There could be another reason why certain 'elites' want to 'push Clinton off the iceberg', so to speak. They may simply be cutting their losses. In other words she is now so thoroughly smeared and damaged by email leaks, Project Veritas and people who have been close to her knowing how she treats others, that she simply cannot win the election. There is little that they can do at this late stage to 'save' her reputation now, so they're cutting her loose. Of course, there are going to be competing factions behind the scenes too.
