Evil can only succeed with centralized authority. That is always it's goal. All other objectives of evil are dependent upon the centralization of authority and military power. It's not a mystery, rather it's the history of humankind, and it's been repeated many times.
Yes, but isn't this a function of where we are? Purgatory? Eden after the 'Fall'? Or 'Oz', with the goal of 'waking up' and realizing WTF is going on and why? Of course every well intentioned leader and/or govt goes bad, just like fruit, that is again a function of time within the constraints of where we are, Purgatory, a place where the 'dark side' rules, so of course, the tendency is towards things to go 'bad', as that is the default pattern of this place, despite the innate tendency of its people towards peace, of the animal variety anyway. The only variable seems to be how quickly things go 'bad' before causing a reaction against it from without and within, which is inevitable eventually, as all such systems seem designed to see how much it/they can get away with. How do they know the limit without testing it? Every succeeding generation just pushes that limit a little further until the last one goes too far... and the game resets. Isn't it just like one of those typical science experiments our govts are so fond of funding these days? "As above, so below" and vice versa in reflection. But governments, like machines, are subject to breaking down and in constant need of repair when being forced to operate beyond engineered specifications, which is why it is said that empires are in constant need to apply force or face the inevitable entrophy in such a system. We see this today in our global ponzi empire, forever in need of ever more energy to feed its own hunger, which is insatiable, always hungry for more, ever more. So the specs are constantly being changed, which changes us, which feeds ever more instability into the equation, which is forever threatening to go out of control as they attempt to push that limit ever more, as ever addict feels a need to do.
Perhaps best said by the Rolling Stones? "I can't get no, Satisfaction'' Which always leads to "You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometime you find, You get what you need'. So, maybe this is what we need? If not, why would we and our govts be here?
Politics was an invention of religion. It is a religious based power structure which operated the illusion of the political systems. All political figures bow before these structures as their own power is dependent upon their grace.
It would be an error to conclude that the three dominate religions are themselves the basis of this power, for they are all themselves merely the most potent forms of mind control and as such they serve another master.

The final collaboration of Lifting The Veil
Political power -- armed central authority, with states and war -- is it part of human nature? Is it necessary for human communities? Or is it a tool that ruling elites use to live at the expense of communities? A tool that does violence to human nature and the world?
Engines of Domination offers a theory of political power as a tool for making tools of human beings -- an engine that converts human energy into authority and privilege for the rulers. Invented in the Bronze Age, brilliantly refined for six thousand years, today the engine has caused a human emergency that threatens to destroy our world.
This documentary makes a powerful argument that there is only one way to save the future. Armed central authority must be abolished, giving way to a world of peaceful voluntary communities -- in other words, an argument for anarchism.
From the creators of Unveiled and Lifted comes a visual adaptation of Mark Corske's book Engines of Domination.
