Business as usual? UK navy 'gang bangs' exposed by whistleblower

British Royal Navy personnel have been accused of drug use and abusive behavior on board the nuclear submarine HMS Vanguard. The claims, published on Tuesday by the Daily Mail, stem from accounts provided by a whistleblower, who detailed incidents involving crew members.

The former member of the submarine's crew alleged that some sailors engaged in "gang bangs" while on duty, and that "the lunatics are in charge at the asylum."

"We had a rape list on my submarine. There was a 19-year-old kid [on it]. When he realised he was on it, he was s***ing his pants. Everyone wanted to rape him. He was petrified," the whistleblower told the paper.

The HMS Vanguard, which carries Trident ballistic missiles, is one of the UK's four Vanguard-class submarines. Any lapse in protocol on board such a vessel is considered a matter of significant national security.

A spokeswoman for the Royal Navy responded to the allegations, stating, "We do not discuss individual cases, especially if it could prejudice an ongoing investigation."

Comment: Such revelations might not help the recruitment drive or if it does, it would be of the wrong types of people. That the submarine in question carries nuclear missiles is not exactly comforting to hear.

China and Russia are moving forward hand-in-hand along the right path, Xi Jinping said in his message.

Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin have exchanged New Year greetings.

In his message, Xi extended his "best wishes to Putin and the Russian people," the State Council of the People's Republic of China said in a statement on Tuesday.

The Chinese leader noted that 2024 had marked the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Moscow and Beijing, which "have grown more mature and stable" over the intervening period.

"In face of accelerating transformation unseen in a century and a volatile international landscape, China and Russia always move forward hand-in-hand along the right path of non-alliance, non-confrontation, and not targeting any third party," he said.

Xi noted that he had met Putin face-to-face three times and maintained regular contact through other means this year, having "candid exchanges of views and reach[ing] broad consensus on bilateral relations and major international and regional issues of common concern."

Comment: The multipolar world is moving forwards despite the resistance from the old hegemonic 'rules based order'.

EU officials will claim ignorance of Israel's war crimes. A leaked document shows what they knew.

The internal EU document may strip European foreign ministers of "plausible deniability" in Israeli war crimes in Gaza, experts said.

European Union foreign ministers rebuffed a call to end arms sales to Israel last month, despite mounting evidence of war crimes — and, potentially, genocide — presented to them in an internal assessment obtained by The Intercept.

The contents of the previously unknown 35-page assessment could sway future war crimes trials of EU politicians for complicity in Israel's assault against Gaza, according to lawyers, experts, and political leaders.

The appraisal was written by the EU's special representative for human rights Olof Skoog and sent to EU ministers ahead of a council meeting on November 18, as part of a proposal by the head of the EU's foreign policy to suspend political dialogue with Israel. The proposal was rejected by the council of foreign ministers from EU member states.

Best of the Web: Former NATO Head Jens Stoltenberg Becomes Chair of Bilderberg Group And Munich Security Conference

The former head of Nato, Jens Stoltenberg, has been named the new co-chair of the influential Bilderberg Group, which convenes a yearly transatlantic policy conference and has long been the subject of conspiracy theories around the extent of its power to shape global events.

After a turbulent decade at the helm of the alliance's military, Stoltenberg now takes over at its pre-eminent discussion forum: a fiercely private four-day event frequented by prime minsters, EU commissioners, bank bosses, corporate CEOs and intelligence chiefs.

Stoltenberg's first Bilderberg was back in 2002, a few years before his second tenure as Norway's prime minister. His decade as secretary general of Nato saw further visits, and he even gave the keynote speech at the group's Saturday night banquet in Turin in 2018. His appointment as Bilderberg's co-chair cements the group's role at the heart of transatlantic strategy.

Comment: Well well, the stultifying Stoltenberg is moving up in the world.

To think he was Norway's Prime Minister, twice! And a LEFTY one at that!

Look at him now, liquidating millions of lives to enrich himself and his psychopathic friends.

The Moral Bankruptcy of the West. Prof. John J. Mearsheimer

On 21 November 2024, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for crimes against humanity and war crimes.

On 26 January 2024, the International Court of Justice found that a plausible case can be made that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.

Given the West's presumed commitment to human rights and especially to preventing genocide, one would have expected countries like the United States, Britain, and Germany, to have stopped the Israeli genocide in its tracks.

Instead, the governments in those three countries, especially the United States, have supported Israel's unimaginable behavior in Gaza at every turn. Indeed, those three countries are complicit in this genocide.

Moreover, almost all of the many human rights advocates in those countries, and in the West more generally, have stayed silent while Israel executed its genocide. The mainstream media has made hardly any effort to expose and challenge what Israel is doing to the Palestinians. Indeed some key outlets have staunchly supported Israel's actions.

One wonders what people in the West who have either supported Israel's genocide or remained silent tell themselves to justify their behavior and sleep at night.

History will not treat them kindly.

Crash of Azerbaijani civilian airliner in Kazakhstan. Accidental tragedy or monstrous provocation?

Embraer 190 Crash
© Public Domain
The crash investigation of the Brazilian-built Embraer 190 airliner is ongoing, and therefore, it is too early to talk about technical details. Russian President Vladimir Putin publicly apologized for the fact that the tragic incident occurred in Russian airspace and expressed his sincere condolences to the families of the victims.

In the Western media, the perpetrators of the tragedy have already been assigned. Who did it? The Russians, of course!

A statement by the British Foreign Office that "President Putin's statement lacks recognition that the reckless and irresponsible actions of the Russian state pose a huge and immediate threat to the interests and national security of other states" looks particularly cynical.

And no one in the West will even mention that the initial cause of the disaster was another terrorist raid by Ukrainian drones on the southern region of Russia, where, at that time, there was a civilian passenger plane flying from Baku to Grozny.

It is safe to assume that with all their public statements and other steps, the British authorities, who are directly interested in destabilizing the Caucasus and Central Asia (including through Ankara-promoted "pan-Turkic" projects), will do everything possible without waiting for the results of the investigation to shift responsibility for the tragic incident onto the Russian side.

Oreshnik launch a response to US military expansion in Europe

Lavrov

Moscow has accused Washington of undermining the global arms control framework.

The successful testing of the hypersonic Oreshnik missile last month represented Russia's response to the US deployment of its mid-range rockets to Europe, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has stated.

The intermediate-range ballistic missile system, which can carry multiple warheads, including nuclear ones, was first used on November 21, when it struck Ukraine's Yuzhmash military industrial facility in the city of Dnepr. Commenting on the attack, Russian President Vladimir Putin said the Oreshnik warheads travel at ten times the speed of sound and cannot be intercepted by any existing air defenses.

In an interview with Russian media on Sunday, Lavrov pointed out that following the unilateral US withdrawal from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty in 2019, Moscow continued to abide by the key limits set by the Cold War-era accord. However, the Russian foreign minister stated:
"Today it's clear, for example, that our [self-imposed] moratorium on the deployment of intermediate-range and shorter-range missiles is practically unviable and we will have to abandon it."

Warning

No, the truth is not just another story

Truthreality
It must be obvious that the incoming government under Mr. Trump has one primary duty overall: sorting out truth from lies so the nation can reestablish a baseline reality to function upon. America is so punch-drunk from official lying that many intelligent people who ought to know better now proclaim that reality is unknowable, which is just a surrender to nihilism — the rejection of moral principle, a belief that the human project is meaningless.

This awful condition has led to the point where you know for sure that "Joe Biden" cannot possibly discharge his duties as chief executive, and yet nobody cares enough to investigate who is running things behind the front he puts up. That would generally be the job of the news media, which is supposed to function as the public's auditor. Now, of course, you are persuaded that this was never really their job, that it was a sham, but that is just another lie.

The news was not flawless, but neither was it presented as nothing more than opinion. The news existed to register what happened day-to-day. It was not so much concerned with why things happened, which was much more difficult to establish, and usually reserved for the pages labeled "opinion," so that you knew it was somebody's conjecture. I know this because I worked as a newspaper reporter in the 1970s. I actually found out what was going on about this-and-that, wrote it up, and saw it in print hours later. The facts.

Comment: The telling doesn't get much more blunt than this...and 'this' merely touches upon the obvious.

Explosion rips through Russian military train close to Moscow

A freight train exploded at a railway station in the Moscow region, according to Ukraine. Ukraine's intelligence agency the GUR said that the incident on Friday morning destroyed carriages that were used to "provide logistics" for Russia's army and posted a video of a nighttime blast by railway tracks at the station in Voskresensk. Moscow Railway, a branch of Russian Railways, said according to RIA Novosti that there were burning carriages at the station but that the incident was part of a fire safety drill.

Newsweek has contacted Moscow Railway for comment.

Why It Matters

Often without claiming responsibility, Kyiv has used missiles and drones to target infrastructure used by Moscow's military machine for its aggression in Ukraine. But Friday's explosion is the latest reported incident to hit Russia's railways as well, which range from blasts to derailments. The spate of trains targeted in unexplained incidents has sparked speculation about sabotage.

Comment: This article was originally from Newsweek, a prominent booster of Ukrainian 'competence and success'. However: Lack of claims by Ukraine of responsibility for specific sabotage tells a different story. If it were true, Zelensky would never pass that up.
