Unidentified object entered Poland's airspace from Ukraine, military reports

The incident coincided with a massive overnight air attack by Russia on Ukraine.

An unidentified aerial object entered the airspace of Poland from the direction of the border with Ukraine early on December 29, the Polish Army's Operational Command said. "In the morning, an unidentified aerial object entered the airspace of the Republic of Poland from the side of the border with Ukraine, and from the moment it crossed the border until the signal disappeared, it was observed by the radars of the country's air-defense system," the operational command said on X, formerly Twitter.

It said that "In accordance with applicable procedures, the operational commander of the armed forces mobilized the available forces and resources at his disposal." The incident coincided with a massive overnight air attack by Russia on Ukraine.

You can't expect them to tell you that it was a US-made air defense missile that went astray - again.

I hesitate to say "malfunctioned", because they never ever really worked.

The appearance of an unidentified object over Poland after Russian missile attacks on Ukraine is another signal that Ukrainian defense needs strengthening, said Colonel Yuri Ihnat, spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force.

“As you can see, we are dealing with powerful attacks, a lot of everything is flying in the air and such cases are not happening for the first time. They even fly to the territory of Romania [...]. The same thing happened in Poland last year," said the spokesman, quoted by Ukrainska Pravda.

“The enemy is attacking our border territories, including in the west. In the Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. This is one more sign and signal for our partners to strengthen Ukraine with the necessary amount of resources, so that we can become a shield between the aggressor and Europe, to defend both ourselves and them," says Ihnat.
