A ballistic missile = A missile with a high, arching trajectory, that is initially powered and guided but falls under gravity onto its target.
Do you remember the imitation Apollo Rockets we once launched as kids - that parachuted down? If one was sent without a parachute, from a N. Korea beach into their ocean (the Sea of Japan) - THAT would be the equivalent of exactly WHAT little this 'news article' provides.
"medium-range ballistic missile" not defined. Probably as THEY define it? One of those toys that gets past the breaking waves onshore. (Sarcasm? No. Realistic cynicism? Yes.)
