Alton Sterling
Graphic cell phone video showing two officers execute a father at point blank range early Tuesday morning has prompted outrage in a Baton Rouge community. Shortly after seeing the video, The Game took to Instagram and voiced his rage over the death of 37-year-old Alton Sterling.

Sterling was killed by officers Blane Salamoni and Howie Lake II over a call about him selling CD's. Sterling was a father and a beloved member of the community who had permission to be selling CDs from the store owner Abdullah Muflahi.

Sterling was tackled and then executed by cops after simply asking them what it was he did wrong.

Yes, Sterling may have had a pistol in his pocket. However, having a pistol in your pocket without a CCW card in Louisiana is a misdemeanor. It was certainly no grounds for a death sentence.

This incident should be enough to shake even the most complacent Americans out of their slumber and realize that there is a problem with police violence in America. That was the sentiment of the Game's rant on Instagram.

On Wednesday, The Game wrote, "All we gone do is repost it & type "SMH" over & over again huh ?? Then we gone put #JusticeForAltonSterling & #BlackLivesMatter hashtags on Instagram & pretend that's us taking action huh ??? What happened to the generation of people who stood together, held hands & took to the streets peacefully or violently if it had to come to that & wouldn't move or be detoured from that stance until real results were handed over to us?!?!"

It seems that police violence has become so common and punishments so scarce that Americans are accepting this as the norm. This reality is discouraging as well as frightening. When innocent lives can be taken without recourse or second thought, society is ill.

The Game continues, "WTF is wrong with us these days that we will sit here & watch a video of yet another innocent man shot & killed in cold blood by police officers in this country ?!?!? WTF is wrong with ME, YOU & everyone else who will watch the video & read this caption & DO NOTHING until it happens again... Then what we gone do ?? The same shit we been doing... Hashtag #JUSTICEFOR[insert name here__________] & #BLACKLIVESMATTER when it really seems that they don't at all... & if #BLACKLIVES don't even matter to #BLACKPEOPLE why the fuck would they matter to anyone else ?!?!?!? What on earth is wrong with US ?!?!?!? But lemme stop so we can get back to turning up, dab'n & hittin "them folks" while this man lay dead in a county morgue for selling some fucking CD's & asking what he was being detained for ?!!?!?!?!?"

The Game then went on to make a call for action and referenced Martin Luther King Jr., whose activism and presence in the streets helped to change so much.

"NAW, fuck this....... WE AINT HAVIN THIS SHIT NO MORE !!!!!!!!!!! #THETIMETOFIGHTBACKISNOW !!!!! #MartinLutherKing got shot on a fuckin balcony because he wasn't scared to stand up for our parents, grandparents & US.... The reason our black asses can even do 1/2 the shit we do is because that man sacrificed his life along with many others so we could..... & we ain't even got enough heart to stand together as a RACE & pay them back !!!!"

Since the video of Sterling went viral, hundreds of peaceful protestors have taken to the streets to demand justice โ€” outside of hashtags. This is the "standing together" that the Game mentions, and it is this type of action that will lead to change.

The Game, whose real name is Jayceon Taylor, is justified in his rage.

For the last 15 years, America has fallen across the board in indices rating the world's countries by levels of freedom.

Americans are under constant surveillance, our every move under a microscope by government goons "protecting us" from "terrorists." We are under constant threat of violence from the state for possessing a plant, or having a tail light out, or even just selling CDs.

Americans are constantly paranoid of those blue and red lights popping up in the rearview mirror that most always end in extortion and could very well end with a visit to the hospital, being locked in a cage, or worse.

In the Land of the Free, police killed more people in just one month of this year than the United Kingdom has in the entire 20th century.

In the Land of the Free, police kill at more than 70 times the rate of other first world nations.

In the Land of the Free, we are told to "fear the terrorists" but US police kill 58 times more people than all terrorist activity against US civilians since 9-11!

In the Land of the Free, citizens are killed by public servants at nearly twice the rate of soldiers deployed to war.

Of course, violence is not the answer, as it would prove to be entirely futile against the largest police state in the world. Not to mention, there are far too many people who are not part of government who would rise up in support of the state โ€” creating another bloody civil war.

Violence begets violence and hate begets hate โ€” and the establishment knows this and will use it against you.

The state takes the approach of coercive violence to force compliance, and it's quite apparent that this approach falls short of its desired result. It's time to adopt peace as the means to the ends โ€” not just the ends.

In the 20th century alone, governments killed 174,000,000 people as they ostensibly fought for freedom. Where has that gotten humanity?

When hate and violence are used as a means to an end, we end up with people fighting in the streets over who should be the recipient of 30% of their paychecks. Can we not move past this already?

Removal of due process, the initiation of violence, and abuse of power โ€” these are tools of the state, not of the peaceful revolution. Those who would take or harm an innocent life to incite change are no different than the mass murdering sociopaths within the government.

Do not mistake this path with pacifism, as self-defense is the root of all rights, and without self-defense we no longer exist. However, one cannot force others to change; they will only change when the information strikes them a certain way. The only thing we can have a direct effect on is our own lives.

The Game is right โ€” it's time we get off our asses and do something.

It's time we start realizing our true potential as humans and be the change we want to see in this world.
