Best of the Web: DoJ To Investigate Soros Foundation

cartel riots
The news cycle for dark-money, billionaire-funded NGOs is about to get optically displeasing for the Democratic Party and its elitist donor class, who have bankrolled what we consider the "protest-industrial complex."

For years, these leftist billionaire-backed nonprofits have waged an all-out war against President Trump and his MAGA base, funding and facilitating nonstop leftist "color revolution" operations, propping up extremist movements, indoctrinating kids with toxic woke ideology and turning them into revolutionaries, and amplifying a decade of dangerous rhetoric that smeared MAGA as "fascists" and "Nazis." These leftist, or Marxists, also fueled nation-killing agendas like DEI and criminal and social-justice reforms, which have proven disastrous for the longevity of the country.

A new report from The New York Times shows the Trump administration is preparing to investigate dark-money-funded NGOs that operate in the shadows, with the ultimate goal of not only destroying President Trump and MAGA, but also driving capitalism to collapse and ensuring the nation as we know it today no longer exists in the next decade.

FBI seized documents labeled classified from John Bolton's office

Federal agents seized multiple documents labeled "classified," "confidential" and "secret" from the office of former national security adviser John Bolton as part of an investigation into whether Bolton mishandled defense records, according to court filings that were unsealed on Tuesday.

The seized documents marked as confidential appear to be about weapons of mass destruction, national "strategic communication" and the U.S. mission to the United Nations, investigators wrote in a cataloged list of what was collected during the search in late August. The list did not specify when the documents are from. The FBI also seized phones and computer equipment at the time.

More than a dozen pages in the affidavit have partial or full redactions. It is not clear what exactly the documents contained or why they were marked secret, confidential and classified.

Presidents have a long history of using the FCC to silence their critics

The president was angry at the press, claiming that journalists were spreading "poisonous propaganda" about him. Using the Federal Communications Commission as a political weapon, he threatened the licenses of broadcast firms that employed people critical of him.

While Donald Trump likely is the first person to come to mind here, the opening sentences are not about him. They are, instead, about the spiritual standard bearer of the Democratic Party — Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Indeed, while president, FDR used the powers of his office to punish, bully, and intimidate print and broadcast journalists that dared to disagree with the New York patrician.

Roosevelt, unfortunately, did not simply engage in actions that violated the First Amendment to the Constitution, he did so without shame, pushing the boundaries of what presidents could do when openly going against the letter and spirit of the law.

The strategic mutual defense pact: First step toward a Muslim NATO?

Amidst the changing geopolitical and geostrategic landscape around the world, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have signed a new mutual defense agreement to counter the rising threat of Israeli aggression.

For decades, the Middle East and South Asia have been the victims of Western and Israeli aggression, leading to significant violence and chaos in the region. Over the last two years, this Israeli aggression has increased to an unprecedented level. Israel has killed almost 80,000 Palestinians in Gaza in the last two years. Since October 7, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have been operating in the entire region with apparent impunity due to unconditional US support for its war crimes and genocidal operations.

Recently, the Israeli fighter planes attacked a residential building in Doha, killing 5 Hamas members and 1 Qatari security personnel. The Hamas negotiating team, present in Doha to discuss the Trump peace plan for Gaza, was the actual target of the Israeli air force. Reportedly, the Hamas officials agreed to most of the proposals when Israeli planes bombarded Doha. However, the Israeli government once again disrupted the peace process, leading to further escalating tensions in the region.

Canada keeps bankrolling Ukraine's war crimes

The new prime minister, just like the old one, is handing Kiev the cash much needed at home.

Following in the shameful footsteps of both Justin Trudeau and Chrystia Freeland, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney continues pledging support and money (which Canadians desperately need) to Ukraine, to prolong the proxy war against Russia.

Carney chose Ukrainian Independence Day to voice the Canadian government's continued pledge to support Ukraine. As he landed in Kiev on August 24, Carney posted on X:
"On this Ukrainian Independence Day, and at this critical moment in their nation's history, Canada is stepping up our support and our efforts towards a just and lasting peace for Ukraine."
Later in the day he posted:
"After three years at war, Ukrainians urgently need more military equipment. Canada is answering that call, providing $2 billion for drones, armoured vehicles, and other critical resources."
This latest pledge brings Canada's expenditure on Ukraine since February 2022 to nearly $22 billion. Further, he pledged to potentially send Canadian or allied soldiers, stating, "I would not exclude the presence of troops."

Comment: 'Just and lasting peace via funding the war.' Who thinks like this?

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy has been sentenced to five years in prison and a €100,000 fine after being found guilty of criminal conspiracy in a high-profile case involving alleged illicit funding from the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, who was slain by NATO-backed rebels after US-UK-French military intervention in 2011.

The 70-year-old, who served as president from 2007 to 2012 and was a hugely influential figure in right-wing politics has maintained his innocence. "What happened today is extremely serious for the rule of law and for public trust in the justice system," he said in a statement. "If they absolutely want me to sleep in jail, I will sleep in jail - but with my head held high."

He was accused during his time as president of accepting millions of euros from Gaddafi to finance his 2007 election campaign. The quid pro quo allegedly involved a commitment help rehabilitate Gaddafi's image with the West.

Putin makes nuclear treaty offer to US (full text)

While Moscow is ready to respond to any threats, it continues to prioritize diplomacy, the Russian president has said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said Moscow will continue to adhere to a key nuclear arms control treaty signed with the US for one year after its expiration, provided Washington agrees to do the same.

Speaking ahead of a Security Council meeting on Monday, Putin said global strategic stability has been increasingly threatened by what he described as the destructive actions of Western nations. He stressed that while Moscow is ready to meet any threat, it is and always has been interested in political and diplomatic methods of resolving conflicts.

Russia is prepared to follow the 2010 Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START) treaty for one year after its expiration next February, provided the US reciprocates and refrains from actions that could break the nuclear status quo, such as deploying interceptor systems in space, Putin offered.

The Russia-US treaty establishes limits on the numbers of intercontinental-range nuclear weapons both sides can deploy.

Below is the full text of Putin's speech, as published on the Kremlin website:

Establishment fears about Trump's focus on the Fed are about optics, not policy

After the Federal Reserve's board voted to cut interest rates by a quarter of a percent last week, the Wall Street Journal editorial board declared that the central bank was now "Trump's Federal Reserve."

The editors are referring to the political establishment's ongoing concerns that President Trump is mounting an unprecedented and extremely dangerous effort to "take over" the Federal Reserve — turning America's central bank into a political tool for him and his successors.

What began as vague anxiety within the political class, as Trump hinted at a renewed interest in the Fed during the last campaign, grew into panic when Fed governor Adriana Kugler resigned in August, giving Trump the opportunity to appoint a voting member of the Fed board. While Kugler's term was scheduled to end anyway in January and her replacement would, therefore, only be nominated to serve the final four months, the resignation still gave Trump an earlier-than-anticipated opportunity to exert his presidential control over the Fed.

The importance of Iran in the new Asian energy architecture

A new order is emerging: it remains to be seen who will shape it and to whose advantage.

Moscow's latest warning

The world today teeters on the brink of a nuclear abyss, and if everything had been left solely to the maneuvers of Washington and the Israeli occupying state, humanity would already have plunged into hell.

Before the joint U.S.-Israel offensive against Iran, it seemed that the crisis over the Islamic Republic's nuclear program was close to a solution. On June 9, Moscow and Tehran signed a wide-ranging agreement that, in addition to redesigning the energy architecture of Western Asia, offered an important way out of the risk of war.

The agreement calls for Rosatom to build at least eight new nuclear reactors in Iran, with a project largely based on the 25-year Russian-Iranian Strategic Pact approved by the Tehran parliament on May 21, to be financed by Moscow and providing over 10 gigawatts of energy. According to current plans, Iran aims to increase its nuclear capacity to 20,000 megawatts (or 20 GW) by 2041.

The agreement came just days after Russia offered a plan to unblock U.S.-Iran nuclear negotiations, proposing to transfer Iran's enriched uranium abroad and convert it into fuel for civilian use.

This initiative, however, was Moscow's last show of good faith. The Kremlin considered the subsequent U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran a serious betrayal, which shattered any illusions about a peaceful outcome. Since then, Russian officials, taken by surprise, have decided to abandon their role as mediators and side with Tehran against further Western escalation.

Brazil joins South Africa's 'genocide' case against Israel at ICJ

Brazil now joins Spain, Ireland, Mexico, Turkiye and others who have signed on to the case.

Brazil has formally joined the case launched by South Africa at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) that alleges Israel is committing "genocide" in the Gaza Strip.

The Hague court confirmed in a statement on Friday that Brazil invoked Article 63 of the ICJ statute, filing a declaration of intervention in the case.

The article gives any United Nations member state the right to intervene in a case when the interpretation of a treaty to which it is a party is in question. Brazil used the article to formally recognize that Israel is violating the Genocide Convention of 1948.
