Canada: The Valley Of The Headless Men

Image

The Nahanni Valley of Canada's Northwest Territories has been called one of the last truly unexplored places in the world. Lying above the 60th Parallel, it is accessible only by air, water or a long overland journey from the village of Tungsten. As a result, much of the area remains unexplored, despite being declared a national park in 1976, and a World Heritage Site in 1978.

Native tales tell of an unknown evil lurking within 200 Mile Gorge, and most avoid the area. Local oral history also tells of a mountain-dwelling tribe known as the Naha. The Naha were feared by the region's Dene people, as they often descended to raid nearby villages. These tales end with the rapid, mysterious disappearance of the Naha. No trace of this tribe has ever been found.

Unexplained Mystery: The Devil's Sea (The Dragon's Triangle)

Located near to the Japanese coast in the Pacific Ocean is the vile vortex of Dragon's Triangle or the Devil's Sea. As the title indicates, the area extends as a triangle between Japan and the Islands of Bonin, including a major portion of the Philippine Sea. Such an infamous reputation for this oceanic area has been not gained contemporarily, but exists for decades and even centuries, if some records are to be believed.

Another synonym for the Dragon's Triangle is the Pacific Bermuda Triangle on account of it being located in the Pacific Ocean. The area has been in news since several decades for unexplained incidences of vanishing of ships.

US: It's a bird. It's a plane. It's a UFO?

Cowley County, Kansas -- Residents in Cowley County are still talking about a mystery craft, seen being towed down US 77 Monday.

Sitting inside Lindly's Appliance Store, Kammi Root is used to seeing large machinery towed down US 77. But what she saw Monday afternoon is something she won't soon forget.

"There was this funny sphere that went through on this big trailer and my first thought was, 'That looks like a UFO,'" said Root.

A huge 32 foot craft, wrapped in tarp, was as mysterious as the transport company who called Sheriff Don Read for help.

"They told us that it was an aircraft and that they had explored other ways to transport it but this was the best way for them to do it and they asked us not to say a whole lot about it," said Read.

After all, the massive load's shape would certainly draw enough attention on its own.

UK: Mysterious Rain of Apples Stuns Drivers

Image
Crumble: A street in Coventry is littered with mushed-up apples after the freak incident on Monday evening
The inclement conditions at this time of year normally cause a variety of traffic and logistical problems as motorists battle their way through wind, rain and snow.

But one freak of nature drivers do not normally have to contend with is flying fruit, as mystified residents did in Coventry on Monday night.

Bemused motorists were forced to take evasive action when an avalanche of apples descended from the sky just after the rush-hour.

Comment: U.S. researcher Charles Fort (1874 - 1932) spent years studying foreign rains. He collected about 60,000 clippings from newspapers, magazines, and other sources about unusual occurrences. Throughout his career, Fort managed to record instances of raining crosses, coins, snakes, ancient Chinese stamps, blood, frogs, insects, cotton, oils, and liquid substances.

Local residents felt a slight tremor at about 10 a.m. Saturday. Residents in Newark, Bergen County and Sussex County felt it, too - something that made houses shake and water ripple.

It wasn't an earthquake.

But what was it?

U.S. Geological Survey geophysicist Paul Caruso isn't sure.

"We received a number of reports that people felt something," Caruso said from the National Earthquake Information Center in Colorado. "We don't know what it was."

Local residents took to Facebook and Twitter to describe what they thought was an earthquake.

UFOs in Missouri, US: Police officer spots 'round object' at tree tops

Image
This is the second UFO observed by a police officer in just a few days. Missouri residents have been reporting a very high number of unidentified objects lately.
A Missouri police officer at Lee's Summit reports watching a "round object with very bright, white lights" that hovered just above the tree tops, according to December 2, 2011, testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The officer was on-duty at the time and was at the intersection of 291 Highway and 150 Highway when the object was noticed to the west.

"It would take a baseball held at arm's length to cover the object," the officer stated. "The white lights had a blue hue to them and all of the lights were on the bottom of the craft. The lights were strobing, and there was no sound whatsoever. It was a clear night with no cloud cover, and the object was very low, just above treetop level."

The officer was able to capture the object with a dashboard cam - although the video was not submitted with the original report.

US: Woman's face catches on fire during surgery

It was supposed to be a routine outpatient surgery to remove some growths from Kim Grice's head. But something went horribly wrong during the Tuesday morning procedure and a flash fire seared Grice's face and neck.

The 29-year-old mother of three was rushed by helicopter to the University of South Alabama Burn Unit with burns to her face and neck.

Grice's mom, who had been waiting in the lobby of the North Okaloosa Medical Center in Crestview, Fla., knew something bad had happened.

"At 8 a.m. two patients were back there," Ann Grice told the Crestview Florida News Bulletin. "One was my daughter. At 10:20 emergency medical and the fire department pulled up and there was a fifty-fifty chance that they were coming through the doors for my daughter. I went to the desk and no one would tell me what was wrong."

When hospital personnel finally explained that Kim's face had caught fire, Ann was stunned.

"I am in shock," she told the Bulletin. "This is not what happens with a routine outpatient surgery. She had headaches and the doctor was going to remove three cysts and biopsy them. But something went bad wrong and my daughter is now in a burn unit with burn specialists and I still don't know what happened. No one will tell me why or how this happened to her."

What happened to Kim Grice was not an isolated incident. Experts estimate that each year 650 fires flare up in operating rooms around the country. Some patients recover with scars and emotional damage. Some die from burns and smoke inhalation.
