While the world is distracted: Syria updates - ISIS massacres and Turkish double-dealing

The US cartel is doubling down on war

ISIS
As events are moving so fast in the region, I will try to update more regularly in a condensed format:

US continues its murder of civilians in central Syria using its ISIS proxies to carry out brutal attacks . On the 16th April at least 26 civilians were massacred in an attack on truffle hunters in the Duizen eastern countryside of Hama governorate.

It is reported by the terrorist-biased Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) that 12 of the martyrs were members of the National Defence Forces but the majority of the attacks and kidnap victims are civilians. The US is known to have planted ISIS cells in the area east of Homs and the threat to civilians or military is high. Syrian civilians trying to eke a living in a country under economic attack from the West are forced to hire military protection to survive. Added to this, the desert is still also littered with ISIS and other terrorist group mines and IEDs. On 17th February 53 people were killed in Homs Al Sukhna region near Palmyra and dozens were kidnapped.

Russo-Chinese military cooperation to ensure world peace

China's State Councilor and Minister of National Defense Li Shangfu highlighted that the Russo-Chinese relationship, which is based on the principles of non-alignment and non-confrontation, goes beyond the Cold War-era military and political alliances during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu.

"Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu's visit to Russia is an important event following President Xi Jinping's visit to Russia, and one of the biggest events in diplomatic relations between China and Russia this year," Zhou Rong, a senior analyst at the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China, told Sputnik. "With US-led NATO under heavy pressure on Russia in Europe and on China in Asia, Moscow and Beijing need mutual support and a high degree of trust in military cooperation. Russian-Chinese cooperation will help prevent regional wars and conflicts.

"It is hardly a coincidence that Li Shangfu went to Russia on the heels of a state visit by Chinese Chairman Xi Jinping, who spent three days in Moscow in his first international trip since his re-election in the 2023 National People's Congress, according to Sergey Sanakoev, president of the Asia-Pacific Research Center and RIAC member.

Sudan: All-out war erupts in Sudan as rival military forces clash

© Encyclopedia Brittanica
Casualties are mounting

Smoldering tensions between rival armed forces erupted into all-out warfare in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum on Saturday, leaving at least 50 dead and 600 injured. What began as a peaceful clash over Sudan's political future is now a war for control of Africa's third-largest country .

The battles pit the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo -- who's also known as Hemedti and has served as Burhan's deputy head of state.

The two generals united in a 2021 coup to take shared control of the country. However, recent months have seen mounting tensions between the SAF and RSF, as the generals have clashing positions in negotiations for the establishment of civilian government -- something the country's been trying to achieve since a 2019 revolution overthrew the 30-year reign of President Omar al-Bashir.

Comment: The U.S., China and Russia have all been vying for influence in Africa, especially where resources or geo-strategic locations are concerned. There is certainly more than a whiff of Color Revolution™.

From Middle East Eye, September 2022:
Sudan: US warns Khartoum over allowing Russia to build Red Sea naval base

First US envoy to Sudan in 25 years warns of 'consequences' if country rekindles 2017 agreement with Moscow

John Godfrey, who earlier this month became the first US ambassador to Sudan in 25 years, has warned Khartoum not to allow Russia to establish a naval base on its Red Sea coast, saying it would harm the country's interests.

Godfrey made the remarks during an interview with the Sudanese newspaper Al-Tayar, in which he said his mission was to thaw ties between Khartoum and Washington and that he wished to see a civilian government running the country.

However, he also spoke of Russian influence in Sudan, warning against the rekindling of a 2017 agreement to establish a Russian navy base in Port Sudan, a major seaport city and the arrival point of 90 percent of the country's imports.

Sudan signed an agreement allowing Moscow to build the base, capable of hosting nuclear-powered ships, during the government of former President Omar Hassan al-Bashir, who was ousted from power in 2019.

Russia would lease the site for 25 years and could extend the deal for another 10 years, giving it access to the Red Sea's warm waters and the international trade chokepoint of Bab el-Mandeb.

Godfrey told Al-Tayar on Tuesday that "it is essential to say that international isolation around Russia and President [Vladimir] Putin is currently increasing due to the... invasion of Ukraine".

He added that "if the government of Sudan decides to proceed with the establishment of this facility, or to renegotiate it, it will be harmful to Sudan's interest".

'We have no problem dealing with Russia'

In February, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, the deputy chairman of Sudan's Sovereign Council, made a one-week visit to Russia, which coincided with the invasion of Ukraine.

Dagalo, also known as Hemeti, said at the time that there were no obstacles to establishing a Russian military base if it would benefit the interests of Sudan, remarks which brought condemnation from the US.

"We have 730km on the Red Sea. Suppose any country wanted to set up a military base, and we have with it common interests, and it does not threaten our national security," said Hemeti. "In that case, we have no problem dealing with Russia or others."

Godfrey told Al-Tayar: "All countries have a sovereign right to decide which other countries to partner with, but these choices have consequences, of course."

The ambassador added that any such base on the Red Sea would "lead to further isolation of Sudan at a time when most Sudanese want to become closer to the international community".

Scott Ritter: Pentagon leaks show that Ukraine can't win

Anyone who has been following the ongoing Russian Special Military Operation (SMO) in Ukraine is aware that there has been talk of a Ukrainian "spring offensive" for some time now.

Since early fall of last year, the government of Ukraine has been aggressively advocating for increased provision of specific kinds of military equipment — tanks, artillery, infantry fighting vehicles, and modern jet aircraft top the list — which would enable the armed forces of Ukraine to execute a major military offensive designed to penetrate the so-called "land bridge" connecting the Crimean Peninsula with Russia's Rostov region. In particular, the Ukrainian military appears to be planning for a concerted attack to capture the city of Mariupol and re-establish itself on the shores of the Sea of Azov. From here, the Ukrainian military would be able to subject the totality of the Crimean Peninsula to punishing attacks, the goal of which would be to break the fighting spirit of Russia and eventually drive the Russian military from all the former territories of Ukraine that were incorporated into Russia following the referenda of 2022, as well as Crimea.

While US military leaders questioned whether Ukraine would be able to achieve such ambitious objectives in the time frame suggested (i.e., by the fall of 2023), both the US and NATO believed that a major Ukrainian counteroffensive was necessary, if only to reverse Russian momentum and further bloody Russia's nose.

"Remember that all through history, there have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they seem invincible. But in the end, they always fall. Always."
- Gandhi
You might be among those who have noticed that the people in authority in our country appear increasingly insane. It ought to be self-evident that this is deeply disturbing, but I will explain anyway to allay any residual mystification. In a sane human society, authority is granted to those who are trustworthy. People earn trust by demonstrating their allegiance to reality. Things generally work better when the people running them maintain cordial relations with reality. Now, you understand why so many things don't work in the USA.

What more subtle minds are asking these days is this: when does this insanity tip over into evil? Especially the insanity evinced in our authority figures. How about when someone positively denies reality in the act of doing harm. How about Rochelle Walensky, Director of the CDC. Ms. Walensky is, to this moment, still proffering mRNA Covid-19 "vaccines" for children despite the reality that reams of evidence exist showing these products to be harmful, even deadly — and, in particular, by the previously exacting standards of the CDC's sister agency, the FDA, which hold that just a few demonstrated injuries will lead to a drug being withdrawn from medical practice. (Ms. Walensky is a medical doctor, by the way.)

'A grave scandal': The administration of the second Catholic president won't stop targeting the church, experts warn

Biden

The Biden administration has put Catholic individuals and organizations under an unprecedented level of scrutiny by using the FBI and Department of Justice to infiltrate churches and prosecute members, according to experts that spoke to the Daily Caller News Foundation.

President Joe Biden, the second Catholic president after John F. Kennedy, has talked about his faith on multiple occasions during his career, saying in 2012 that "my religion defines who I am," but the president's political positions on abortion and LGBTQ issues have put him and his administration at odds with the church on several occasions. The administration has been criticized for its attacks on the church, including issuing an FBI memo earlier this year calling traditional Catholics a domestic threat.

Andrea Picciotti-Bayer, director of the Conscience Project and a fellow at the Institute of Human Ecology at the Catholic University of America, told the DCNF that the president's administration has "embraced the thuggery of anti-Catholic bigotry with zeal."

Could Fauci realistically be prosecuted under RICO statutes?

man behind bars locked up prison
I have previously made the case that Anthony Fauci should be indicted and prosecuted for negligent homicide both for his vaccine lies as well as for his reckless funding of illicit-gain-of-function research in a now-infamous Wuhan, China biolab.

Here, we will explore his potential legal exposure under the federal RICO statute.

The 1970 RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act) Statute was ostensibly crafted, in the Department of Justice's framing, to "strengthen the legal tools in evidence gathering... and new remedies for dealing with the unlawful activities of those engaged in organized crime."

Comment: Of course, he should be prosecuted but whether he will remains to be seen.

Pentagon "Leaks": 5 ways to tell REAL from FAKE

Pentagon Leaks
© Off-Guardian
We promised a longer take on the Pentagon "leaks", and here it goes. Regular readers will probably be familiar with my view on leaked documents in general, but if you're not allow me to quote my own 2019 article on the (absurd) "Afghanistan papers":
An awful lot of modern "leaks" are no such thing. They are Orwellian exercises in controlling the conversation [...] carefully making sure the "establishment" and the "alternative" are joined in the middle, controlled from the same source.
That's not to say ALL "leaks" are automatically and ubiquitously narrative control exercises, clearly some are real...but it's usually pretty easy to tell them apart. In fact here's a little checklist.

1. If your "leak" tells you stuff you already know, it's probably a fake leak.

"Leaking" widely known, publicly available information is a very common tactic. In the Pentagon "leaks", for example, it was "revealed" that the US has been spying on South Korea, Israel and Ukraine. But the US spies on everyone - allies included - and we have all known that for literal decades.

Further, everyone spies on everyone, it's just the way the game is played. Acting like it's a big reveal, and the performative outrage of the South Korean government, is a hallmark of a fake leak.

Putin signs new conscription law

Russia will start serving summons electronically, using a digital database of eligible citizens...

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday signed into law amended conscription and mobilization rules, establishing a unified digital database of citizens subject to military service. The measure was fast-tracked through the legislature in Moscow in less than a week.

The Ministry of Digital Development was tasked with establishing the registry, which will be operated by the Ministry of Defense. The government will draw on its existing databases to populate the registry, including tax, election, medical, police and court records, and those drawn from employers and universities.

The register will help track the summons sent out to eligible conscripts not just by mail but now also electronically, using the "appropriate" platforms, such as the state services portal 'Gosuslugi'. The summons will be considered served within seven days of being posted to the registry. From the moment the summons is issued, the recipient will not be allowed to leave Russia.

Comment: Russia does not operate by default, as do certain other governments.

The IMF has just unveiled a new global currency known as the "Universal Monetary Unit" that Is supposed to revolutionize the world economy

unicoin
© unknownNew "Universal Monetary Unit" the Unicoin
A new global currency just launched, but 99 percent of the global population has no idea what just happened. The "Universal Monetary Unit", also known as "Unicoin", is an "international central bank digital currency" that has been designed to work in conjunction with all existing national currencies. This should set off alarm bells for all of us, because the widespread adoption of a new "global currency" would be a giant step forward for the globalist agenda. The IMF did not create this new currency, but it was unveiled at a major IMF gathering earlier this week...
Today, at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Spring Meetings 2023, the Digital Currency Monetary Authority (DCMA) announced their official launch of an international central bank digital currency (CBDC) that strengthens the monetary sovereignty of participating central banks and complies with the recent crypto assets policy recommendations proposed by the IMF.

Universal Monetary Unit (UMU), symbolized as ANSI Character, Ü, is legally a money commodity, can transact in any legal tender settlement currency, and functions like a CBDC to enforce banking regulations and to protect the financial integrity of the international banking system.
As the press release quoted above indicates, this new "Universal Monetary Unit" was created by the Digital Currency Monetary Authority.

So who in the world is the Digital Currency Monetary Authority?

Honestly, I had no idea until I started doing research for this article.
