Fresh protests erupt following mistrial ruling in case of Cincinnati cop who killed black man during traffic stop

cop Roy Tensing murders Sam Dubose
Protests erupted outside the courthouse after 12 jurors failed to produce a unanimous verdict in the case of University of Cincinnati police officer Roy Tensing, who shot a black man in July 2015. The judge was forced to declare a mistrial.

Tensing was charged with murder for the killing of Sam DuBose during a precautionary traffic stop, which could have resulted in a life sentence. He could also have been imprisoned for up to11 years for voluntary manslaughter.

"What we do know is that the jury were leaning towards acquittal on the murder. They were leaning toward conviction on the voluntary manslaughter, but they just couldn't come to an agreement," Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters said to Cincinnati station Fox 19, stating that four jurors out of 12 said Tensing was guilty of murder, and eight of manslaughter.

Sore losers: Obamas cancel traditional first couples photo with the Trumps

Obama and Trump
The Obamas may have been cordial hosts to the Trumps at the White House on Thursday, but they skipped one long-standing tradition for current and future first couples.

There is a customary photo op of the couples outside the south entrance of the White House, which the president and his wife appeared to have canceled, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The decision not to participate in this tradition illustrates how bitter the campaign was, particularly for Mrs. Obama, who delivered some of the most emotional arguments against electing Mr. Trump.
After the 2008 election, President Barack Obama and the first lady stood for photos with President George W. Bush and first lady Laura Bush at the White House.

Comment: Moving forward: Trump is already working to erase Obama's legacy from history

From vicious to absurd: The liberal mental and emotional meltdown over Trump's victory

Stop the insanity!

Days after Donald Trump stunned the world by winning the presidency, liberal America remains in the throes of a massive mental and emotional meltdown.

Anti-Trump protests have spread to more cities and continue to turn violent. In Portland Thursday night, rioters stoned police and vandalized businesses and cars.

Anyone expressing support for Trump has become the target of unrestrained venom: There are calls to boycott New Balance — its sneakers have been publicly burned — because an official said Trump would be better on trade issues.

Trump won because the press, Clinton and her supporters refused to live in reality

Precious snowflakes

The Washington establishment and its fans and defenders got their comeuppance this week, and they're finding it very difficult to get their heads around it.

Before we go any further, I should clarify that I'm no fan of Donald Trump, and like most people, I believed Clinton would win, so this isn't an opportunity to say 'I told you so.'

Nevertheless, it was always clear that Clinton's campaign strategy had some serious flaws. Most of us thought this would simply make it a tight race, but that Clinton would undoubtedly pull through. Now, however, the events of the aftermath - on top of the obvious mistakes already made - make the reasons Trump pulled off the shock victory clearer than ever.

It's not me, it's you

Liberals for Clinton spent this election doing three things that were entirely counter-productive and which now they should regret.

First, they ran a campaign which based itself less on issues and more on the fact that Trump doesn't appear to be a very nice person. Now, while this may be true and even seemed like a logical strategy at times (during p*ssy-grabbing-gate, for example), ultimately it's not how you win over or inspire people.

University of Pennsylvania students were left horrified after being added to a group called "N*gger lynching" on mobile messaging app GroupMe.

Officials from the university later said the account was started by students in Oklahoma.

Calvary Rogers, who is a research assistant at the University of Pennsylvania said "every single black freshmen" were added to the group.

"I stared an administrator in the eye and literally lost it," Rogers wrote in a Facebook post. "And quite honestly I just can't stop crying. I feel sick to my stomach. I don't feel safe."

Screenshots captured by BillyPenn.com showed shocking messages from students where people were referred to as "coons" and "stupid n*igger." Another message said, "Never be a n*gger in SAE," in reference to the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

Flashback NYC, 1991: Donald Trump thwarts baseball bat-wielding mugger

trump mugger story
Donald Trump apparently stopped a mugging in 1991, according to an old New York Daily News article at the time.

The original article, "Mugger's Trumped: Donald stops attack," written by Daily News staff writer James Rosen, is still on Philly.com, but with the title, "Trump Strikes Out Would-be Mugger."

"I'm not looking to play this thing up," Trump said in the Nov. 20, 1991, report. "I'm surprised you found out about it."

In the incident, Trump ordered his driver to pull over after he saw "a big guy with a big bat" bashing another person.

An old copy of the article went viral on Reddit's The Donald Subreddit on Wednesday.

Comment: Does this make Trump a saint? No, but its a stark contrast to cackling at the vicious murder of Qaddafi like someone we know. Now, if only Trump's policies would reflect standing up for the downtrodden...

Trump, the progressive? Prez-elect proposed a very liberal student loan repayment plan

Trump
© Mike Segar / Reuters
Donald Trump is promising the most liberal student loan repayment plan since the inception of the federal financial aid program, in a clear effort to court the millions of Americans struggling with the high cost of college.

"We would cap repayment for an affordable portion of the borrower's income, 12.5 percent, we'd cap it. That gives you a lot to play with and a lot to do," Trump said at a rally in Columbus, Ohio, on Thursday. "And if borrowers work hard and make their full payments for 15 years, we'll let them get on with their lives. They just go ahead and they get on with their lives."

The terms proposed by the Republican nominee are more generous than all of the existing government programs that let borrowers cap their monthly student loan payments to a percentage of their earnings. Even the latest income-driven plan, known as Revised Pay as You Earn (REPAYE), forgives remaining debt after 20 years of payment, though it caps borrowers' monthly bills to 10 percent of their income.

"Students should not be asked to pay more on the debt than they can afford," Trump said. "And the debt should not be an albatross around their necks for the rest of their lives."

Comment: Will Trump actually enact these changes or is it just talk? We'll see.

Russell Brand on the inevitability of a Trump presidency

russell brand trump
Comedian, actor, and activist Russell Brand explains why a Donald Trump presidency was inevitable.

After taking a break from discussing politics on his show True News, Russell Brand returned just in time to comment on the fact that Donald Trump won the 2016 U.S. Presidential election. Rather than bash the President-elect and some of the hateful statements he's made in the past, Brand listed reasons why why many likely voted for the business tycoon.

It comes down to this: people are demanding change - and while they definitely would have received it with Democratic Socialist Bernie Sanders, he was screwed out of a nomination by the Democratic National Committee (DNC). In result, the best option for people who are disillusioned by the system had was to elect Donald Trump, who is anything but conventional. Trump, unlike Hillary Clinton, is not owned by corporate establishments and cannot be bought. In addition, a continued regime of the Obama Administration with Hillary Clinton would have undoubtedly led to more war in the Middle East.

In the video below, Brand explains why a Trump presidency was inevitable, and what this means going forward:
