Australian elite special forces are under investigation for the possible unlawful killings of civilians in Afghanistan, including of a six-year-old child, according to leaked government documents. The papers also reveal details of a hand-severing incident involving the SAS.

Details of the killings are included in leaked Australian Defence Force documents totalling hundreds of pages, many of which were marked "AUSTEO" (Australian Eyes Only).

The documents were leaked exclusively to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), and have been referred to as"The Afghan Files" by the news outlet.

A Russian military adviser has been killed in an attack staged by militants and targeting the Syrian military in Hama province, the Russian Ministry of Defense has stated.

Nikolay Afanasov was serving in Syria as a member of the Russian military advisers' mission and was tasked with training Syrian ground forces, the ministry said Tuesday.

The captain was granted a state decoration posthumously.

It is not the first time that a Russian officer has been killed in a terrorist attack in the Syrian conflict. On May 2, another Russian military advisor, identified as Lt. Col. Aleksey Buchelnikov, was fatally shot in a gunbattle with militants in Syria. The unit he was training came under fire from terrorist snipers.

John Pilger: Why Palestine Is Still the Issue

Palestine Israel
When I first went to Palestine as a young reporter in the 1960s, I stayed on a kibbutz. The people I met were hard-working, spirited and called themselves socialists. I liked them.

One evening at dinner, I asked about the silhouettes of people in the far distance, beyond our perimeter.

"Arabs", they said, "nomads". The words were almost spat out. Israel, they said, meaning Palestine, had been mostly wasteland and one of the great feats of the Zionist enterprise was to turn the desert green.

While Trump seeks peace the Pentagon prepares for war

On the same day US President Donald Trump gave a historic handshake to Russian leader Vladimir Putin at the G20 summit in Germany, the Pentagon was hosting a meeting planning for war with Moscow.

While the event at the US military headquarters near Washington DC was made public, it was hardly reported in the Western media. The two main figures attending were Defense Secretary James Mattis and his British counterpart Michael Fallon.

The American military publication Defense One headlined the Pentagon summit: "As Trump and Putin met, US and UK defense chiefs discussed ways to deter Russia."

SOTT Focus: Trump Jr. Releases Emails: Everything You Need To Know About the Trump Jr.-Russian Lawyer Nothing-Burger

By all means, head on over to the New York Times for the full story on how evil Donald Trump Jr. met with an evil Russian lawyer offering up all the dirt on Hillary Clinton, directly provided to her (the Russian lawyer) by evil president Vladimir Putin's evil Russian government minions, all to ensure evil Donald Trump's election as president. Or, if you'd rather not waste your time reading reams of overinflated garbage, here's everything you need to know about the latest FakeNews nothing-burger.

The story has now had three incarnations, courtesy of the failing New York Times. During the Trump campaign,
  1. Trump Jr. met Russian lawyer. (Not juicy enough.)
  2. Trump Jr. met Russian lawyer who promised the dirt on Hillary. (Juicier, but not quite there yet!)
  3. Trump Jr. met Russian lawyer working directly for the Kremlin who promised the dirt on Hillary. (Almost there!)
It's only a matter of time before phase four introduces some Russian honey traps and personal notes written to Trump in Vlad's elegant handwriting. We're not there yet, but version three is being called a bombshell. Hardly. The only reason the story gets inflated with each passing day is because it's a big, fat nothing-burger. The NYT knows that, so they're intentionally embellishing another non-story.

Chuck Schumer's on a crusade to ban snortable raw chocolate

snortable chocolate
Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) appears to be a man with way too much time on his hands. Either that, or he has grown temporarily bored with promoting the disproven conspiracy theories of Russian hacking.

Something is obviously amiss. What other explanation can there be for the Senator's recent ridiculous campaign to force the FDA to begin regulating chocolate?

Schumer launched his initiative on Saturday in order to enlist the FDA in a fight to regulate "snortable chocolate" powder that is being used by some in clubs for euphoria and energy.

Schumer specifically targeted products like Coco Loko whose product is marketed as raw cacao snuff. The product includes powder that is made from raw cacao beans which contain caffeine.

Coco Loko also specifically contains other substances including taurine, guarana and ginkgo biloba.

Cozy relationship between Blair government and Gaddafi regime uncovered in secret files

Secret Libyan files uncovered by lawyers and presented as part of a high court rendition case have revealed that spies from Britain and Libya enjoyed cozy relations in the early stages of the 'War on Terror'.

Details from the documents were presented at the High Court by lawyers acting for Abdelhakim Belhaj, a Libyan dissident, whom, along with his then-pregnant wife, Fatima Boudchar, were kidnapped and delivered to the North African state's torture chambers with the help of the UK.

This process known as rendition - official jargon for kidnap and torture - was widely used in the wake of the 9/11 attacks of 2001.

The files also contain evidence, which was given to MI6 by Libyan spies, indicating that Belhaj's rendition radicalized the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) of which he was once part.

The American police state's answer to free speech is brute force

"Since when have we Americans been expected to bow submissively to authority and speak with awe and reverence to those who represent us? The constitutional theory is that we the people are the sovereigns, the state and federal officials only our agents. We who have the final word can speak softly or angrily. We can seek to challenge and annoy, as we need not stay docile and quiet."—Justice William O. Douglas, dissenting, Colten v. Kentucky, 407 U.S. 104 (1972)
Police Brutality

Forget everything you've ever been taught about free speech in America.

It's all a lie.

There can be no free speech for the citizenry when the government speaks in a language of force.

What is this language of force?

Militarized police. Riot squads. Camouflage gear. Black uniforms. Armored vehicles. Mass arrests. Pepper spray. Tear gas. Batons. Strip searches. Surveillance cameras. Kevlar vests. Drones. Lethal weapons. Less-than-lethal weapons unleashed with deadly force. Rubber bullets. Water cannons. Stun grenades. Arrests of journalists. Crowd control tactics. Intimidation tactics. Brutality.

This is not the language of freedom.

This is not even the language of law and order.

This is the language of force.

Unfortunately, this is how the government at all levels—federal, state and local—now responds to those who choose to exercise their First Amendment right to peacefully assemble in public and challenge the status quo.

This police overkill isn't just happening in troubled hot spots such as Ferguson, Mo., and Baltimore, Md., where police brutality gave rise to civil unrest, which was met with a militarized show of force that caused the whole stew of discontent to bubble over into violence.

The US military has deployed Patriot anti-aircraft systems to the Baltics with the stated goal of taking part in NATO war games, Lithuania's Defense Ministry said. It's the first such deployment to a region already in the midst of a Western military buildup.

The Patriots arrived in Lithuania as part of the Tobruq Legacy 2017 air defense drills, which will run until July 22, the Lithuanian Defense Ministry said in a press release.

Comment: Question is will the Patriot missile system be moved back after the exercises?

The exercise will involve about 500 troops and 30 various air defense systems, the ministry said, without providing details on the size of the US task force or number of Patriot batteries.

"The deployment demonstrates the steadfast US commitment to the security of Lithuania and its high readiness to send strategic capabilities to the region," it said.

US and Qatar sign agreement to step up Doha's counterterrorism efforts

The United States and Qatar have signed an agreement to step up the emirate's efforts to fight terrorism. It comes as Washington tries to mediate in ending other Gulf nations' blockade of Qatar.

The memorandum of understanding was signed on Tuesday during US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson's visit to Qatar, where he went to mediate in a month-long dispute between the country and its four neighbors: Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.

Elements of the deal were in the works as far back as a year ago, Tillerson said.

The agreement is not "directly or indirectly" related to the regional powers cutting ties with Doha, claimed Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani. It is a separate, bilateral deal, the minister maintained.
