Texas to deploy 1,000 National Guard troops to 'greet' the children who cross the U.S. - Mexico border

Texas Gov. Rick Perry activated 1,000 National Guard troops and will deploy them to the Rio Grande Valley. There they will join the state's Department of Public Safety in an effort to combat human smuggling across the country's southern border.

"I will not stand idly by while our citizens are under assault, and little children from Central America are detained in squalor. We are too good a country for that to occur," Perry said during his announcement of Operation Strong Safety.

"The National Guard troops that I am deploying will support the state-led border surge by acting as a force multiplier on the ground and providing additional air assets beyond their current efforts," the Texas governor said. "These additional resources will help combat the brutal Mexican drug cartels that are preying upon our communities, and also will help deter others before they have a chance to harm our citizens and become criminal aliens within our borders."

Comment: That's Texan hospitality for you: deploy militia to greet the children who cross the border hoping for better life conditions on the U.S. side. Mayor Perry referring to these children states he needs to deter them "before they have a chance to harm our citizens and become criminal aliens within our borders." What a load of racist paramoralisms!

The more I've thought about potential solutions to the gigantic mess we have found ourselves in as a species, the more I have come to believe we need to break apart into a vast multitude of city-states. The revolutionary concept of America in the first place was this idea of "self-governance," something we do not posses an iota of in this day and age. As was noted recently in an academic paper published by Princeton and Northwestern, these United States have mutated into nothing short of an oligarchy. In fact, the study demonstrated that the will of the people has essentially zero impact on legislation whatsoever.

Dozens of civilians were killed and more than a hundred others injured last week in a massive shelling of Luhansk, a city in eastern Ukraine, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) said Monday.

The OSCE said citing the local emergency services that the shelling occurred on July 18-19.

Members of the Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) in Ukraine went to downtown Luhansk, where they observed a large crater beside a bus stop.

"Shattered windows and shrapnel fragments in the walls of two nearby six-storey buildings were seen, and blood and body parts along the pavement and road," the OSCE said.

The monitors also saw "five houses reduced to rubble on the outskirts of the city" and "the remains of a rocket of an indeterminable type at the scene."

Comment: The similarity with Israel is astounding: the declaration of all inhabitants of an area to be terrorists, to the brutal bombing of civilians with mass casualties followed by a denial of any wrongdoing. See the similarity?

This pattern reveals the hand of who has been aiding the fascists all along.

This summer has seen a rash of stories of parents being hauled away in cuffs for such sins as letting their kids roam unaccompanied in a park, or keeping them in the car while performing a short errand, or even leaving them alone in their own home for a few hours.

My own childhood seems to have become illegal. I was the son of a single mother. During summers I would explore my neighborhood, visit friends' houses, walk to a pond to fish, ride my bike from our home in Bloomfield, N.J., to the abandoned lots of Newark, and jump it over curbs. I could be unsupervised from 10 in the morning until 8:30 at night, when the streetlights started coming on. If I was home with my grandmother, sometimes she would leave me alone to do grocery shopping.

As early as 7 years old, I was allowed to walk more than a mile to school. I traveled long commercial streets like Bloomfield Avenue, and went under the overpass of the Garden State Parkway, all during a time when violent crime rates were much much higher than they are today. The worst that ever happened to me was that I got punched in the head by a junkie. But I told my D.A.R.E. officer, spent an afternoon looking at photos of local junkies and ne'er-do-wells, and got over it, having learned the valuable lesson that I could take a punch in the head.

Comment: The decline in neighborliness may be one aspect. A bigger aspect is the emergence of the police state in the US.

Rochelle Ritchie has more on the new law and whether residents think it will work. The mayor is hoping this new law will not only keep kids safe but also expose those families who are in need of critical parental guidance.

Mob scenes like one in Fells Point may be avoided as Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake pushes for more control of the city's youth, with stricter curfews set to take effect next month.

Virginia father leaves twin baby girls in hot car, police find him having sex 30 feet away

A Virginia man was charged with felony child endangerment and indecent exposure on Friday after police found his 1-year-old twin daughters inside his hot vehicle while he was having sex behind a friend's duplex.

Prince George police told WTVR that neighbors called on Friday to report hearing the sounds of children crying. Officers responding to the scene found the two 1-year-old babies inside 47-year-old Juan Munford's hot car, while he was having sex with a woman about 30 feet away.

"We went around to the back of the duplex and discovered a male and a female engaging in sexual intercourse," Prince George Police spokesperson Capt. Brian Kei explained. "At that point [officers] made contact with the individual who identified himself as the father of the two twins."

The neighbor who called police insisted to WTVR that he made the right decision because so many children had recently died from being left in hot cars. But the neighbor said that he did not feel safe interrupting the father's tryst.

A North Carolina woman, unable to find housing thorough the Durham Department of Social Services, had her five children taken away from her by the DSS after she posted an ad on Craigslist looking for a home for herself and her family.

Frustrated with the DSS's inability to help her find a place to live, and finding area shelters full, Moshimalee Johnson, 32, turned to Craigslist, seeking a temporary home while she looked for a new job, according to the News-Observer.

"Five kids in need of temporary home (durham nc)," Johnson, 32, wrote on July 9 in the apartments wanted section of Craigslist.

"I am currently homeless and looking for someone to take my five kids until I can find a job and a place to live," Johnson's ad said. "I called DSS and they won't take them. The shelter has a waiting list and Urban Ministries won't let you work if you come there. I am a certified nursing assistant but can't find work due to numerous doctor's appointments because my 6-year-old accidentally hung himself. Please help anyone."

Johnson later explained, "Maybe I didn't make myself clear. I didn't want to give the kids up. I wanted a place for me and my kids."

Comment: It is a SHAME the psychopathic government in the U.S. has billions of dollars for wars, but nothing for its impoverished citizens. So many things could be done with the money that actually help people.

Twitter is quick, but too quick sometimes - recently it burst with photos of an evil Ukrainian militiaman who took a teddy bear from the victim of Malaysia plane crash as a trophy. But the full video shows he was just paying the tribute to the dead.

A photo signed "pro-Russian fighter holds up a toy found among the debris at the crash site of MH17" has been used by such major media outlets as the BBC and NBC. Some outlets went as far as to say that 'pro-Russian fighters' were collecting the belongings of passengers of the doomed Malaysia Airlines MH17 flight.

The last night was extreme. The "ground invasion" of Gaza resulted in scores and carloads with maimed, torn apart, bleeding, shivering, dying - all sorts of injured Palestinians, all ages, all civilians, all innocent.

The heroes in the ambulances and in all of Gaza's hospitals are working 12-24 hour shifts, grey from fatigue and inhuman workloads (without payment all in Shifa for the last 4 months), they care, triage, try to understand the incomprehensible chaos of bodies, sizes, limbs, walking, not walking, breathing, not breathing, bleeding, not bleeding humans. HUMANS!

Now, once more treated like animals by "the most moral army in the world" (sic!).

My respect for the wounded is endless, in their contained determination in the midst of pain, agony and shock; my admiration for the staff and volunteers is endless, my closeness to the Palestinian "sumud" gives me strength, although in glimpses I just want to scream, hold someone tight, cry, smell the skin and hair of the warm child, covered in blood, protect ourselves in an endless embrace - but we cannot afford that, nor can they.

A demonstration in Paris in support of Palestinians has resulted in several injuries and at least 38 arrests as activists clashed with riot police who used tear gas to disperse an unsanctioned rally that gathered despite a government ban on such rallies.

Demonstration in Paris against the Israeli military operation in Gaza strip, which recently escalated into a ground invasion, took place despite Friday's municipal government ban. Operation Edge in the twelfth day of the Israeli offensive on Gaza has so far claimed the lives of 342 Palestinians, with at least 46 people killed on Saturday alone.
