Presidential debate moderators will not be allowed to wear ear mics, but the same rule won't apply to the candidates

The presidential debate moderators will not be allowed to wear earpieces, according to published reports.

But what about the presidential candidates themselves?

A voter in Maryland wrote Federal Elections Commissioner Matthew Petersen on Sept. 8 seeking a "clear response" to that question.

"I read reports that during the televised event questioning each of the candidates on their qualifications to serve as Commander in Chief, that Secretary Clinton had a microphone in her ear to receive prompting and guidance from advisers off stage," wrote Laurence B of Columbia, MD.

[A check of his name and address at the Maryland State Board of Elections Internet site verified the writer's identity as a registered voter.]

"Surely this is a more serious violation of competition than the doping which the Olympics have had to clean up. ... Can you please confirm that your commission will take conclusive steps to ensure that no such cheating takes place during the debates?" the letter concluded.

When he received no response to his letter, he wrote again on Sept. 21: "I've got to say I'm really discouraged not to have received a confirmation from you or from your office that your policy will be to disallow the two candidates to wear ear microphones. Am I to interpret your lack of a response to mean that such behavior will, indeed be accepted?"

That correspondence got an immediate and lengthy response in "legalese" from an attorney with the FEC:

Comment: The same rules never apply to the speshul people with money, clout, and psychopathic personalities.

'Profits over human rights': UK slammed for blocking Yemen independent investigation

The UK has been accused of blocking efforts to establish an independent investigation into alleged Saudi Arabian breaches of international law in Yemen, with critics telling Sputnik that London is putting "arms company profits ahead of human rights."

A number of human rights groups have taken aim at Theresa May's government after a Dutch proposal for the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) to set up an international investigation into the conflict in Yemen was replaced by a watered-down replacement. The UK refused to support the Netherlands' proposal for an independent investigation into alleged crimes in Yemen, with the plans replaced by a UN high commissioner for human rights (OHCHR) mission, which was far below what human rights groups were calling for.

Al-Nusra Commander: The US directly gives us missiles

An unnamed senior al-Nusra Front commander told journalist Jürgen Todenhöfer that the group, considered to be terrorist by the United States, Russia, as well as the United Nations, has received weapons, particularly the BGM-71 TOW anti-tank missiles, from the US, German weekly news magazine Focus reported.

"The missiles were handed over directly to us. Americans are on our side," the media outlet quoted the militant commander as saying. The remarks came in response to Jürgen Todenhöfer's question whether any intermediaries, including the US-backed Free Syrian Army, were involved in the weapons transfers.

Al-Nusra Front has been one of the Damascus' fiercest opponents. The terrorist group has been fighting to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad and establish a caliphate in Syria. The commander confirmed this.

"We will fight until the regime is toppled," he said, referring to Assad's government. Al-Nusra Front wants "to establish an Islamic state that will be ruled according to the Sharia law. We do not recognize any secular state."

Al-Nusra Front was founded as al-Qaeda's offshoot in Syria, but has recently cut ties with the global terrorist network, changing its name to Jabhat Fateh al-Sham (the Front for the Conquest of the Levant). Experts have said that the rebranding has not affected the group's goals or the means of achieving them.

The FBI investigation of Killary and EmailGate was a sham

James Comey
© www.politico.comFBI Director James Comey
NSA Analyst: We now have incontrovertible proof the Bureau never had any intention of prosecuting Hillary Clinton

From the moment the EmailGate scandal went public more than a year ago, it was obvious that the Federal Bureau of Investigation never had much enthusiasm for prosecuting Hillary Clinton or her friends. Under President Obama, the FBI grew so politicized that it became impossible for the Bureau to do its job - at least where high-ranking Democrats are concerned.

As I observed in early July, when Director James Comey announced that the FBI would not be seeking prosecution of anyone on Team Clinton over EmailGate, the Bureau had turned its back on its own traditions of floating above partisan politics in the pursuit of justice. "Malfeasance by the FBI, its bending to political winds, is a matter that should concern all Americans, regardless of their politics," I stated, noting that it's never a healthy turn of events in a democracy when your secret police force gets tarnished by politics.

Just how much Comey and his Bureau punted on EmailGate has become painfully obvious since then. Redacted FBI documents from that investigation, dumped on the Friday afternoon before the long Labor Day weekend, revealed that Hillary Clinton either willfully lied to the Bureau, repeatedly, about her email habits as secretary of state, or she is far too dumb to be our commander-in-chief.

In a pitched battle, the Syrian army, assisted by al-Quds militia brigades recaptured a Palestinian refugee camp on Saturday in the north-eastern suburbs of Aleppo. However, by Sunday morning the territory had fallen back under control of the rebels.

RIA Novosti correspondent Mikhail Alaeddin visited the Handarat camp almost immediately after its liberation and interviewed several of the fighters who had helped capture it.

The refugee camp is an important strategic position on the south-west side of Aleppo. It has been a target for both the Syrian Army and rebel forces. On Sunday, the Syrian Army deployed with the intention to retake the city with the help with Palestinian al-Quds fighters. The camp has been under the control of armed groups supported by the United States and Turkey, as well as the terrorists of al-Nusra Front, for more than two years.

Blair versus Corbyn: Labour leaders past and present clash over Iraq war crimes claims

Iraq War-era Prime Minister Tony Blair has said he is sorry that UK troops are facing war crimes allegations, while Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has said banning prosecutions outright would be "a step too far."

The topic of legal investigations into allegations of abuse and potential war crimes by UK troops during Britain's wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have become a hotly debated topic in recent weeks, with political, legal and military figures quarreling over the issue.

Controversial former PM Blair told the Guardian on Sunday that he did not "think this process should ever have been put in place.

"I am very sorry that our soldiers and their families have been put through this ordeal," he said.

"Our armed forces gave extraordinary service in both Iraq and Afghanistan and this type of investigation simply makes their job harder to do."

Comment: How about a greater push against the politicians who support wars to be held accountable!

Deir ez-Zor airstrikes no 'mistake', locals say: US drones scouted area, coordinated bombings with ISIS units

Deir ez-Zor airport Syria
Deir ez-Zor airport, southeastern Syria
On September 17, the US-led coalition carried out a number of airstrikes against the Syrian army next to the city of Deir ez-Zor. Despite the White House's statements that the strikes had been made by mistake, more and more facts are emerging that indicate Washington's actions were intentional.

Locals told Inside Syria Media Center how the US prepared and carried out the operation in Deir ez-Zor. According to witnesses, just a couple of days before the bombing a drone appeared to observe the Syrian army positions and the maneuvers of ISIS the US allegedly intended to strike at.

Having analyzed the events, we can divide the American operation into three stages which envisaged deliberate bombings at the Syrian positions.

During the first strike lasting about an hour the first line of defense was attacked. The second stage saw defensive structures and heavy weaponry (three tanks, two IFVs, several guns and mortars) destroyed. Amid that, the US drones were killing wounded Syrian soldiers trying to flee the airstrike area.

Lurching toward world war: U.S. and Turkey's full-on invasion of Syria

obama and erdogen
Following US President Barack Obama's dubious stellar performance this week at the UN General Assembly recounting a litany of lies for almost one hour before the eyes of the world, it was the turn of Turkey's leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan to insult humanity's intelligence.

Like his American ally, who inverted reality by claiming that US war crimes against numerous nations were a virtuous legacy, Erdogan performed a similar spellbinding conjuring trick. In his address to the UN, the Turkish president said his military has rendered peace to the Middle East region by invading Syria last month.

Can you imagine Adolf Hitler declaring to the then League of Nations that Germany had just invaded Poland to restore peace to Europe? It is astounding, when you think about it, how the august international forum in New York City indulged Erdogan and Obama with such polite attention, when they are both responsible for the supreme war crime of aggression against the sovereign state of Syria?

Turkish and American troops are occupying a 100-km wide swathe of northern Syria after they both launched Operation Euphrates Shield on August 24, with tanks and warplanes in support of ground forces.

Syria and Russia have both expressed concern over the incursion, with Damascus denouncing it as a violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity. American warplanes have been violating Syrian sovereignty for nearly two years. Just because Turkey and the US claim that the latest operation is aimed at fighting the ISIS terror network, that still does not confer legitimacy.

Four weeks on from the US and Turkey launching the incursion into Syrian territory, Ankara says that it is expanding its occupation.

The Syrian intelligence possesses an audio recording of conversation between Daesh terrorists and US military prior to the Washington-led coalition's airstrikes on the government troops near Deir ez-Zor on September 17, the speaker of the People's Council of Syria said Monday.

"The Syrian Army intercepted a conversation between the Americans and Daesh before the air raid on Deir ez-Zor", Hadiya Khalaf Abbas said as quoted by the Al Mayadeen broadcaster.

US warplanes hit Syrian government troops near the eastern city of Deir ez-Zor on September 17, leaving 62 military personnel killed and a hundred wounded. The Pentagon said initially that the airstrike was a mistake and targeted Daesh militants. The head of the Syrian parliament, added during her visit to Iran that after the coalition's airstrikes on the government troops US military directed terrorists' attack on the Syrian army.

Comment: See also: Update: Abbas's statement has seemingly been confirmed by Syrian lawmaker Muhammad Kheir Al-Akkam, who says the recording proves that the attack was preplanned, and not a mistake. However, it is unclear if he has heard the recording for himself: "It took some time to analyze the recording. But the statement by Hadiya Abbas proves that the government possesses the recording," he told Sputnik.

Saudi Arabia's SAMA injects $5.3 billion into banks to ease cash crunch

Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency
Saudi Arabia's central bank stepped up efforts to support lenders in the Arab world's biggest economy as they grapple with the effects of low oil prices. Banks' shares advanced.

The Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency, as the central bank is known, is giving banks about 20 billion riyals ($5.3 billion) of time deposits "on behalf of government entities." It's also introducing seven-day and 28-day repurchase agreements, as part of its "supportive monetary policy." It didn't provide further details.

The announcement, which comes as the kingdom prepares for its first international bond sale, is the latest step by the central bank to ease a cash crunch in the banking system. The Saudi Interbank Offered Rate, a key benchmark for pricing loans, has surged to the highest in seven years after the plunge in oil prices forced the government to withdraw money from the country's banking system, squeezing liquidity. The central bank was said to have offered lenders 15 billion riyals in short-term loans in June to help ease liquidity constraints.
