Northern Territory - It seems this year's Top End UFO season has started - with the first sighting being recorded from Australia's most famous UFOlogist, Alan Ferguson.

"... While going out to check the skies like I do regularly... I saw a UFO down the back of the block," Mr Ferguson reported on his website.

The UFO hunter from Acacia Hills, 250km north of Katherine, said the sighting happened just before 8pm on Tuesday night.

"The weather was clear and there was no moon or even planes around the area," Mr Ferguson said.

"The UFO ... hover(ed) from side to side. The object looked like flashing red, green and white lights through the binoculars and you could not make out a body shape.

When Men in Black 3 opens everywhere over Memorial Day weekend, most moviegoers will just be hoping this sequel matches the original for popcorn-munching fun.

But there are many people who say they've been victimized by and live in fear of real MIBs. And those stories, told for decades, are just as terrifying as they are detailed.

Ever since the early 1950s, long before the first "Men in Black" movie hit the silver screen in 1997, men dressed in identical black suits, hats and sunglasses, claiming to be government agents, have reportedly shown up in black cars at the homes or offices of people who reported UFO sightings.

According to those who were paid these unwelcome visits, the MIBs threatened or harassed the eyewitnesses into staying quiet about their UFO encounters.

Mysterious rattling and tremors in north Scotland blamed on aircraft?

A sonic boom has been blamed for tremors that were felt by residents across the north of Scotland. The strange vibrations were phoned into police late on Tuesday night by people in Cults, Inverbervie, Aberdeen, Stonehaven, Cove, and even Arbroath.

A spokesman for Grampian Police confirmed the reports and said the force had received around a dozen calls between 8.45pm and 11.15pm on Tuesday.

He said: "Grampian Police can confirm that following the numerous reports from members of the public who felt 'tremors' during the evening of Tuesday, May 22, the British Geological Survey have reported no significant seismic activity. No reports of injuries or damage have been received.

"The Ministry of Defence have confirmed that they regularly conduct supersonic flight over sea around the whole of the UK, when aircraft do fly at such speeds a sonic boom is created that could be mistaken for an explosion or a tremor.

Finley Point, Montana - After a prolonged absence of Flathead Nessie sightings, the lake's elusive monster may be out there after all. That's what Pam Moriarty, her daughter Laura Barthrop and Justin Lagemann are wondering after the trio viewed a strange object swimming against the current about 7:30 p.m., Saturday, May 12.

From the picture windows in Pam cliff top home on the northwest end of Finley Point, they watched for about five minutes as it swam northeasterly away from shore toward the main part of the lake. They were so surprised that Pam briefly forgot her camera was nearby. She rushed to retrieve it and managed to snap a picture, but it was too far away to identify.

Channel Islands mystery boom shakes buildings

An investigation has been launched into the cause of a mysterious boom which shook buildings across the Island on Saturday afternoon.

Hundreds of Islanders reported hearing a loud bang - similar to a sonic boom - at 1.04 pm.

The boom was so loud it rattled doors and windows from Gorey to St Ouen and even measured on the Island's seismograph in St Aubin.

But despite speculation that the noise was caused by a military jet travelling faster than the speed of sound, Jersey Airport has confirmed that no aircraft capable of causing such a noise was in the Island's airspace at the time.

Mystery 'earthquake' boom near McCall puzzles scientists

McCall, Idaho -- You could call it a mystery earthquake, a sonic boom, or maybe nothing at all. Several witnesses report waking up to what they say was a small earthquake south of McCall early Thursday morning around 4:30 a.m. However, those shaky claims have employees at Idaho's U.S. Geological Survey scratching their heads in disbelief.

Mickey Hart lives five miles south of McCall just off Hwy. 55. The 50-year-old resident says she's only experienced one earthquake here, and it was in the summer of 2001. The second earthquake came early Thursday morning around 4:30 a.m. Hart says that's when her beloved border collie, Mr. Mac, detected the tremor before it hit.

"It was four in the morning, and the house shook," Hart said. "It woke up my husband and scared the crap out of my dog." However, for some folks here in Idaho, those reports just don't seem to make sense. U.S. Geological Survey Technical Information Specialist Tim Merrick said his agency's seismographs haven't shown any recent earthquake activity in Idaho. "If there was anything, it would almost certainly show up," Merrick said. "Our seismology network across the United States is very sensitive."

Mysterious Rocks Burn California Woman

San Clemente - A woman suffered third-degree burns after what appeared to be the spontaneous combustion of rocks that had been scooped up from a Southern California beach, a fire official said.

The 43-year-old woman's children collected the rocks Saturday at San Clemente Beach, and she tucked them into the pocket of her shorts, according to the Orange County Register.

While the woman was standing in her kitchen Saturday after returning from the beach, the rocks somehow caught fire, burning the woman's right thigh and knee, said Capt. Marc Stone of the Orange County Fire Authority.
