Science of the Spirit
Through his natural ability of seeing a subject from many angles, Richards encourages students to engage more fully with the world and to think for themselves - something he did not do until his third year in college. This article is a good example of this... [Link]The quote starts off on the 2nd page with empathy:
'...The largest age group at more than 92 million Americans is heavily dependent on their parents' money -- and underemployed. A recent Pew Research study found that a third get financial support from families and only four in 10 work full-time jobs.
As a result, the only investing for many younger adults involves retirement saving plans, such as 401(k)s, often automatically created by employers.

The article demonstrates NO EMPATHY starting here; Christine Fahlund and wealth managers have 'designs' on these kids future resources - Lack of Empathy by design for profit????:

The good news for wealth managers is that Generation Y is ready to listen.
"They do actually want to learn; they just don't know how to start the process," said Todd Romer, founder of financial education initiative Young Money...'
This reminds me of the Wall Street campaign more than a few months ago, to get / encourage retirees and small investors with a substantial nest egg to invest in Annuities. I haven't heard too much lately, I guess, and hope, this plan to steal even more from the people was a dismal failure, I hope.
It seems to me Generation Y 'gets it', at least about the financial future of the U.S.!
Per the Empathy experiment, this video should go viral because the people of the U.S. have been brainwashed for well over 100 years, e.g, profit over well being of others, fantasy versus knowledge, acquisition of wealth versus actual needs...
This is a short and sweet presentation that can reach a lot of people in a very few minutes, possibly resulting in a few changes of perspective for some people.
Sam Richards is giving a useful example of what a teacher could do to help students develop understanding of what other people think and feel, provided they even wish to know and are able to.
