupid, incompetent, uneducated and their actions unlawful (read Maria Zakharova's statement to that effect on Facebook).

So let me explain what is happening here how the Russians interpreted the latest US thuggery concerning the Russian Consulate in San Francisco and the Russian diplomatic annexes in Washington and New York.

Earlier today, Matthis was quoted as saying that any North Korea threat will be met with "massive response." His comments failed to make an impression on the market.

The Shamasne family of eight, including wheelchair-bound 84-year-old Ayyub and 75-year-old Fahamiya, were removed from their Sheikh Jarrah home early Tuesday morning after Israeli police officers, intelligence officers and special units arrived.

The Jerusalem Post reported the authorities were accompanied by three right-wing activists from the Israel Land Fund, run by Jerusalem City Councilman Arieh King, who were sent to take over the home.

Video footage from the eviction shows Mohammad Shamasne being stopped from getting back inside the house via the roof.

Russian Deputy FM: Russia's continued strength and independence despite sanctions annoys haters

There are people in the US establishment who hate Russia so much, that they cannot live without smearing it, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister told RT in an exclusive interview. He said the fact that Russia remains strong and independent despite all their efforts makes them really mad.

"Since 2013, we have endured 47 rounds of American sanctions imposed for this or that reason or for no reason at all. But Russia didn't become weaker due to them. We came through the negative period after the drop in energy prices and are back on the track of economic growth. This literally makes the people who hate Russia mad," Sergey Ryabkov said.

"There are plenty of those in the US - let me call things by their proper names," he added. "There is an entire group of politicians, commentators, reporters who simply cannot help mentioning Russia negatively in some context. Otherwise they would lose sleep. It's like a drug that requires higher doses to avoid withdrawal."

South Korea is moving swiftly to install four new Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) rocket launchers on its territory. They will be installed this week, despite protests from residents who have cited numerous concerns over the missile defense system.

US Forces Korea (USFK) will deploy the launchers at its new base in Seongju, some 300 kilometers (186 miles) south of Seoul, on Thursday, according to the South Korean defense ministry, cited by Yonhap news agency.

The ministry stressed the urgent need to mobilize the launchers amid growing threats from North Korea, which had its sixth and most powerful nuclear test on Sunday.

Although the ministry did not provide an exact time for the installation, a residents' group cited by Yonhap said it had confirmed the plan "through various channels," adding that it was due to take place at 2am local time on Thursday.

Russia's ambassador to US: 'US and Russia should stop diplomatic war and start real work'

Russian Deputy Defence Minister Anatoly Antonov

Moscow and Washington should focus on their common agenda, such as the fight against international terrorism, instead of diplomatic bickering, Russia's ambassador to the US, Anatoly Antonov, told RT, calling on the US to stop attacks on Moscow.

Despite the ongoing diplomatic spat between the countries that saw the US-Russia relations sink to one of the lowest points in history, Antonov said he believes the situation is mendable, provided there is enough will to cast aside political differences and work together.

"Frankly, I can't see any problem to deal with all outstanding issues with the United States. There is a necessity to find diplomatic will to stop diplomatic war, to stop attacks on Russia and to start real work," he told RT on Tuesday.

I will shoot you in front of your mother '- Israeli forces keep promise on threat to Palestinian youth

Almost one month after Israeli forces shot him seven times during a night raid in Deheisha refugee camp, 22-year-old Raed al-Salhi succumbed to his wounds on Sunday in Jerusalem's Hadassah hospital. His mother Zaynab heard the news as she sat at home in Deheisha, in the West Bank. She didn't even have a chance to say goodbye.

Israeli forces had warned Raed al-Salhi in late July that they were coming for him.

"They called him and told him 'we will shoot you in front of your mother'," Khaled, 24, one of Raed's four older brothers told Mondoweiss days before Raed died in the raid to arrest him, in the small living room of their home in the camp, located in the southern occupied West Bank.

Two weeks after the call, on August 9, 2017, Israeli forces shot Raed in the courtyard behind his home at 4 a.m, as his mother sat inside the family's living room just feet away.

The call came from 'Captain Nidal,' the pseudonym for the Israeli commander in charge of military operations in the area, infamous among Palestinians in the community for his alleged threats against camp youth.

After the call, which Raed hesitantly told his mother about, he knew it was only a matter of time before the soldiers came for him.
