What is truth anyway? The truth is the essence of something, its natural state, something as it really is. It is really a quest for love, because to truly love something we must know it for what it really is. If humanity wasn't in such terrible shape, these guys wouldn't want to be alone. They're probably just sick of the madness they've seen.
Moliere remarked that the young fear loneliness. Chekhov noted that you ought not to marry if you fear loneliness. Russians treasure the wilderness more than any culture I know. Are these men lonely? Or are the urbanites caught in Zamyatin's ant farm so alienated that they cannot feel their loneliness?
I'd add is that humans spent the first 150,000 years of existence in small clan or tribal groups. That's how we're hardwired.
It's only in the last 200yrs that we've been corralled into cities - with Agenda 21 reinforcing that disastrous move.
Cities are not good habitats for humans on any measure of quality of life or sustainability or creativity.
I'm so happy I got out.
