Jared Kushner the latest target in MSM's hysterical 'Russian agent' witch hunt

The media keeps beating the dead horse of 'Russiagate' with its ever more mundane conspiracy theories

Late 19th century British prime minister Lord Salisbury reportedly said, "The commonest error in politics is sticking to the carcass of dead policies."

What he said about politics then, is not only very true today, but can be extended to the media: their commonest error (or at least worst) is sticking to the carcass of dead stories.

Comment: It's worth recalling that the Podesta group was the lobbying firm for Russia's largest bank. Just saying.

Vladimir Putin welcomes President Rouhani to the Grand Kremlin Palace

Putin Iran Tehran Rouhani
President Rouhani's visit to Russia confirms Tehran is acquiring a security guarantee from Moscow and Beijing as it integrates itself into 'Greater Eurasia'.

Iran's President Rouhani is currently in Moscow at the head of a big Iranian delegation for comprehensive talks with Russian President Putin and with other members of the Russian leadership.

The importance the Russians attach to the talks is shown by the fact that photographs show that President Putin received President Rouhani not in the Senate building in the Kremlin where he has his office and where he normally receives foreign visitors, but in the much larger and more magnificent Grand Kremlin Palace. Though this may seem a small point, the intensely protocol conscious Russians will not have made it lightly, and the choice of venue for the meeting shows the importance the Russians attach to Rouhani's visit.

No Accountability: Will UN ever hold US responsible for civilian deaths in Iraq?

The Iraqi Army has suspended their push to recapture the city of Mosul from Daesh terrorist after US-led airstrikes killed at least 150 people in a single district.

International outrage is mounting over bombing raids in Iraq, with the attack on the Mosul al-Jadida neighborhood considered one of the deadliest atrocities for civilians since the US invasion of the country in 2003.

Local residents said more than 100 civilians, including women and children, were killed on March 17, the result of a massive strike by the US-led coalition on the heavily populated district of al-Jadida, which some reported had previously been used as a sniper position by Daesh fighters.

"The excuses and the justifications to such bombing are not convincing anyone," Alberto Garcia Watson, a former senior correspondent for HispanTV, told Radio Sputnik's Brian Becker.

Brexit day has arrived, with Prime Minister Theresa May expected to initiate the start of Britain's official departure from the European Union.

The process is kicked off by the triggering of Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, with May officially telling Brussels that the UK desires to leave the bloc. The PM has already signed a letter to European Council President Donald Tusk due to be delivered by Britain's permanent representative Tim Barrow on Wednesday.

It's not known exactly when she will pull the trigger, but she is expected to give some kind of statement after the weekly session of Prime Minister's Questions in parliament.

President Donald Trump has signed an executive order overruling the Obama administration rules intended to cut carbon emissions, vowing to achieve energy independence and put coal miners back to work.

"My administration is putting an end to the war on coal," Trump said, adding that he wants to "reverse government intrusion and to cancel job-killing regulations."

"I made my promise and I keep my promise," he told a delegation of coal miners assembled behind him on the stage at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), before he signed the document.

"We're ending the theft of American prosperity and rebuilding our beloved country," he announced, to applause.

Comment: To hell with the environment, it's all about jobs. If emissions aren't controlled, we could have China-like smog.

In a 97-2 vote, the US Senate has approved Montenegro joining the NATO alliance, which would make it the 29th member. The addition will be official once approved by the rest of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization member nations.

The two votes against Montenegro's NATO accession were cast by Republican Senators Mike Lee of Utah and Rand Paul of Kentucky.

The Senate's nearly unanimous vote on Tuesday followed a bitter procedural moment when Senator Paul objected to a cloture motion by Senator John McCain (R-Arizona) on March 16, as Paul demanded a debate over the expansion of NATO.

The Russian Air Force has increased its sorties over the East Ghouta in response to insurgents repeatedly shelling the Russian embassy in Damascus over the past month.

SOTT Exclusive: "Russians think Putin responsible for corruption!" - RFE/RL catapults the anti-Putin propaganda by misrepresenting poll

Putin rig elections

I have an embarrassing secret to admit to. I read RFE/RL. I know, shame on me. But really, it's just so much fun. So I knew I was in for a treat today when I saw this headline: "Survey: Two-Thirds Of Russians Hold Putin Responsible For Corruption". Juicy! And the first sentence doesn't disappoint:
More than two-thirds of Russian believe that President Vladimir Putin is "entirely" or "significantly" responsible for massive corruption among state officials, according to a new survey by the Levada Center.
Oh really? Hmm. Let's keep reading:
The March 28 survey found that 79 percent of Russians believe corruption has "completely infected" or "significantly infected" Russia's organs of state power.
Ahh, well that makes a bit more sense. But wait, what's this?
However, only 6 percent of respondents agreed with the statement that Putin will not seriously combat corruption because "he has a personal interest in it in one way or another."

Seventy-four percent said it was possible to either "completely" or "significantly" root out corruption, while only 21 percent said nothing could be done about the problem.
So wait a second, 66+% of Russians think Putin is personally responsible for all the corruption, but 94% of Russians seemingly don't think he has a personal stake in all that corruption? And 74% think it's possible to solve the problem? Are Russians schizophrenic? Well, no.

'Russian dressing down': Twitter explodes as Sean Spicer clashes with veteran White House reporter

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer caused a stir on social media after he got into a heated exchange with veteran journalist April Ryan over the 'perception problem' facing the Trump administration.

It's not the first time that President Trump's spokesperson has been the focus of attention as his clash with Ryan, who is American Urban Radio Networks' White House correspondent, went viral on Twitter.

Ryan, who has been in her role since Bill Clinton's second term, began asking a question about the various controversies facing the White House before Spicer interjected. "Two and a half months in, you've got this [Sally] Yates story today, you've got other things going on, you've got Russia, you've got wiretapping," she started. "No, we don't have that," objected Spicer.
