At long last: German retail giant removes glyphosate from 350 stores

I recently snapped a photo from an advertising circular that was delivered to my home, proudly promoting Monsanto's 'probably carcinogenic' Round Up, on sale no less, at a local hardware store. While US garden and DIY stores are still selling cancer-causing poison in a jug, a German retail giant will no longer carry glyphosate-containing products as of September 30, 2015

More than 350 'toom Baumarkt DIY' stores belonging to the REWE Group are removing any product that contains this endocrine disrupting chemical concoction, and as of today, no such products can be re-ordered from their stores.

The company told the world about this new policy just recently in a press release (in German).

However, by the end of 2013, Toom Baumarkt had begun to remove this product and approximately 60 percent of glyphosate-containing products were removed from their shelves.

Instead, Toom Baumarkt offers its customers alternative, environmentally acceptable products. As the EU determines whether or not to ban glyphosate, the store will likely see sales soar, as people around the world are becoming educated about just how problematic glyphosate can be to humans, animals and the ecosystem.

Genetically engineered crops, or GMOs, have led to an explosion in growers' use of herbicides, with the result that children at hundreds of elementary schools across the country go to class close by fields that are regularly doused with escalating amounts of toxic weed killers.

GMO corn and soybeans have been genetically engineered to withstand being blasted with glyphosate - an herbicide that the World Health Organization recently classified as "probably carcinogenic to humans." The proximity of many schools to fields blanketed in the chemical puts kids at risk of exposure.

But it gets worse.

Comment: Schools are surrounded with toxic weed killers, filled with toxic EMF and toxic 'food'. And then when the day is done most of the children then go home to live in poverty. The American Dream is a twisted nightmare. For more on Monsanto's contribution, check out:

Scientists appeal to the UN on the emerging wireless public health crisis

190 scientists from 38 nations have submitted the International EMF Scientist Appeal to the United Nations, UN member states and the World Health Organization (WHO) requesting they adopt more protective exposure guidelines for electromagnetic fields (EMF) and wireless technology in the face of increasing evidence of risk from this rapidly increasing environmental pollutant.

The scientists who have signed the Appeal have collectively published over 2,000 peer-reviewed papers on the biological or health effects of non-ionizing radiation. It was submitted on 11 may 2015 to His Excellency Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations, to Dr. Margaret Chan, MD, Director General of the World Health Organization, and to the United Nations Member States.

A deadly typhoid 'superbug' is spreading across Africa and Asia, creating a "previously under-appreciated and ongoing epidemic," a groundbreaking international study warns. H58, driven by a single family of the bacteria, is resistant to most antibiotics.

Researchers from the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, who have been studying the far-reaching infection, say typhoid affects around 30 million people each year. According to researchers, H58 has emerged and spread throughout Asia and Africa over the last 30 years.

Evidence of a recent unreported wave of H58 transmission in many countries in Africa has also been found.

The scientists say the study results add to the message that "bacteria do not obey international borders."

What sounds even worse is that H58 is currently "displacing other typhoid strains that have been established over decades and centuries throughout the typhoid endemic world, completely transforming the genetic architecture of the disease," the researchers, whose work has been published in the journal Nature Genetic, have pointed out in a statement. The large-scale research involved some 74 scientists in almost two dozen countries.

UK stroke charity warns of 'alarming' rise in number of victims

The number of people in their 40s and 50s being afflicted by strokes is soaring, with obesity and sedentary lifestyles thought to be behind the rise.

The Stroke Association described the increase as alarming and shocking and warned that the cost of treatment - already at £9bn a year - would increase.

The trend is "a sad indictment" of the nation's health, the association said, and urged people to be more aware of the risk factors.

Official NHS data shows that the number of men aged 40 to 54 in England who were hospitalised after a stroke grew by 46% from 4,260 in 2000 to 6,221 last year. The figure for women of the same age was 4,604, up by 30% from 3,529.

Hospital admission data reveals a 25% jump in the number of people aged 20 to 64, suffering a stroke between 2000 and 2014.

"There is an alarming increase in the numbers of people having a stroke in working age", said Jon Barrick, the charity's chief executive. "These figures show that stroke can no longer be seen as a disease of older people. As the figures show, it can happen to anyone at any time".

Rising numbers of overweight people help explain the increase among the middle-aged, he said. "We've known for some time that obesity levels in the UK have been on the rise, putting thousands at increased risk of a stroke. This goes some way in explaining these shocking stroke rates, which are a sad indictment of the current state of the UK's health.

Mainstream press goes quiet on deaths and hospitalizations of babies vaccinated in Simojovel, Mexico

The indigenous municipality of Simojovel, in the state of Chiapas, Mexico reported the death of two babies after the administration of vaccines against hepatitis B (HepB), tuberculosis (BCG), and rotavirus.

Within hours of receiving the vaccines, 37 babies out of a total of 52 vaccinated had adverse reactions; some began to convulse with the tragic result of two dead and 37 hospitalized, 13 of whom reported to be in critical condition.

According to the Catholic organization Pueblo Creyente, the dead included a 30-day-old girl and a 28-day-old boy.

The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) ordered the preventive suspension of the BCG (Tuberculosis), Rotavirus and Hepatitis B vaccine, after what they suspect were allergic reactions to the vaccines administered to the minors in Chiapas.

Although this news has been widely disseminated in the Spanish-language press, it has been virtually ignored by the English-language press.

Six years ago, Dr Erica Mallery-Blythe moved to the country, stopped carrying a mobile phone and sacrificed a successful career in emergency medicine to focus on a new medical interest - radiation emitted by Wi-Fi, mobiles and other wireless devices.

She is now one of the country's few professional advisers on medical conditions related to radiofrequency (RF) radiation and other electromagnetic fields (EMFs).

"I was using wireless devices before most people I knew - I loved it," says Mallery-Blythe, who was ahead of the tech trend even in 1985 when she was handed her first mobile phone, aged 10.

"But as soon as I started digesting the literature on EMFs it was a no-brainer," she says of her decision to relinquish wireless gadgets.

"I wasn't willing to take that kind of risk for something that was purely convenient."

Her interest in EMFs started in 2009 after she began noticing increasing trends in certain symptoms - headaches, insomnia, fatigue and palpitations, but also more serious conditions including brain tumours in young people, fertility problems and accelerating neurological diseases such as early onset Alzheimer's and autism. As yet there is still no scientific proof that relates these diseases to radiation, but Mallery-Blythe is among a not insignificant number of scientists and practitioners concerned by those studies that do highlight cause for more precaution.

What a concussion looks like inside the brain
A team of researchers based at McMaster University has developed a new understanding of post-concussion syndrome, answering questions that have been plaguing researchers in the field.

Their study, published in the medical journal Brain, Behavior and Immunity, provides an explanation for why many people with even very trivial head injuries, or even injuries to other parts of their bodies, experience incapacitating post-concussion like syndromes.

These symptoms include headaches, dizziness, cognitive impairment and other neuropsychiatric symptoms such as irritability, anxiety and insomnia.

"It's inflammation that they have in common," said Michel Rathbone, a professor of medicine for McMaster's Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine and a lead author of the paper. "Rather than a concussion, we'd like to propose a unifying umbrella term of post-inflammatory brain syndromes or PIBS."

Comment: Inflammation has been found to contribute to major physical diseases and is also implicated in psychological stress and depression.
