As the weather warms up, it's tempting to grab the family and the dogs and head out for a hike. But if you live in a few key areas, you might be putting yourself at risk of a scary disease.

According to CBS News, ticks in the Northeast and the Great Lakes area have been found to be carrying the Powassan virus. It's a rare condition that produces symptoms similar to Lyme disease, but more severe, and there's no cure.

The disease can lead to encephalitis and meningitis, and give you permanent neurological issues afterward. And it can act much more quickly than Lyme disease, giving you symptoms within hours of being bitten by a tick, according to Fox News. About 10% of cases that lead to encephalitis are fatal.

Powassan is extremely rare, having affected only 50 people in the U.S. over the past decade. In contrast, 30,000 cases of Lyme disease are reported to the CDC each year (though the number of people diagnosed with Lyme disease each year in the United States is estimated to be around 300,000). People who work outdoors or go camping in affected areas are at a higher risk of infection.

Regaining power over our own health - power that has been taken from us by uncaring bureaucracies and arrogant authorities - was the goal of Ivan Illich's 1976 book Medical Nemesis, which detailed an epidemic of physician-caused death and illness. Unfortunately, this epidemic continues, and so does an epidemic of physician-caused anger, anxiety and despair.

Today, it is not news that US medicine is killing us in huge numbers. Even the American Hospital Association now admits to 98,000 deaths per year caused by hospital mistakes, and recent research shows this total is far higher. In 2013, the Journal of Patient Safety reported that, at the lower limit, 210,000 deaths per year are associated with preventable harm in hospitals, and that the "true number of premature deaths associated with preventable harm to patients is estimated at more than 400,000 per year." That makes it the third-leading cause of death in the United States (behind heart disease and cancer). And this total doesn't include outpatient treatment errors, which research shows include a similar amount of malpractice.

There are all sorts of recommendations out there telling us when to wash our hands: before we eat, before we cook, after we shake hands, after touching something that has been touched by someone else - it seems that we as a society are simple washing too much. Others don't leave the house without anti-bacterial gel or spray and classrooms often contain a near-chemical bath of soaps and germ-killers. But in all of this hype of being germ-free, are we actually harming our health? Research says yes, and the issue is today known as the hygiene hypothesis.

So far the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has confirmed that 23 U.S. poultry farms have been infected with the deadly H5N2 avian bird flu virus in a total of at least 7 states, including California, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Missouri, Kansas, and Arkansas bringing the number of dead dinner birds, turkeys, to over 1.2 million in total as officials race the clock to contain the outbreak.

While officials maintain the massive die off, culling, of the fowl should pose little to no health threat to the general public, the loss has added to growing fears that this years poultry stock will weigh in at an all-time low. And coupled with the fact that California's extreme drought situation might affect up to 50% of America's, fruit, vegetable and nut supply within the next year or two we may soon be facing a massive food crisis.

Australians who refuse to vaccinate their children will no longer receive child care subsidies and family tax benefits, Prime Minister Tony Abbott announced on Sunday.

The widely anticipated government crackdown comes as Australia sees an increase in the number of so-called vaccine objectors.

"The choice made by families not to immunise their children is not supported by public policy or medical research nor should such action be supported by taxpayers in the form of child care payments," Abbott said.

The government will on January 1 remove a "conscientious objection" provision and permit exemptions only on strict medical or religious grounds, he said.

Parents who cite religion would have to be affiliated with a religious group with a registered objection approved by the government.

Dr. Suzanne Humphries: Thank you, Jonathan. Thank you for having me.

Jonathan Landsman: Dr. Humphries, the mainstream media has been constantly highlighting the Disney Land measles outbreak and blaming this on unvaccinated children. What are the facts about this outbreak?

Dr. Suzanne Humphries: Okay, well, it's very important to understand the exact numbers because if you just listen to the news, you would think that something that has never happened before is going on and the world is being taken by storm by this terrible deadly measles virus. And what happened is as of February 11th of this year, there were a total of 125 measles cases, with rash, that occurred between December 28th, 2014 and February 8th, 2015. It is said that the origin of these outbreaks was at the Disney California theme park, although they have no idea who the index case is or where that person came from. Anything you hear on the news is just surmising and assumption; they have no idea. What we know about the 110 patients that are California residents, there's a breakdown of who was vaccinated and who wasn't vaccinated, and this is what to really look for when looking at these reports. Among those 110 California patients, 47 of them, which is nearly half, had an unknown or undocumented vaccination status. And this is very interesting because these cases were all diagnosed and confirmed, yet, for some reason, they weren't able to determine if these people were vaccinated or not. And so, it's usually just assumed that these people are unvaccinated when they're reported.

However, it's possible that they could have all been vaccinated with one, two, or three vaccines. Okay, then we know there were 13 vaccinated people, 5 of whom had 1 dose of the vaccine, 7 had 2 doses, 1 had 3 doses, and 1 had immunoglobulin seropositivity documented, which indicated a prior vaccination. Now, we have the unvaccinated, of which there were 49. Of them, one quarter of them couldn't have been vaccinated anyway because they were too young, so they're counted as unvaccinated, even though these are not people that exempted out. That leaves us with 37 more vaccine-eligible people, and all we know is that 28 of them - 18 of the 28 that are left over were children less than 18 years old, and 10 were adults. Now, we're left with 9 that we can't account for, but Dr. Schuchat of the CDC keeps saying that there were many cases that weren't vaccinated because they were sick at the time when the vaccine was due. And I find that an interesting comment, especially given my history of knowing that when you vaccinate sick people, very bad things happen, yet the CDC is continuously pushing, and the message there is not to opt out of vaccines just because you're sick. So, all in all, we have 18 patients, out of 110 patients, who we can say were of vaccinating age, less than 18 years old, 28 total that were opting out of vaccines, 10 of which were adults. And this is what we're making a big fuss out of.

Do you consider healthy, clean eating to be a priority in your life? According to the 'psychiatric officials' who want to add healthy eating to the extensive list of mental disorders, you have an eating disorder. 'Orthorexia nervosa' to be specific.

We first told you about this back in February of this year, when major news outlets began pushing the term 'orthorexia nervos' non-stop in declaring healthy eating a mental disorder.

The story, written by Jeffrey Jaxen for Natural Society, received over 57,000 shares on Facebook and several million viewers who could not believe the reality of the piece. Unfortunately for sane eaters who do place a priority on eating right, the story was entirely correct.

And now, we are seeing the emergence of orthorexia nervos in the news once more. This time, we are being told it's the newest 'eating disorder' that we could all be 'suffering from'. Because if you don't want to eat things like Monsanto's cancer-linked chemicals, artificial additives, and high-fructose corn syrup, you must be crazy.

The Daily Mail reports breaks down the latest declaration from 'psychiatric officials' who are heavily pushing the orthorexia nervos eating disorder:

"Some clinicians argue orthorexia nervosa should be recognised as a separate eating disorder and have proposed clinical DSM diagnostic criteria. They note distinct pathological behaviours with orthorexia nervosa, including a motivation for feelings of perfection or purity rather than weight loss, as they see with anorexia and bulimia.

If ever there were a body of numbskulls taking in the "cool aid" of corporate largess, lobbyists and consensus science, the U.S. Congress, apparently, fits that bill when it comes to the hard-core facts regarding toxic ingredients in vaccines along with the so-called 'science of vaccines' and the vested-interest roles they have played in modern life.

Nothing expresses that more than the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986 (42 U.S.C. §§ 300aa-1 to 300aa-34), which has become more of a nightmare, especially for anyone who's been damaged by vaccines. Congress apparently went 'off the rails' on that one; never has bothered to investigate all the damage vaccines are causing—see the VAERS reporting system—and now, the current members of the U.S. House of Representatives issued a House Resolution—H.Res.117—that readers need to know about.

H.Res.117 is nothing short of a true travesty that has hallmarks of Big Pharma spin all over it. Facts and figures are so outlandish, everyone should be challenging their congressperson, if he/she signed it, to provide written proof of where they got those 'facts and figures'. It's nothing short of a conspiracy of ignorance regarding the true scientific facts about toxic vaccines.
