Growing up surfing in, and worshipping at, the "Church of The Atlantic' (while most of our friends were suffering though Sunday school- with hangovers, no-less), I seriously doubt they were happier than we were-indeed, all then and since have 'confessed their non-surfing 'sins' to us, then, and now.P.s., It has now been confirmed by all who live here that the waves were far, far better all the way through around 1995? Since then, as bigger and bigger cruise ships have come to Port Canaveral for all the Disney, et al. tourists, the local PTB have been constantly (on average 1 month a year) dredging and deepening and widening the ingress/channel to/from Port Canaveral. For areas South of there, that makes our long, slightly sloping continental shelf even bigger and the waves smaller. NSB is still good though.
And like good priests of the waves,* we then kindly (sic) 'accepted their confessions' in the following manner:
"Dudes, you totally queebed out!
"Only Truly Gritty Kooks would have missed Sunday morning!"
"7-9 Foot faces with razor edged A-frame lines, and spitting in both directions!!"
"The waves were epic! EPIC!!!!
Then singing , "What did you learn in school today, dear little boy of mine?" (We were SO KIND... /
