Few inhabitants: Csespel island in Hungary, the quiet spot where four bodes were found buried in a large pit
A serial killer who buried his victims alive was caught yesterday after one of his captives managed to dig himself out of his grave and call the police.

The victim said he had been lured into the woods by the alleged killer to drink beer with a couple who lived there.

But after a few drinks the trio set upon him, tied his hands behind his back and forced him into a hole in the ground before burying him up to his neck.

Few inhabitants: Csespel island in Hungary, the quiet spot where four bodes were found buried in a large pit.

They stole his possessions and forced him to reveal his pin number.

But when they left, the victim managed to free his hands, claw himself out of the hole and fight off the killer's dog who had been left to guard him.

Covered in blood and mud, the victim in Hungary ran out of the forest to seek help. No one would stop to assist him because of the state he was in so he called the police only when he reached his flat.

The killer admitted to the murders and led the police to the spot, where they discovered the remains of four bodies buried in a large pit.

Hungarian police fear more bodies may be found in the forest, which is on an island in the river Danube in Budapest.

The killer is allegedly a former member of the Serb paramilitary group known as The Tigers run by the late warlord Zeljko 'Arkan' Raznatovic, who was accused of genocide and crimes against humanity in the Yugoslav wars before being assassinated in 2000.

He is reportedly Serb or Macedonian.

The National Bureau of Investigation said in a statement that medical experts would establish the causes and circumstances of the deaths, adding it would not give further details as the investigation was ongoing.

The spot where the bodies were found is in an isolated spot on Csespel island, far from main roads and with very poor access. The island has several areas of abandoned factories, scrub and woodland where few people live.
