Of Course He Did . . .

Donald Trump just got his latest "COVID" shot. This indicates he still believes that these shots are vaccines - which is not far-removed from believing in Yogic Flying. (Just believe hard enough and you'll fly!)

It'd be funny were it not for what it implies about Trump's views regarding these drugs, which he has steadfastly refused to repudiate and implicitly endorses by taking them (assuming he actually did take them; it's possible it's all for show). If the president takes these drugs, then what does the president think about those who prefer not to?

Probably that they're "losers" and "stupid."

His defenders - some of them - say he never actually forced these drugs on anyone; that he merely facilitated the Warp Speeding of them and deserves credit for that because (so these some say) the availability of these drugs ended the "pandemic." More finely, they claim the availability of the drugs ended the lockdowns and the endless (so it seemed at the time) attempt to force the Face Diapering forever of the entire population. The drugs made it possible to end the Face Diapering and all the rest - so some say. Never mind that it didn't. The Memory Hole is deep. People were being pressured to Diaper long after the drugs came out; including people who had taken the drugs.

Best of the Web: Neocons David Frum and Douglas Murray secretly drafted speeches for Israeli ambassador

Leaked emails from former Israeli UN Ambassador Ron Prosor show David Frum, Douglas Murray offering to write his speeches and a CNN producer fundraising for Israel's Iron Dome during Israel's 2014 war

David Frum, a senior editor at the liberal flagship magazine The Atlantic, had previously enjoyed a career as a speechwriter for George W. Bush, helping Bush coin the notorious phrase "Axis of Evil." Since that time, Frum has enjoyed the limelight as a celebrated political pundit of the anti-Trump resistance movement.

Despite that shift in careers, it seems that Frum never fully gave up his true love: writing speeches for powerful political figures.

Frum started his senior editorial role at The Atlantic in March 2014. In July of 2014, during an Israeli military campaign in the Gaza Strip that killed over 2,200 Palestinians, including over 551 children, and wounded over 11,000, Frum helped write a speech for the then-Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, Ron Prosor. Prosor is now ambassador to Germany.

AI could wipe out 100 million US jobs - Bernie Sanders report

The technology is being developed not for public benefit, but to increase corporate profits, Senator Benie Sanders has claimed.

Artificial intelligence and automation technologies pose a threat to nearly 100 million jobs in the US over the next decade, according to a report released on Monday by Senator Bernie Sanders.

The report suggests the disruption will be widespread, affecting both white- and blue-collar professions.

According to Sanders, the ranking member of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, AI and automation could replace 40% of registered nurses, 47% of truck drivers, 64% of accountants, 65% of teaching assistants, and 89% of fast food workers.

The report said:
"The agricultural revolution unfolded over thousands of years. The industrial revolution took more than a century. Artificial labor could reshape the economy in less than a decade."

Comment: The warnings are out there...further proof:
Artificial intelligence could eliminate half of all entry-level white-collar jobs within the next five years, the CEO of American AI research company Anthropic, Dario Amodei has warned.

In a statement to Axios published on Wednesday, Amodei, who co-founded Anthropic and is a former OpenAI executive, said he hopes to jolt the US government and fellow developers into preparing for the consequences of rapid automation.

AI development companies are already working on systems that could soon replace workers in technology, finance, law, consulting and other white-collar professions, particularly entry-level positions, Amodei claimed.

The public and politicians are still "unaware" that a major shift is about to happen and insisted that companies and officials needed to stop "sugar-coating" what lies ahead, particularly for younger workers.

Earlier this month, a report by the Linux Foundation, commissioned by Meta, found that open source AI is already transforming the economy by boosting efficiency, innovation, cost savings, and revenue gains.

However, Amodei has expressed concern that people could continue to stay ignorant of the threat of being replaced by AI, especially if the US government chooses to stay silent on the issue out of fear of spooking workers or falling behind China.

Soon, "almost overnight," business leaders will see savings in replacing humans with AI and implement a change "en masse." They will stop opening new jobs or backfilling existing ones, and replace human workers with automated alternatives, Amodei claimed.

He has proposed several mitigation strategies, including a special index to track AI's impact across occupations, and briefings for lawmakers to raise awareness. He also suggested a "token tax" — a system where a percentage of AI-generated revenue would be redistributed by the government.

Amodei's warning comes as a number of major companies have recently started laying off a considerable amount of workers, which some believe is being done in anticipation of major shifts due to AI.

Earlier this month, Microsoft fired some 6,000 workers, mostly engineers, despite reporting strong sales and profits. Walmart has cut 1,500 corporate jobs to "simplify operations" while Crowdstrike - a Texas based cybersecurity company - has slashed 500 positions citing "a market and technology inflection point, with AI reshaping every industry."
Stanford University weighs in with a chilling AI job prediction:
The number of job opportunities for young professionals in AI-affected sectors across the US has dropped by 13% over the past three years, according to a report from the Stanford Digital Economy Lab. Researchers cautioned that smart technologies are swiftly reshaping career prospects for entry-level workers.

This figure adds to growing concerns that recent college graduates are struggling to find work in fields which are shrinking due to automation. The report, 'Canaries in the Coal Mine? Six Facts about the Recent Employment Effects of Artificial Intelligence,' warns that these early signs may indicate broader labor market disruptions as AI adoption accelerates.

The study identifies software development, customer service, accounting, and administrative support as the most affected industries.

The impact is especially strong among workers aged 22 to 25, with employment in these roles declining by 6% since late 2022. Entry-level software developers have been hit hardest, facing a 20% drop in job postings for their age group.

In contrast, more senior employees appear to be less affected. In fact, in the four most vulnerable industries, employment among older workers has increased 6-9% since 2022.

Meanwhile, in sectors less exposed to AI-driven automation, such as logistics, maintenance, and other hands-on fields, the number of entry-level positions for young workers has grown 6-13%.

The report also highlights that employment is declining among young professionals in roles where AI primarily automates tasks, while growth is occurring in occupations where it plays a more supportive role.

Researchers examined whether other economic factors might explain these shifts, but concluded that AI-driven automation is the primary culprit driving the trend.

These changes became most noticeable in late 2022, coinciding with the rapid rise of generative AI tools. The public launch of ChatGPT in November of that year marked a turning point, according to the study, and is seen as a major driver of recent adjustments in the labor market.

The report draws upon data from ADP, the largest payroll software provider in the US, which tracks millions of workers across tens of thousands of firms.

New evidence of Ukraine backing terrorism in Africa - Moscow

New evidence has emerged of Ukrainian support for militant groups in Africa's Sahara-Sahel region, including by supplying drones, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said.

Zakharova said during a briefing on Wednesday that the Libyan Government of National Unity (GNU) has used British middlemen to establish links with Ukrainian militants. The cooperation allegedly includes delivery of strike UAVs from Kiev and training by instructors from Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate.

"There is evidence confirming cooperation between the GNU and Ukrainians in organizing and supporting terrorist operations in Sahel countries, including Niger," Zakharova said, as quoted by the Russian Foreign Ministry press service.

"Such weapons have been reportedly found among terrorist groups in Burkina Faso, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mali, Niger, Sudan, Somalia, Syria, the Central African Republic, and Chad," she said.

'Once the war ends, we'll be able to weep': Joy and trepidation in Gaza as ceasefire goes into effect

Gaza erupted in celebration as a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas was reached on Thursday. But while there has been an outpouring of joy over the prospect of an end to the genocide, many are skeptical that it's truly over.

People sing in the streets, families hug each other, and children dance — all smiling and joyfully expressing their happiness that a deal for a ceasefire, and hopefully an end to the genocide, has finally been announced.

The agreement and the captives' release were announced in the early morning hours in Palestine, and are only part of the first stage of U.S. President Trump's plan. The agreement will see a ceasefire, the release of the remaining Israeli captives in Gaza, the release of a number of Palestinian prisoners, and the retreat of Israeli forces to an agreed-upon location. It is expected to be signed between Israel and Hamas on Thursday afternoon in Egypt and will immediately go into effect.

In a statement after the announcement that a deal had been reached, Hamas said:
"After responsible and serious negotiations, the Hamas movement and the Palestinian factions engaged in discussions about Trump's plan in Sharm al-Sheikh, Egypt, aimed at reaching an end to the genocide of our Palestinian people and the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation from the Gaza Strip. The movement announced the reach of a deal that states to end the war in Gaza and the withdrawal of the occupation and aid entry and prisoner swap."

The dislocation of the West: what threatens us

Skull
Trump's perversity is unfolding in the Middle East, NATO's warmongering in Europe.

At the request of my Slovenian publisher, I have just written a new preface to La Défaite de l'Occident (The Defeat of the West), which I feel it is necessary to publish on Substack immediately. The threat of an escalation of all conflicts is becoming clearer. This text provides a schematic and provisional, but up-to-date interpretation of the development of the crisis we are experiencing. This text is in fact the conclusion of my latest interview with Diane Lagrange on Fréquence Populaire: 'Russia's victory, the isolation and fragmentation of France and the West'.
Preface to the Slovenian edition

From defeat to dislocation

Less than two years after the French publication of La Défaite de l'Occident (The Defeat of the West) in January 2024, the book's main predictions have come true. Russia has weathered the storm militarily and economically. The American military industry is exhausted. European economies and societies are on the verge of implosion. The Ukrainian army has not yet collapsed, but the stage of the West's disintegration has already been reached.

I have always been hostile to the Russophobic policies of the United States and Europe, but as a Westerner committed to liberal democracy, a Frenchman trained in research in England, the child of a mother who was a refugee in the United States during the Second World War, I am devastated by the consequences for us Westerners of the war waged without intelligence against Russia.

We are only at the beginning of the catastrophe. A tipping point is approaching, beyond which the ultimate consequences of defeat will unfold.

Comment: The West is collapsing and it didn't start with Trump either. It is an inevitable result of a society subjected to a late stage pathocracy where pathological deviants occupy all the leadership positions.

Only 48 percent of under-30 US adults have a full-time job?

I am so glad that I am not a young adult looking for a job in this very difficult economic environment. Every month, federal bureaucrats tell us that the unemployment rate in this country is low, but at this point everyone knows that the numbers that they give us are fake. The reality of the matter is that it is now "the toughest time in years" to find a good job in the United States, and that is particularly true for our young people. According to Mark Mitchell, a Rasmussen Reports survey that will soon be released will show that only 48 percent of U.S. adults under the age of 30 currently have a full-time job...
rassmussen tweet jobless rate young adults
As the results of the last presidential election demonstrated, Rasmussen is typically very accurate.

So this is an extremely alarming development.

Vast numbers of our young adults are working low-paying part-time jobs right now because that is all they can get.

Comment: How about American jobs for Americans?

One aspect of the unemployment crises that has only lately received serious attention, is the off-shoring of positions to countries with cheaper labor rates, and worse, the wholesale replacement of American workers with H-1B and other types of "temporary" workers, that somehow never seem to leave. India is currently on the hot seat for the tech industry (deservedly so, they've practically turned it into an industry), but eastern European countries are also a problem in trucking:

Homeland Security stats show arrests at southern border have hit a 55-year low

September also marked the fifth consecutive month with zero releases by Border Patrol.

The 2025 fiscal year had the lowest number of arrests of illegal immigrants made on the U.S. southern border in 55 years, according to the Department of Homeland Security and Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
"We have had the most secure border in American history, and our end-of-year numbers prove it," Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said in an Oct. 7 statement.

"We have shattered multiple records this year, and once again we have broken a new record."
The United States' 2025 fiscal year ran from Oct. 1, 2024, through Sept. 30, 2025. During that time, authorities made 237,565 arrests along the southern border with Mexico. That total represented an 84 percent drop from the previous year — which had more than 1.5 million illegal immigrants apprehensions — and the lowest number recorded since 1970, which had 201,780 arrests.

Best of the Web: The Left's political playbook (bonus track): Redefining words and standards

censorship illustration
© Eric Drucker
The left twists language to stifle dissent — redefining "tolerance" into intolerance and branding free speech as hate speech to advance its agenda.

Last week, I wrote about the left's playbook of projection and deflection, wherein they ascribe their own sins unto their victims. This week, let us examine how the left tries to advance its radical agenda by redefining words and standards. Today's case study: free speech.

While the First Amendment of the United States Constitution recognizes and protects the God-given right to free speech, there has always been a reasonable, popular consensus that there exists material not suitable for young, impressionable children and that, alternatively, for adult consumption, cannot be banned. The left is endeavoring to rend this consensus.

Presently, the left equates the removal of age-inappropriate materials that sexualize children from public schools as "censorship." As readers of last week's article will recognize, such is a deflection and a projection from the fact the left has for years been banning, eliminating, and re-editing all manner of media, usually by "dead white European males" (though certainly not exclusively), from curricula for being contrary to the dictates of their "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion" (DEI) secular religion.

The progressive flight from reality

Pritzker

Progressivism isn't just an ideology; it's also becoming a mental health condition.

Spiraling past the tendentious spin and lies that have long shaped American discourse on both sides of the aisle, the loudest voices on the left are losing the capacity to grasp reality. As a character in a recent Wall Street Journal cartoon put it: "You've got it all wrong. What I'm saying isn't misinformation. It's denial."

Take Illinois Governor JB Pritzker's recent denunciation of "White House senior aides" for "sowing fear, intimidation and division" by, among other things, calling Democrats "fascists." Given not just his party's but his own frequent use of such rhetoric - comparing ICE agents to Nazis who disappear immigrants and vowing that Republicans "cannot know a moment of peace" - the jaw-dropping irony of his complaint was lost on no one, except, apparently, Pritzker and his allies. It raises the question: How did he think he could get away with this?

He is not alone. In recent weeks, progressives have been assailing President Trump's very real attacks on free speech, without wrestling with the fact that they have long been the driving force behind cancel culture, hate speech codes, and broad-based censorship efforts.

They have been attacking Trump for weaponizing the justice system against his political enemies without coming to grips with the fact that they did exactly that during the Biden administration.
