Top state election official points out US media dilute facts with false 'Russian hacking' stories

The American media dilutes the facts and fan conspiracy theories by spreading allegations of Russian meddling in the US presidential election, a senior state election official has said, adding the voting system is near-impossible to manipulate externally.
The media frenzy surrounding alleged "Russian meddling" in the 2016 US election suggests that reporters are often doctoring or neglecting hard facts for the sake of good storylines, Brian Kemp, Georgia's secretary of state, argued in an opinion piece for USA Today.

"As reporters chase stories to feed the 24-hour news cycle, they dilute facts and develop false narratives about Russian hacking and potential vulnerabilities in the system," he said. "The prevailing plot line is that states like Georgia can't provide suitable security for elections."

Cops say crime dropped in Phoenix after dropping sanctuary city status

At the center of national debate, a question remains unanswered: Are sanctuary cities that protect illegal immigrants safer than non-sanctuary cities?

Sanctuary supporters claim they are.
"Police chiefs across the nation believe that enlisting local police to enforce immigration law is a bad idea," California Senate President Pro Tem Kevin De Leon, a Democrat, claimed at a news conference last week. "Having [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] pluck criminals out of jail and send them across the border or wherever they came only to come right back endangers our communities."
But is that true?

A six-year study published last year by the University of California, Riverside found
"violent crime is slightly higher in sanctuary cities." It concluded there was "no statistically discernible difference in violent crime rates, rape, or property crime across" 55 cities studied.
And at least one city, Phoenix, saw a drop in crime after it eliminated its sanctuary city status, according to former law enforcement officials.

Organizers of Sweden's Bråvalla annual music festival have decided to call off the 2018 event after this year's festival was marred by sexual violence. Police say they are looking into over a dozen reports of molestation and at least four cases of rape.

Swedish police have confirmed they are investigating four potential rapes and some 22 counts of molestation reported on the grounds of the three-day musical festival, which concluded July 1 near the southern Swedish town of Norrkoping.

A teenage girl was reportedly sexually assaulted at the festival during a music concert on Friday, police said Saturday. They added that they are also looking into multiple reports of molestation during the performance by local musician Håkan Hellström.

As news of the incident hit the headlines, the company in charge of the festival, FKP Scorpio, issued a statement, denouncing the violence and announcing that the event was being canceled next year.

"Words cannot describe how incredibly sad we are about this, and we most seriously regret and condemn this. This is not f**ing okay. We do not accept this at our festival," the statement reads.

Anti-Semitic banner draped over Holocaust memorial in NJ - $10k reward offered for information

Suspected far-right extremists veiled a Holocaust memorial in Lakewood, New Jersey, with a banner displaying an ethnic slur against Jews. It comes amid ongoing police investigation into massive welfare fraud, implicating a local rabbi.

An image of a white banner reading "Heebs will not divide us" was posted by a local branch of the Anti-Defamation League on Sunday accompanied by a caption: "Brazen anti-Semitic hate on full display."

"Heeb," a pejorative abbreviation of "Hebrew," is considered to be a highly offensive term among the Jewish community.

Authorities have launched an investigation into a suspected hate crime, with New Jersey's Attorney General Christopher Porrino encouraging potential witnesses to help trace suspects by promising a $10,000 information reward.

It might turn out not to be that difficult to find those responsible for the act, as the vandals appear to have written the name of the group, Bloodandsoil.org, in the right-hand corner of the banner. The website under this name belongs to an openly fascist US organization that uses the same Nazi-style symbol as in the poster.

Comment: Whoever this "Blood and Soil" group is, they've almost certainly been infiltrated by informants; every "radical" group is. So was this just another idiotic lowlife, or an idiotic lowlife with an agenda? Something to consider...

Some 181 high-rise buildings in 51 local authorities across England have failed safety tests following the Grenfell Tower fire.

The announcement came from the Department of Communities Sunday, which is overseeing a full review of around 600 high-rise blocks across England.

At least 80 people died after a fire broke out in a residential flat and engulfed the entire building on June 14. It is thought the cladding on Grenfell Tower facilitated the spread of the fatal fire.

The staggering number of buildings to fail the test represents a rise from the 149 confirmed Friday and 60 last Monday. It's feared the real number of unsafe residential buildings could be far higher when private blocks are considered.

Aside from residential properties, 36 hospitals and more than 17,000 care homes, hospices and private hospitals have been advised to carry out safety checks, along with a number of universities which have cladding on their student housing.

A man with nationalist views has been preliminary charged with terrorism-related offenses for allegedly planning to attack French President Emmanuel Macron on Bastille Day, the Paris prosecutor's office said.

The plans of the 23-year-old suspect were vague and he appeared to be acting alone, a spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office, Agnes Thibault-Lecuivre, said on Monday, as cited by AP.

On Saturday, the man was preliminary charged with being involved in individual terrorist activity, Thibault-Lecuivre said, adding that the suspect might have also been planning to attack minorities.

The report about the possible threat to the French President was first released on RMC radio, a sister branch of BFMTV channel.

New Syrian banknotes featuring portrait of Assad printed in Russia

New Syrian bank note
On Sunday, Durgham announced the introduction of the 2,000-pound ($3.9) note featuring Assad, the first notes to depict the president since his inauguration 17 years ago.
"The 2,000-lira [another name for the Syrian pound] note was printed in Russia, just like other banknotes in several recent years, and has protective advantages limiting the possibility of currency counterfeiting," Durgham said.

Western civilization will collapse if Trump smiles and hugs Putin at G20 Summit

Experts agree: Even the slightest hint of goodwill between Trump and Putin at the upcoming G20 summit in Germany could collapse the US economy and destroy NATO.

As Trump prepares to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the upcoming G20 summit in Hamburg, Americans ("preppers" excluded, since they are already amply prepared) are frantically stocking up on canned beans and shotgun slugs.

There is absolutely no doubt in anyone's mind that the pillars of western civilization (NATO, CNN) will self-destruct if Trump so much as half-smiles at Putin during their scheduled encounter in Germany.

Hero cop adopts boy he rescued from years of abuse to protect him for life

Month after month and day after day, the Free Thought Project reports on stories of unspeakable crimes committed by those sworn to 'protect' society. Unfortunately, there is never a shortage of taxpayer funded corruption. So, when the chance presents itself for TFTP to shine a light on a public servant for their heroism and selfless public service, we jump at the opportunity in order to provide an example for other officers. Officer Jody Thompson is one such example.

Thompson's story begins when he was off-duty two years ago and overheard a call about a horrific case of child abuse. Because of his background at the district attorney's office in child abuse, Thompson thought he should respond, even though he wasn't working. What he found when he arrived at the call was nothing short of heartbreaking.

"I've investigated child abuse cases before," Thompson told CBS News. "I thought I'd better go ahead and respond."
