Anti-Semitic symbols and words were found drawn in chalk on an elementary school yard in New York City. A councilman tweeted the photos last week.
Dozens of swastikas, a Nazi eagle and the words "Hail Hitler" (sic) were found drawn in chalk on the pavement of PS 139's schoolyard Friday morning. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo had directed the State Police Hate Crimes Task Force to assist the New York Police Department in its investigation.
The boy has been released to his mother, Tsourovakas said. Police would not provide further details on the case. The boy is expected to appear in court at a later date to face the charge.
"I am appalled and disgusted by the Swastikas and other anti-Semitic symbols of hate that were scrawled in a Queens schoolyard," Cuomo said in a statement before the arrest. "In New York, we have zero tolerance for such vile acts of anti-Semitism."
Councilwoman Karen Koslowitz, who represents the district, said on Friday that her office received photographs from a resident in the apartment building next to the school and immediately informed the police. According to Koslowitz, the area is a predominantly Jewish neighborhood.
At the time, Koslowitz said this was an exceptionally scary incident and described the images as "horrible, just horrible."
There have been 36 anti-Semitic crimes reported in the city so far this year, compared with 21 for the same time last year, according to a New York Times report, which cited police.
"This really just has to stop," Koslowitz said Friday.

Swastika, when drawn vertically, should be aligned with the line of gravity, and when drawn on the ground, it should align with the North East South West, with the east hand aligning with the sunrise point.

It is a bit irritating to see the sons of Abraham decimating history through thousands and thousands of years, marketing their own franchisee of beliefs or rule book, and in effect, history of mankind only has become bloodier.

The Holocaust is a prime example of the modalities of killing truth, manufacturing another, but both the believers and non believers of Holocaust agreeing that Swastika is evil.

It's clear that two different people wrote "Hail" and "Hitler", and seeing all the different scribbles on the ground it looks like the whole class wanted to try.
I remember when I learned about the swastika as a youth. I also drew it a few times in my notebook. I had to, an exotic and strange symbol that my mind needed to figure out by 'moving through' the drawing. Like all kids, I was simply curious, without any prejudice or hatred (kids can be angry, but are rarely hateful). It would have been impossible to associate the swastika with anything that had to do with prejudice or hatred, constructs of the adult world.
I expect the kid did mean "Hail" ... why would an American educated kid know how to spell "Heil" ... do they even know that Hitler spoke German
