'U can't touch this': Soros sheltering $18bn that American tax authorities can never touch

George Soros

Billionaire investor George Soros has funneled a sum bigger than the economies of Jamaica or Albania to a private charity he controls. The money can never be taxed by the US Internal Revenue Service.

The founder of the $26 billion Soros Fund Management, transferred $18 billion to his Open Society Foundations over the past several years.

As the Wall Street Journal specifies, when a person donates untaxed, appreciated assets to a private foundation, he may also hold up to 20 percent of its market value on his personal tax return, carrying forward this deduction for five years.

What is Google's Eric Schmidt so afraid of?

Eric Schmidt
OK, it's from Russia Today so you should of course not trust it but somehow this video and text and the man in it seems quite factual, not fake and obviously not omitted.

It documents that Eric Emerson Schmidt, the Executive Chairman of Alphabet - an American multinational conglomerate that owns a lot and among them Google - is working on "de-ranking" alleged propaganda outlets such as Russia Today, RT - the world's third largest television network - and Sputnik.

Who is Eric Schmidt?

On the Wikipedia link you can read more about Mr. Schmidt, one of the richest people on earth, an advocate of net neutrality, a corporate manager and owner of a lot, a collector of modern art, etc. And you can read about his heavy involvement with Hillary Clinton's recent campaign and the Obama administration and about Schmidt's involvement with the Pentagon, too.

Marriage of convenience: MBS's alleged hiring of Blackwater mercs to do his dirty work

blackwater

Mohamed Bin Salman's (MBS) royal Saudi coup is still in the making and its stories of mystery and intrigue are unfolding.

Some recent articles written about this unprecedented Saudi development have focused on whether or not MBS was actually desirous of instigating reform within the kingdom of sand and capable of putting together the infrastructure that made such reform possible and how. Other more cynical articles have cast little doubt on his ability to create any change and classified him as yet another puppet of the legacy that his grandfather King Abdul Aziz, the founder of the Saudi dynasty, has forged with the West. In between the two extremes, many perhaps waited in anticipation to see what was to happen next in the now quick-changing kingdom that did not change at all in essence for nearly a hundred years.

To put recent developments into perspective, we must objectively look at MBS's achievements and failures since his rise to prominence; with a special emphasis on the developments of the last few weeks.

MBS has failed to turn previous Saudi Government failed policy on Syria to his advantage by distancing his own legacy from it. If anything, the outcome of the Syrian opposition conference that was held in Riyadh was a farcical outcome of Saudi diplomacy. Not only did this conference coincide with the 20th of November 2017 Putin-Assad Sochi victory summit, but it is still "demanding" the removal of Syrian President Assad from power.

What is behind the military coup in Zimbabwe?

military coup in Zimbabwe
Long-roiling factional conflict within Zimbabwe's ruling ZANU-PF political party exploded last week in a military coup that quickly seized control of the government and state media. The coup was led by Commander of Zimbabwe Defense Forces Constantino Chiwenga, who is closely aligned with former vice president Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Emboldened by President Robert Mugabe's declining mental sharpness and physical health in recent years, Mnangagwa actively maneuvered to ensure that he would succeed the president. Mnangagwa served as one of Zimbabwe's two vice presidents. From that position, he and his supporters, known as Team Lacoste, became embroiled in a bitter struggle with younger party members who coalesced around Secretary of Women's Affairs Grace Mugabe, wife of the president, and whose group was known as Generation 40, or G40.

As early as 2015, Mnangagwa began reaching out to opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai to discuss plans to implement a five-year transition government, in which both men would play a leading role. The unity government would compensate and "reintegrate" dispossessed former owners of large-scale farms. Reuters obtained hundreds of internal documents from Zimbabwe's Central Intelligence Organization that revealed the plan. "Key aspects of the transition planning described in the documents were corroborated by interviews with political, diplomatic and intelligence sources in Zimbabwe and South Africa," reports Reuters. The same sources left open "the possibility that the government could be unelected." In one report, it was said that Mugabe feared that Mnangagwa would attempt to reverse land reform. [i]

Pepe Escobar: The Syria war and peace talks in Sochi

Sochi conference
© Sputnik/Mikhail Klimentyev via ReutersIran's President Hassan Rouhani together with his counterparts, Russia's Vladimir Putin and Turkey's Recep Erdogan, attend a joint news conference following their meeting in Sochi, Russia on November 22, 2017.
In a well choreographed Sochi summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin defines a peaceful future for Syria after the liberation of the country from militants

The main take away of the trilateral, two hour-long Russia-Iran-Turkey summit in Sochi on the future of Syria was expressed by Russian President Vladimir Putin:

"The presidents of Iran and Turkey supported the initiative to convene an All-Syrian Congress for national dialogue in Syria. We agreed to hold this important event at the proper level and ensure the participation of representatives of different sectors of Syrian society."

In practice, that means Russian, Iranian and Turkish foreign ministries and defense departments are tasked to "gather delegates from various political parties, internal and external opposition, ethnic and confessional groups at the negotiating table."

Putin stressed that "in our common opinion, the success on the battlefield that brings closer the liberation of the whole of Syrian territory from the militants paves the way for a qualitatively new stage in the settlement of the crisis. I'm talking about the real prospects of achieving a long-term, comprehensive normalization in Syria, political adjustment in the post-conflict period." So many red lines

While we're celebrating Thanksgiving, net neutrality and free speech just got massacred by Verizon

Boycott Verizon
I was deliberating what to write about this morning over my morning cup of coffee. A part of me wanted to write about Donald Trump as a way to compliment the article I wrote about Barack Obama two days ago. Yet another part of me wanted to steer clear of politics on Thanksgiving and write a more heart warming missive about the importance of being present for your family instead of buying presents. But after scanning the pages of the various corporate media headlines and realizing the scant attention that is being paid by the yellow journalists that populate mainstream media about the BIG news from last evening, I settled on the topic to write about today.

The BIG news from last evening is of course the fact that the FCC voted to end net neutrality and in the process take a Wall Street ax to free speech and free press. Endorsed by the Verizon lackey and corporate whipping boy Ajit Pai, the death of net neutrality is the latest attempt by plutocrats to have an absolute monopoly on both the creation and dissemination of information. Six corporations, and by extension six people, already own and have direct control of more than 90% of the news and data the public consumes. Not satisfied with Joseph Stalin like level of info dominance, corporations are intent on hijacking the public square by any means necessary and killing off independent journalists and non-affiliated media outlets in the process.

Comment: Net neutrality - yet another way in which the Puppet Masters are seeking to squelch any voice that isn't their own:

WaPo report claims US preparing for occupation of Syria, Russia outraged

US occupation

Russia continues to use strong language to criticise Washington's illegal actions in Syria.

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Maria Zakharova has slammed a report from the Washington Post which claims the US is planning to stay in Syria for "years" in an attempt to occupy and destabilise the country using the ethno-nationalist ambitions of their Kurdish proxies as a flimsy 'justification'. This is something which was categorically rejected by the members of the Astana Group which includes Russia, Iran and Turkey.

Today Zakharova stated in response to the report,
"They are there not only without permission from Damascus, but also in direct violation of the wishes of the Syrian government. In fact, what they are doing could be described as occupation".
She further stated,
"US Defense Secretary openly said on November 13 that the American troops will not leave Syria until progress is made with a political resolution. The conditions of which, we presume, the US wants to dictate arbitrarily. We have noted on numerous occasions that such statements cast a serious doubt about what the true goals of the US-led coalition are in Syria".
This represents yet a further strongly worded admonition of US policy in Syria from Russia, after Sergey Lavrov effectively told the US it is time to prepare an orderly withdrawal during statements made last week.

Comment: Believing its delusions and convictions of history, the US will thus repeat its choices.

Netanyahu: Israel is 'covertly' cooperating with Arab states

Netty
© unknownWar by way of deception.
Israel is covertly cooperating with some Arab nations, the Israeli PM has revealed, expressing hope that this practice will expand. Benjamin Netanyahu's revelation comes after IDF chief of staff said recently that Tel Aviv is ready to share intelligence on Iran with Saudi Arabia.

"Fruitful cooperation with Arab countries is usually covert," Netanyahu said at a memorial event for Israel's first Prime Minister David Ben Gurion Thursday. Those ties are "carried out constantly under cover of secrecy," he emphasized.

"I believe that these relations (with Arab states) will continue to develop and I believe that they will bear fruit for the expansion of the peace orbit," the PM said. "The residents of the neighboring countries will cooperate with us because otherwise they will have to cooperate with foreign slavers," he said as cited by the Ynet website.

Israel has been pursuing rapprochement with the Gulf monarchies and other Muslim nations in the region, citing common interests and threats, with Iran their top target. Israel currently has diplomatic relations only with Egypt and Jordan, while the rest of the Arab world maintains that any relations are possible only after the Israelis withdraw from the Palestinian territories captured in the Six-Day War of 1967.

Comment: 'Covert relations' with another country is a manipulation to further an agenda, particularly not open for criticism or debate. If these plans were truly covert, Israel would remain silent. Divulging this taunt is meant to stir the pot.

Israel is 'cleansing' thousands of Palestinians from Greater Jewish Jerusalem

Israel is putting in place the final pieces of a Greater Jewish Jerusalem that will require "ethnically cleansing" tens of thousands of Palestinians from a city their families have lived and worked in for generations, human rights groups have warned.

The pace of physical and demographic changes in the city has accelerated dramatically since Israel began building a steel and concrete barrier through the city's Palestinian neighbourhoods more than decade ago, according to the rights groups and Palestinian researchers.

Israel is preparing to cement these changes in law, they note. Two parliamentary bills with widespread backing among government ministers indicate the contours of Jerusalem's future.

One bill intends to annex to Jerusalem some 150,000 Jews in illegal West Bank settlements surrounding the city. As well as bolstering the city's Jewish population, the move will give these additional settlers a vote in Jerusalem's municipal elections, pushing it politically even further to the right.

Another bill will deny more than 100,000 Palestinians on the "wrong" side of the barrier rights in the city. They will be assigned to a separate local council for Palestinians only, in what observers fear will be a prelude to stripping them of residency and barring them from Jerusalem.

Meanwhile, a web of harsh Israeli policies, including late-night arrests, land shortages, home demolitions and a denial of basic services, are intensifying the pressure on Palestinians inside the wall to move out.

These measures are designed to pre-empt any future peace efforts, and effectively nullify Palestinian ambitions for a state with East Jerusalem as its capital, said Aviv Tartasky, a field researcher with Ir Amim, an Israeli group advocating fair treatment for Palestinians in Jerusalem. "What is going on is ethnic cleansing, without guns," Tartasky told Middle East Eye. "Israel hopes to get rid of a third of Jerusalem's Palestinian population through legislative moves alone."

Saudis bow to reality as Putin is crowned 'world's energy czar'

Russian President Vladimir Putin has become the most influential player in the Organization for Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) since Russia agreed with the cartel to cap crude output nearly a year ago.

The Russian leader is currently "calling all the shots," one senior OPEC official told Bloomberg on condition of anonymity. Russia, which is not even a member of the group, has reportedly stolen Saudi power which for many years was overwhelming when Riyadh could move crude prices with just a few words.

"Putin is now the world's energy czar," said Helima Croft, an analyst who directs global commodity strategy at New York-based RBC Capital Markets, as quoted by the media.

The Russian president's comment on the possible extension of the oil deal between OPEC and non-OPEC producers evoked a brief spike in oil prices ahead of the visit of King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia to Moscow. At the time Putin said the agreement could be prolonged until at least the end of 2018.
