At least two people have been seriously injured in a shooting in the Champs-Elysees area, in heart of the French capital, AFP and Le Parisien report.

The incident took place on Sunday morning and police have arrived at the scene. The two victims were transported "in serious condition after being injured by firearms," โ€‹โ€‹ a spokesman for the Paris Fire Brigade said.

"They got shot," some of the eyewitnesses were heard saying. The injured - apparently unconscious and covered in blood - were initially found inside a "bullet-riddled" car, reports say.

Kavanaugh hearings: The really important debate was never held

kavanaugh hearing swear in crowd

The utter failure of democratic politics

The Democrats and their feminist allies failed the country in their approach to the Kavanaugh hearing. Instead of finding out whether Kavanaugh believes in the unitary executive theory that the president has powers unaccountable to Congress and the Judiciary and agrees that a Justice Department underling, a Korean immigrant, can write secret memos that permit the president to violate the US Constitution, US statutory law, and international treaties, the Democrats' entire focus was on a vague and unsubstantiated accusation that Kavanaugh when 17 years old and under the influence of alcohol tussled fully clothed with a fully clothed 15 year old girl in a bed at an unchaperoned house party.

Feminists turned this vague accusation missing in crucial details into "rape," with a crazed feminist Georgetown University professor declaring Kavanaugh to be "a serial rapist" who along with the Senate Judiciary Committee's male members should be given agonizing deaths and then castrated and fed to swine.

Ford's 'FBI friend' Monica McLean hires deep state NeverTrump lawyer

monica mclean kavanaugh hearing
Where are all of these fake accusers and witnesses getting the money to hire so many high powered and expensive lawyers? Someone has put big money behind these false accusations, and we need to know who it is. The latest major hire is the new lawyer for Monica McLean. His name is David Laufman. You may not know his name, but you know his work. He worked on the Hillary investigation. He was instrumental in bringing Gen Michael Flynn down, and he was working on the Russian collusion investigation, quitting when investigators started getting close to the DOJ corruption.

The Wall Street Journal reported:
On Thursday, a day after sending to the White House the report on its investigation into the allegations against Judge Kavanaugh, the FBI sent the White House and Senate an additional package of information that included text messages from Ms. McLean to Ms. Keyser, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Ms. McLean's lawyer, David Laufman, said in a statement: "Any notion or claim that Ms. McLean pressured Leland Keyser to alter Ms. Keyser's account of what she recalled concerning the alleged incident between Dr. Ford and Brett Kavanaugh is absolutely false."

Comment: David Laufman has been very busy the last couple of years, from letting Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills walk, to interviewing Hillary and helping her walk.

'Non-dairy' sandwich caused death of second Pret A Manger customer, chain says

A second person died as a result of an allergic reaction to one of the ingredients in a Pret A Manger food product, the global sandwich chain has confirmed.

Last week's high profile inquest into the death of teenager Natasha Ednan-Laperouse, who died of anaphylaxis after eating a Pret A Manger sandwich on a flight to Nice, has put the global brand's operations under the microscope. The allergen which caused Ednan-Laperouse's death was not listed on the Pret A Manger sandwich at the time, reported the Evening Standard.

Now the company has confirmed that, following Ednan-Laperouse's death on board a British Airways flight in 2016, a second person passed away last year after eating a flatbread that was supposed to be non-dairy.

Those times when 'believing the victim' can backfire

blind justice
A few years ago the University of Montana, where I was teaching, found itself at the epicenter of a national crisis of campus rape. Even as the U. S. Department of Education directed colleges and universities to lower the level of evidence necessary for conviction in sexual assault cases, the Department of Justice censured the lax investigation and prosecution of such cases at UM in particular, in effect making UM an example to the nation. But not only was UM under the eyes of federal monitors. DOJ made it known that it would also be looking closely into the handling of allegations of rape in the city of Missoula, of which UM is part.

In this charged atmosphere, and with the national press looking on as well, two members of the UM football team-one of them none other than the quarterback and team captain-were charged with sexual intercourse without consent. The respective incidents took place two years apart. In the first case, where the crime was reported to the police fifteen months after it occurred, the facts were not in dispute: a woman was raped while asleep. The perpetrator pleaded guilty and in 2013 was sentenced to thirty years in prison, with twenty suspended. Here I address the second case, in which a woman claimed that quarterback Jordan Johnson raped her after she refused to engage in intercourse after mutual petting, while he maintained that she never refused and he would have stopped if she had. Johnson was acquitted by a jury, also in 2013.

Linda Tripp: Ford's choice to speak up was NOT an act of conscience comparable to her decision to expose Clinton-Lewinsky affair

Christine Blasey Ford has set the MeToo movement back a decade by 'weaponizing' unsubstantiated allegations of sexual assault against Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, in a 'well orchestrated' and politically motivated attempt to destroy him.

These are the charges today leveled against Ford, 53, by Linda Tripp, the woman who exposed Bill Clinton's affair with Monica Lewinsky.

Tripp secretly recorded the then 22-year-old Lewinsky admitting to her intimacy with the president 17 years her senior. She made the tapes public in January 1998.

But today she does not see Ford's decision to speak up as an act of conscience in any way comparable to her own.

Monkey bus-ness: Driver in India suspended after letting furry friend behind the wheel

Monkey driving bus
Have you ever seen a monkey steering the wheel of a bus? This video of a fury little driver may be amusing, but not so much to the authorities in India, who suspended the actual driver who let the animal 'control' the vehicle.

The incident took place in the southeastern Indian state of Karnataka on Monday. However, the authorities only learned about it after footage of the driver - smiling and patting the monkey as it sat on the steering wheel of the moving bus - went viral.

The driver, identified as M Prakash, "has been taken off duty for allowing the monkey to sit on the steering wheel and handle it," an official from the local transport company confirmed. He said the authorities launched an inquiry since "a driver cannot risk the life of passengers."

The monkey, which belongs to a school teacher, sat next to him at first, but then its curiosity and mischievousness must have taken over. So it went to make friends with the driver and jumped on the steering wheel. The primate reportedly steered the bus for almost 10 minutes, while M Prakash was only working the pedals and gears. Around 30 passengers were on the monkey-driven bus.

The Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia has been spray-painted with at least 19 swastikas. Although the suspect was captured on CCTV, the vandal still remains at large.

The incident occurred early on Saturday in Annandale, when a man - it is being presumed - spray-painted numerous white swastikas over the center. The suspect was well disguised and his identity remains unknown.

Stills from CCTV footage, released by Fairfax County police, show the suspect, sporting a dark blue T-shirt over a gray hoodie walking past the JCC and painting the offensive symbols on the building. The suspect was also seemingly well-prepared for the vandalism act and was equipped with a headlamp.

Liberal rage: Kavanaugh confirmation sparks fresh protests among activists

Anti-Kavanaugh protests
Across the United States protestors fighting against the nomination of judge Brett Kavanaugh to the US Supreme Court saw their hopes dashed and have reacted with anger.

As protesters chanted "vote them out" and "November is coming," while demonstrating on Capitol Hill ahead of the Kavanaugh vote, the 53-year-old conservative judge was confirmed by the US Senate in a vote 50 to 48 in favor of the appointment.

Even while Vice President Mike Pence ran down the details of the final tally, protesters inside of the Senate chamber could be heard shouting "Shame on you!" according to reports.
