Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., said Friday it was "totally inappropriate" for him to call for the Justice Department to investigate Democrats, including aides of Hillary Clinton.

"Like me, most Americans hope that our justice system is independent and free of political interference," Corker said in a statement Friday. "President Trump's pressuring of the Justice Department and FBI to pursue cases against his adversaries and calling for punishment before trials take place are totally inappropriate and not only undermine our justice system but erode the American people's confidence in our institutions."

Comment: It's just a hope, Senator Corker. In reality, the American justice system is not independent nor free of political interference. If it were, Hillary Clinton would be in jail by now. This is why "the American people's confidence in our institutions" is mostly a figment of your imagination.

Trump told reporters before departing on a 12-day trip to Asia that the Justice Department should be looking into Democrats and their "dishonesty," and said he is disappointed in the department. He has also been a critic of Attorney General Jeff Sessions for not investigating Clinton.

"I like to let it run itself," Trump said of the department. "Honestly, they should be looking at the Democrats. They should be looking at Podesta, and all of that dishonesty. They should be looking at a lot of things. A lot of people are disappointed in the Justice Department, including me."

"Everybody is asking why the Justice Department (and FBI) isn't looking into all of the dishonesty going on with Crooked Hillary & the Dems. New Donna B book said she paid for and stole the Dem Primary. What about the deleted E-Mails, Uranium, Podesta, the Server, plus, plus," Trump also said in a series of tweets Friday morning. "People are angry. At some point the Justice Department and the FBI must do what is right and proper. The American people deserves it!"

Comment: Please notice, Senator Corker, that Trump was asking to "look at" (i.e. investigate) the Podestas and the Clintons out there, which is what the Justice Department and the FBI should be doing regardless of what the president or anyone else say, because that is their job. Trump was not "calling for punishment before trial" as you claim - although to be fair, with the amount of evidence that has come out already, calling for punishment would be most appropriate!

Hillary Clinton has been officially outed as having rigged the Democratic primary in her favour, and what does Senator Corker have to say? That pointing fingers at her is "inappropriate"! Don't be mean to the snowflake crooks!

Corker has been a frequent critic of the president, particularly after Trump's comments in the wake of the Charlottesville protests and recently as the two have engaged in a nasty and pointed back-and-forth over the president's competence.
