Midland scientist predicts increase in objects falling from the sky as Earth nears debris field in space

We hope you enjoyed the Chelyabinsk event, says a UK scientist, cause there's more coming!
A leading Birmingham astronomer has predicted Midland sky watchers will see an increase in spectacular meteors like the one which hurtled into Russia at 17,000mph.
More than 500 people were reportedly injured when the basketball-sized fragment smashed into the Ural mountains, close to the border with Kazakhstan, at about 5.20am yesterday.
The meteor was so bright, as it pierced the skies over Russia, that would have outshone the sun, Great Barr scientist Andrew Lound said.
Its impact created a crater six metres wide, but it was the shockwaves which caused the most devastation, blowing out windows and destroying buildings in cities thousands of kilometres away.
Comment: Forget about funding for advanced warning systems - NASA et al are broke. Look to the past for what is to come!

The above article was written in the aftermath of the Chelyabinsk event in February, so it's unclear if the British astronomer was referring to a debris field Earth was passing through at the time, or if he meant a larger quantity of debris in general. If the latter, then he has apparently called it correctly because meteor fireball sightings continue to increase month after month!
