The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) have been forced out of El Fasher by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) after a yearlong siege, allowing the rebels to gain control of the western Darfur region, officials announced Tuesday.

A Tuesday statement from the Joint Forces, which is allied with Sudan's army, said the RSF "committed heinous crimes against innocent civilians in the city of El-Fasher, where more than 2,000 unarmed citizens were executed and killed on Oct. 26 and 27, most of them women, children and the elderly," according to the Times of Israel.

Biden's Jack Smith 'enemies list' scandal widens as 400 Republican targets revealed

The Biden administration spied on nearly 20% of Republicans in Congress, Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) revealed in a Wednesday bombshell.

Specifically, Grassley released 197 subpoenas that the Biden FBI reportedly used to gather testimony and information on over 400 Republican targets as part of the agency's "Arctic Frost" probe.

"197 subpoenas were issued by Jack Smith and his team. These subpoenas were issued to 34 individuals and 163 businesses, including financial institutions," Grassley said, adding "Arctic Frost was the vehicle by which partisan FBI agents and DOJ prosecutors could improperly investigate the entire Republican political apparatus. Contrary to what Smith has said publicly, this was clearly a fishing expedition."

Trump sets 7,500 limit for number of refugees entering US per year

Priority to be given to white South Africans.

The Trump administration is restricting the number of refugees admitted annually to the United States to 7,500 and they will mostly be white South Africans, a dramatic drop announced Thursday that effectively suspends America's traditional role as a haven for those fleeing war and persecution.

The move cements a major shift in policy toward refugees that aligns with the Republican administration's broader goals of keeping out foreigners whom it deems a risk to the nation's security or a threat to U.S. jobs. That shift has meant increased immigration enforcement, in cities and at borders and entry points, in what's become a vastly changed landscape in a country long seen as a beacon for migrants.

No reason was given for the new numbers, which were published in a notice on the Federal Register and are a steep decrease from last year's ceiling of 125,000 set under Democratic President Joe Biden. The Associated Press previously reported that the administration was considering admitting as few as 7,500 refugees and mostly white South Africans.

Lavrov talks Russia-NATO relations, arms control and dialogue with US: Key takeaways from the foreign minister's speech

Lavrov

Moscow has no intention of attacking the US-led military bloc and is prepared to give official guarantees to that effect, the top diplomat has said.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has outlined Moscow's vision of relations with an increasingly belligerent NATO, US President Donald Trump's administration, and the security architecture in Eurasia.

Lavrov touched on these and other topics at an international security conference in Minsk, Belarus on Tuesday. Here are the key takeaways from his address:

Russia-NATO relations

Moscow "has repeatedly said that we have had no intention of attacking any of the current NATO and European Union member states," Lavrov stressed. He added that Russia is prepared to give official guarantees to this effect as part of a future security architecture in Eurasia.

According to the foreign minister, EU leaders are studiously avoiding these discussions, aiming instead for "security guarantees against Russia, as opposed to with Russia."

Comment: Russia has had a continuity of leadership for decades. Same with China. USA has not, nor can it guarantee long future agreements won't be broken or exchanged. NATO is stretching its war-haze-phase as long as Russia is otherwise preoccupied. Without Russia, it remains posture. With Russia it becomes 'Ukraine'.

The Rubio Doctrine: Neocons are back!

TrumpRub Stop

According to several recent news reports, the two major Trump foreign policy shifts last week are the handiwork of Marco Rubio, the President's Secretary of State and (acting) National Security Advisor. As with all neocon plans, they will be big on promises and small on delivery.

First up, according to Bloomberg it was Rubio who finally convinced President Trump to take "ownership" of the US proxy war on Russia, and for the first time place sanctions on Russia. Up to this point President Trump chose to portray himself as a mediator between Ukraine and Russia. But with this move against Russia's oil sector he can no longer credibly claim that this is "Joe Biden's war."

The Trump move followed a confusing few weeks since the Trump/Putin Alaska summit in August. After that meeting Trump dropped the neocon position that a ceasefire in the Russia/Ukraine war must occur before any peace negotiations. It was a sign that Trump was looking more realistically at the war. He also said he did not think Ukraine would win, which is pretty obvious.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes - The Nexperia fiasco

Nexperia
© semimedia.cc
The Dutch government thought they'd pulled off a masterstroke. Invoke a 73-year-old wartime emergency law, seize control of Chinese-owned Nexperia, install their own CEO, and presto — strategic autonomy achieved. They grabbed the company, paraded their decisive action, and waited for applause.

China's response was elegant, brutal, and entirely predictable: export ban. Nexperia's Chinese subsidiaries and subcontractors can no longer export chips manufactured in China. The Dutch seized the corporate shell. China kept the actual production. And now the entire European automotive industry — which depends on Nexperia's chips — gets to experience what leverage actually looks like.

Minister for Economic Affairs Vincent Karremans is desperately trying to negotiate with China about lifting the ban. The same ban his government's hostile takeover triggered. They're scrambling to salvage the situation without admitting they fundamentally misunderstood how global manufacturing works in 2025.

Too late for that.

But here's where it gets really instructive.

China didn't just retaliate — they restructured the relationship entirely. According to new reports, if Nexperia wants to resume supplying Europe, three conditions apply: First, customers must renegotiate exclusive supply agreements, bypassing the seized Dutch headquarters entirely and establishing direct partnerships with China. Second, all transactions must be settled in RMB, opening a new path in the dollar-dominated semiconductor trade. Third, shipments to Europe will be dynamically adjusted based on domestic order demand, ensuring priority for domestic supply.

Read that again. The Netherlands seized a company. China responded by requiring RMB settlement and making European customers negotiate directly with Chinese entities while accepting they'll get chips only after Chinese domestic demand is satisfied.

This isn't just retaliation. This is weaponized supply chains advancing RMB internationalization while teaching Europe exactly where they sit in the global manufacturing hierarchy. The Dutch played stupid games with geopolitical theater. Europe's automotive industry gets to win stupid prizes.

Japan defies US on Russian LNG imports - media

Japan will continue importing Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) despite pressure to halt purchases, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi told US President Donald Trump on Tuesday, according to multiple news outlets.

Trump, who was visiting Tokyo as part of a broader Asia tour, reportedly urged Japan to suspend Russian energy imports, but Takaichi sought his understanding, emphasizing Japan's energy needs.

Russia supplies roughly 9% of Japan's total LNG imports, and Takaichi said that an embargo on Russian shipments would harm the economy and therefore "would not be possible," according to Nikkei.

Comment: The new Japanese Prime Minister seems to be holding a more respectable position with Russia in the interests of Japan rather than accept Trump's bullying tactics.

Ukraine will never retake lost territories - Italian defense chief

Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto
© AFPItalian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto
Ukraine lacks the strength to reconquer territories lost to Russia, Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto has said. He added that Moscow will in any case never relinquish the territories.

Crosetto discussed the issue in an interview with Bruno Vespa, featured in the journalist's new book set for release this week. In the conversation, Crosetto laid out his view that the situation on the ground leaves no realistic path for Ukraine to reclaim its former regions.

"To reconquer the territories lost in 2014 and after February 2022 is today considered impossible by everyone," Crosetto told Vespa, as quoted by ANSA news agency. "Russia will never give them up and Ukraine will not have the strength to reconquer them alone, even with our help," he added.

Comment: Saying the quiet part out loud. More from ZeroHedge:
Russia's military currently holds some 20% of Ukrainian territory, and early in the conflict Moscow declared the annexation after popular referendum of the four oblasts of Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia.

Citing the Italian defense chief further, RBC-Ukraine writes, "According to him, Russian leader Vladimir Putin cannot back down, in part because he changed the constitution, declaring the occupied territories Russian in every sense, thereby putting himself in a position where he cannot negotiate."

And yet the reality is that the Zelensky government and its backers in NATO still appear completely unwilling to negotiate based on ceding territory.

Zelensky has refused to even recognize Russia's hold over Crimea, and Moscow is certainly never going to give up Crimea and home to its Black Sea naval fleet.

"It is up to them [the Ukrainians] to decide what is the greater sacrifice: conceding territory or continuing a bloody war that could intensify. Ukrainian losses amount to 520,000 people, while Russian losses exceed 1 million. The difference is that Ukrainians are aware of their losses, whereas the Russian people have no idea," Crosetto continued.

But Crosetto holds no sympathies with Moscow - quite the opposite in fact - as he's also said that Russia is sowing propaganda among European populations, and even seeks to destabilize and confuse Italy.

We reported earlier Wednesday that the key logistical hub of Ukraine's eastern front - Pokrovsk, is poised to be captured by the Russian army, given its infantry forces are already inside southern districts of the frontline city.

Kremlin vows response if US violates nuclear moratorium

US leader Donald Trump earlier said he had ordered the Pentagon to resume nuclear arms trials.

Russia will respond "accordingly" if the US violates a moratorium on testing nuclear weapons, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.

On Thursday, US President Donald Trump said he had ordered the Pentagon to resume nuclear weapons testing, citing strategic competition with Russia and China. "That process will begin immediately" in response to "other countries' testing programs," he said.

When asked about the issue by journalists later in the day, Peskov noted "the statement by [Russian President Vladimir] Putin, which has been repeated many times, that, of course, if someone abandons the moratorium [on nuclear testing], then Russia will act accordingly."

"The US is a sovereign country and has every right to make sovereign decisions," he stressed.

Responding to Trump's claims of other countries carrying out nuclear tests, Peskov said "we are so far not aware of this."

Comment: Perhaps someone will tell Trump that testing a nuclear capable missile is not the same as nuclear testing. Unfortunately Trump makes many big statements without having a real understanding of things and relying on his aides is a dubious approach as a number of them also lack understanding or are driven by another agenda.

Anti-Russian propaganda and preparation for war against Russia

While deep state propaganda convinces public opinion that Russia is evil, armies are being prepared for war before our very eyes. The Chief of Staff of the French Army, General Pierre Schill, has just announced to the National Assembly that he is preparing for the next war against Russia. Meanwhile, the Polish Deputy Prime Minister has announced that he will intercept Vladimir Putin's presidential plane. Alone against all his allies, Donald Trump is trying to preserve world peace.

The confrontation between President Donald Trump and the coalition of British, American, Israeli, and Ukrainian deep states is likely to extend to the Far East. In Japan, Sanae Takaichi has just formed a LDP (Liberal Democratic Party) government thanks to his alliance with the Innovation Party, which shares his warmongering views.
