Russian bombers have destroyed 285 ISIL and Nusra Front targets over the past three days in Syria's provinces of Hama, Idlib, Latakia, Damascus, Aleppo, Deir ez-Zor, the Russian Defense Ministry said Monday.

The Russian Aerospace Forces have conducted 164 sorties in Syria in three days, the Russian Defense Ministry's spokesman added.

Russian Su-25 attack aircraft destroyed 3 ISIL strongholds near Salma in the Syrian province of Latakia, Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said.

Lies about civilian deaths from Russian airstrikes in Syria stem from fraudulent US-based organization

The Russian defense ministry's spokesman dismissed media claims concerning alleged civilian deaths in Russian airstrikes in Syria. He added that US-based Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) was the organization that had claimed about casualties among civilians.
"We will carefully monitor and analyze such media hoaxes. First of all, as for the Syrian American Medical Society, this organization registered in the US state of Illinois has something to do with medicine, as well as doctors, no more than ISIL is tied to the international scout movement," Igor Konashenkov said.
He said that since its foundation in 2012 this organization has been primarily used for publishing "evidence" of alleged implementation of chemical weapons against Syrian opposition.
"However, when all that 'evidence' turned out to be fake, this organization started keeping a low profile. The true purpose of such organizations is to spread lies for designated mass media".

US general praises Russian effectiveness in Syria

A retired highly-decorated US Air Force general says the Russian air campaign in Syria is "very definitely effective" because it has been targeting militant groups fighting the Syrian armed forces.

"Russia means business," retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Thomas McInerney told The Washington Times.

McInerney said Russia is flying more missions over Syria than the US, intimidating the militants. However, he accused Moscow of running an indiscriminate campaign that has "lots of collateral damage."

The former general's comments came as a Washington-based research group has concluded that the Russian airstrikes are primarily hitting US-backed militants fighting the government of President Bashar al-Assad.

The Institute for the Study of War says Russian warplanes and helicopter gunships fly only a smattering of sorties against the Daesh (ISIL) positions.

Comment: Russia has been extremely effective in wiping ISIS from the pages of history, and has been providing much evidence to back up their claims. However, the US claim that there's been "lots of collateral damage", hasn't been backed by a shred of evidence.

Iran plans to join the BRICS Bank, the Iranian Tasnim news agency reported Monday citing an Iranian official.

Iranian Deputy Minister of Economic Development Mohammad Khazaee said at a meeting of a joint Iran-Brazil economic council that Tehran aims to join the BRICS Bank.

"Iran will join #BRICS Bank: Iranian official," Tasnim reported on its Twitter account.

The agreement to establish the BRICS New Development Bank (NDB), with an initial capitalization of $100 billion, was signed by the BRICS member states โ€” Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa โ€” during the group's 6th summit in Fortaleza, Brazil, in July 2014.

The bank was officially launched at the last BRICS summit in the Russian city of Ufa earlier this year.

Spreading democracy: West bullies Azerbaijan over refusal to back anti-Russia sanctions

Azerbaijan

The West is putting pressure on Azerbaijan over its unwillingness to back economic and diplomatic sanctions against Russia, Speaker of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan Ogtay Asadov said Monday.

"The reason of the pressure on us was coming from Azerbaijani non-involvement in sanctions against Russia," Asadov told journalists.

The politician said that Azerbaijan wanted to have political relations independent from Western influence.

"[Azerbaijani] president wants to have an independent policy, many dislike that. That was the essence of the attacks on us," Asadov said.

Comment: The West apparently doesn't want sovereign countries thinking for themselves.

Lebanese security forces are interrogating a Saudi prince on charges of carrying drugs on his private plane after they allegedly retrieved 2 tons of narcotics from the aircraft. Abd al-Muhsen bin Walid bin Abd al-Aziz Al Saud was detained on Monday in Beirut's Rafik Hariri International Airport.

The prince was about to conduct a flight on his private plane to Saudi Arabia. Lebanese TV station Al Mayadeen reported that 40 packages of drugs, weighing 2 tons in total, were confiscated. The prince was arrested and taken in for questioning along with four other people. According to Press TV they were charged with attempting to smuggle pills of captagon, an amphetamine allegedly widely used among fighters in the Middle East.

Comment: The Saudis lobbied hard for the US to expand its operations in Syria, get rid of Assad and bomb the place to hell, making the region unlivable. Guess who would have received the Saudi Prince's combat drugs?

The Trident trap: Replacing UK's nuclear subs 'to cost ยฃ167 billion, exceeding all expectations'

The overall cost of replacing and maintaining Britain's nuclear submarine fleet will reach 167 billion pounds ($256 billion), far exceeding initial expectations, Cameron's Conservative party lawmakers told Reuters.

The final decision on replacing the UK's four aging nuclear subs is due to be made in 2016, with Prime Minister David Cameron being a strong backer of continuing the country's at-sea nuclear deterrent.

The British government had said earlier that the purchase of new Vanguard-class vessels, which are capable of carrying Trident missiles, would require around 15-20 billion pounds, without specifying estimated maintenance costs.

However, Minister of State for Defense Procurement Philip Dunne said on Friday that the price tag for the state-of-the-art submarines will come in at around 25 billion pounds.

The new figures were revealed in Dunne's written parliamentary response to fellow Conservative party lawmaker Crispin Blunt's request.

According to the response, the in-service costs would amount to about 6 percent of the annual defense budget, which now stands at around 34 billion pounds, over the vessels' lifetime.

Comment: Earlier this year thousands marched in London opposing the replacement of the Trident nuclear defense system stressing 'welfare not warfare'.

With the budgets of three million working class families about to be plundered by an average of ยฃ1,300 per year under the 'austerity axe' of Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne; this decision indicates where the real priorities of the so-called 'compassionate' Conservatives really lay.

Despite the pro-austerity rhetoric from Westminster, we are not "all in this together". In Britain today, the richest are 105 times better off than the poorest in society. It is the "European capital of inequality", worse even than the United States! Studies show that these obscene, unnecessarily harsh austerity measures are having devastating repercussions among those most vulnerable, as people go hungry, forcing dependency on food banks.

In May this year, Prime Minister David Cameron told MP's that he 'will not waste a single moment with getting on with the task' of reshaping Britain, and of 'building something special'. We are beginning to see just what sort of psychopathic, elitist reality he is intent on building!

Thirty-six cases of vote buying have been registered. More than 340 incidents of electoral violations were reported to Ukraine's Interior Ministry on Sunday, Ukrainian officials said, as the country voted in local elections.

"As of 1 p.m. (local time), 342 notifications of incidents related to the election process have been received. Thirty-six cases of vote buying have been registered," the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry added that many of the breaches were in Kiev and the western Zakarpattia region. Voting started at 8 a.m. local time across the country to elect 10,000 mayors and 160,000 members of regional and local councils. According to local media, the turnout is expected to be around 69 percent. The final results are expected no earlier than Oct. 28.

Comment: No surprise! A rotten core leadership spoils the whole of its society. The US-backed coup isn't bringing good results.

Putin exposed West's intentions and 'became most popular world leader'

The Russian President knows perfectly how 'to play the diplomatic card' and 'never make mistakes,' according to an expert of Press TV. Vladimir Putin intelligently exposed the lie of the West regarding Iran's nuclear program and the false conflict against ISIL.

Jim Dean, editor of Veterans Today, said that now everyone will unite around the Russian leader, as his popularity ratings in the country have reached a new record. Perhaps now, Putin will be the most popular world leader of the past 50 years.

"We have just gone through the Iranian nuclear talks after more than ten years of lies about a secret nuclear program of Iran, which has been exposed but the media is not talking so much about it. This is one of the great results of the negotiations. After all, neither the US nor Israel was able to provide evidence which, according to them, proved that Iran has a nuclear program," Dean told Press TV.

The expert further said that, "Every taxi driver on the planet, even in some rundown town of some Third World country is now aware of the Western game of these fake terrorist movements that are needed to create a threat. Then allegedly for security reasons the US organizes coups in order to bring to power a friendly government."

But now those plans have been exposed because when Putin talked about his goals in Syria, he offered to cooperate with the West, he said that anyone who wants to join in the efforts is welcome to fight ISIL together. The expert noted that everyone denied cooperating with Putin except for the agreements to coordinate air operations.

Business magnate and F1 chief Bernie Ecclestone in an interview devoted to his 85th anniversary praised Vladimir Putin and explained why a portrait of the Russian leader hangs on the wall of his office.

Bernie Ecclestone has revealed his admiration for the leadership qualities of Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview to a Formula 1 outlet devoted to the magnate's jubilee.

During the conversation an interviewer referred to portraits of various famous personalities hanging on the walls of the F1m's chief office, including a portrait of Vladimir Putin, and asked about the people who impress him the most.

Answering the question, Ecclestone named Mr. Ferrari and Colin Chapman among others.

At the same time he claimed that there are no leaders in Europe comparable to Vladimir Putin regarding his leadership qualities, and he suggested that the Russian president should rule the entire continent to fulfill his potential.

"Mr. Putin is wasting his time in Russia. He should run Europe โ€” completely. Because nobody else is!" Ecclestone.

Earlier this year, Vladimir Putin reached an agreement with Ecclestone to hold the Russian Grand Prix in Sochi in the near future. The F1 chief claimed that as long as he's alive, the Grand Prix will be held in Sochi.
