The U.S. Geological Survey confirms that East Tennessee was rocked by its second small earthquake in four days over the weekend.

The most recent quake happened at 2:52 PM on Sunday in Bradley County and had a magnitude of 1.3.

USGS officials say its epicenter was located six miles north of Cleveland, in an open field along Eureka Road. The exact location of the quake was about 10 miles underground.

Another small earthquake with a magnitude of 1.0 was recorded last Wednesday in Monroe County.

Earthquakes can occur at anytime across the region, which sits on the Eastern Tennessee Seismic Zone. Over the last few months, there have been several recorded quakes in East Tennessee.

At least three earthquakes occurred over seven days in late December 2008. All three were within 75 miles of TVA's Kingston Fossil Plant. The series of quakes have led to minor speculation on if they possibly played a role in the December 22nd coal ash spill.
