Society's Child
Since Saturday, visitors from Philippines to Pornhub, which doesn't host child pornography, were redirected to a page with the message: "This website has been ordered blocked under authority of the Philippine government pursuant to Republic Act 9775 or the Anti-Child Pornography Law."
Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar toldjournalists attending the launch of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) meeting in Manila on Sunday that "these porn sites should really be banned because they are being used by pedophiles and other people who subscribe to child pornography sites."
"We don't want our youth and even the adults to be addicted to lewd videos shown in the internet," Andanar said on behalf of President Duterte.
An anti-child pornography council, composed of social workers and policemen, has been given the task of identifying which sites breach the anti-child pornography law, Information and Communications Technology Secretary Rodolfo Salalima told the Inquirer.
Recently-released statistics from Pornhub reveals viewers in the Philippines spend the longest time on the site. For the second consecutive year Filipinos spent longer on the site than anyone else, averaging around 12 minutes and 45 seconds per visit, ahead of South Africa in second and the US in third.
Comment: Kudos to Duterte for taking a stand to protect children and attempting to exert a civilizing influence against this soul-destroying 'past-time'.

@ LindaMay, if you look back at your comment it was this is a LEADER, I took that comment that you were commenting on the leader of the Philippines in a negative light. Which I don't agree with, leadership has many styles, and in this age of political speak, speaking bluntly is difficult for some to accept.
The Philippines has been a haven for pedophiles from the west
Here are a few examples
Peter Gerard Scully (born 13 January 1963) is an Australian who is, as of September 2016,[1] on trial in the Philippines for numerous crimes, including child molestation, the murder of an 11-year-old Filipina girl, and the torture and sexual abuse of at least eight girls, including an 18-month-old infant.
On 20 February 2015, Scully was arrested in his rented house in Malaybalay City after investigators discovered the remains of a teenage girl, Rosie, buried under an apartment he had rented. He allegedly strangled her to death according to police who were led to the apartment by Scully's partner, a 17-year-old Filipino girl, who was also his girlfriend and a prior victim of his abuse.[3][4]
Margaret Akullo, then Project Coordinator for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and an expert on child abuse investigations,[5] described the case as "horrific" and the worst she had ever heard of.[6]

and this from an article in the Sydney Herald I believe dated in 2014
In a remote Philippine village, toddlers played oblivious at a nursery as the house next door became part of a horrifying child pornography ring, with live footage of children performing sex acts being streamed online to pedophiles around the world.
The depraved scenes in the bungalow were being repeated in many homes throughout Ibabao, a secluded community on Cebu island where internet child pornography had for some of its 5000 residents become more lucrative than fishing or factory work.

So yes pedophilia is a real problem in the Philippines. Duterte talks about the clamping down on websites, but the sad fact is that with a computer, a webcam and the tech savvy of some enterprising person, the lure of money to an impoverished village and the ability to show live images world wide, has become very lucrative, yes pedophilia is a real problem
@ Roel maybe you understand my comment now.
For more information why not listen to Anna Salter on SOTT Talk Radio
Behind the Headlines: Predators Among Us - Interview With Dr. Anna Salter
In December 2013, we spoke with Dr. Anna Salter on SOTT Talk Radio. Dr. Salter is a licensed clinical psychologist who received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and Public Practice from Harvard...Jesus, Joan and LindaMay:
I detect - though am not quite sure - that this all began from Joan's incorrectly 'assuming' that LM's initial comment was facetious or sarcastic. (Roel's comment above.)
Subsequently, it was aggravated by a failure to "say what I mean and mean what I say."
I personally have a hard time being read by others so, as I've repeatedly said, Sarcasm is is the last refuge of the defeated wit. (Johnson) and I am NEVER sarcastic without declaring or otherwise making it obvious . . such as this: ;-p.
I never 'assume' sarcasm but strongly advise against it. I believe Joan did and all the above follows.
All: They say x% of communication is body language or such (which I personally can't read). However, here, it's irrelevant. I presume folks say what they mean and mean what they say. Joan, you should too.

You people are so brilliant, intelligent, and witty (i love dry wit potatoes n tomatos!!), it truly is extraordinary to see monkeyminds (re: bhagavad gita) work so beautifully. No shit!
ROEL thank you too for being gracious. You know guys n gals... one should never underestimate (well... ' not supposing' is 1 of the 4 golden rules... The 4 Agreements) the power of expression.
It takes only a spark to burn down an entire forest or a gentle gesture to light up my day.
Heartfelt gratitude to all sotties
Sounds like a pre-folk rock, American folk group along the lines of The New Christy Minstrels or something. LOL.
HFL - I prefer your new pic.
Is that Michael Caine in 'The Italian Job' or something like that?
R.C.
I just researched and sure as s***, I was again (as usual) right. I wasn't certain of the name, and only saw the picture once, on late night tv about two years ago. Not bad, if I do say so - and I do. I'm sooo humble. (Facetiousness.)
As I recall, it ends with (spoiler alert) Michael Caine and his crew trying to balance a bus to get their booty. I won't go off on all the illogical things - where physics and logic were abandonedand where I was yelling at the idiots on the TV to do x,y, z - (one of the worst film examples being Armageddon: e.g. gravity INSIDE the ship but not outside; plot flaw of why the hell would you carry the weight of a machine gun on the mission, etc.)

I can't remember whether it's Funeral in Berlin, The IPCRESS File, or The Billion Dollar Brain.
