How the NYT undermined mask evidence: Leaked emails reveal how scientists were smeared

Amid the storm of US election headlines in recent weeks, a snippet of news began bubbling up on social media that, only a few years ago, would have whipped up a frenzied media hurricane. President Biden had tested positive for Covid and videos posted on X showed him boarding and exiting Airforce One, but without a mask.

"Listen to the scientists, support masks," Biden said at a campaign rally, four years ago, berating Trump for not wearing a mask after he had caught Covid. "Support a mask mandate nationwide," Biden thundered to cheers and adulation. His campaign message captured a "follow the science" sentiment among Left-leaning American voters who derided anyone questioning mask effectiveness with the label "anti-mask". This, despite a smattering of articles in Scientific American, Wired, New York Magazine and The Atlantic reporting that scientific studies found masks didn't seem to stop viruses.

The debate over mask effectiveness took an odd turn last year when ardent mask advocate, Zeynep Tufekci, wrote a New York Times essay claiming "the science is clear that masks work". Tufekci's piece denigrated and belittled a scientific review by the prestigious medical nonprofit, Cochrane, for concluding that the evidence is "uncertain".

Comment: The Covid 'cover-up' was not the mask. It was the manipulation of science.

Musk leading coup attempt in Venezuela - Maduro

Maduro

Both Washington and the tech tycoon supported the opposition candidate in Venezuela's presidential election.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Friday accused the US Government and South African tycoon Elon Musk of attempting to orchestrate a coup in the country.

Venezuela's National Electoral Council (CNE) on Sunday declared Maduro the winner of the country's presidential election, announcing that with 80% of ballots counted, he had secured more than 51% of the vote, compared to 44% for his main rival Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia.

However, Gonzalez's Western supporters, including Tesla and SpaceX CEO Musk, rushed to accuse Maduro and the CNE of election fraud. Washington went as far as to officially recognize Gonzalez as the winner of the election.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said:
"With overwhelming evidence, it is clear to the US...that Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia won the most votes."
At a press conference in Caracas, Maduro lambasted Blinken, calling his attempt to "declare" the results of another country's election an act of "despair" and "a gesture uncharacteristic of US diplomacy."

US deploys forces to defend Israel

The Pentagon will send additional military resources amid the escalation between West Jerusalem and Tehran.

Washington has ordered more destroyers, cruisers, and an additional fighter squadron to the Middle East to defend Israel amid rising tensions with Iran, the US Defense Department said on Friday.

In addition, the US has ordered the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group to relieve the USS Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier currently deployed in the Middle East.

The announcement comes amid rising tensions after this week's killing of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. Both Hamas and Iran have blamed Israel for the attack and have promised revenge. Iran also stated that the US bears partial responsibility for the attack as a "supporter and accomplice" of Israel.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has ordered adjustments to the US military posture to help defend Israel, a Pentagon press release published on Friday said.

On top of the aircraft carrier group, the deployed forces will include "additional ballistic missile defense-capable cruisers and destroyers, as well as an extra fighter squadron. The Department is also taking steps to increase our readiness to deploy additional land-based ballistic missile defense." the statement said.

Comment: Israel's hutzpah banks on US support via direct involvement. Better ideas: 1) Stay home. 2) Deploy Congress!

Biden victim of 'a coup' - Trump

Biden

The Democratic Party "staged a coup" against US President Joe Biden, former President Donald Trump has claimed. Trump has previously alleged that Barack Obama orchestrated Biden's withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race.

Biden suspended his reelection bid last month, after a weeks-long pressure campaign in which senior Democrats - including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and former President Barack Obama - and party donors convinced the 81-year-old that he could not defeat Trump in November.

Trump told Fox News' Laura Ingraham in an interview this week:
"They staged a coup against the President of the United States. They went in and they told him 'you're leaving, you're way down in the polls', 17 points, I think."

"It's like you're in a fight with somebody, and you're really winning, and they take him out and they put somebody else in. Nobody ever heard of this before. This is a coup."
Speaking to the New York Post last month, Trump claimed:
"Obama can't stand Biden, and played a leading role in ousting his former vice president from the race. They all dumped him, and they said, 'Either you get out nice or we're going to go after you.' And that's what happened. And he had no choice. There's no question about it."

Comment: Political sounds and furies signify nothing. There is more at stake. Trump sees it. Does Kamala?

Britain's nuclear submarine software built by Belarusian engineers, against secret service rules

© Jeff J Mitchell/Getty ImagesFILE: Royal Navy personnel guard HMS Vigilant at Clyde naval base in Scotland. Vigilant is one of the UK's fleet of four submarines carrying the Trident nuclear missile system, which is costing £200bn to renew.
Engineers in the UK have been found using software developed in Russia and Belarus for the operation of the country's nuclear submarines, breaching Ministry of Defence regulations, The Telegraph reports.

The software, intended to be created by specialists with secret clearance, was partly outsourced to developers in Siberia and Belarus, prompting the Ministry to launch an investigation in summer 2022, which concluded in February 2023.

The investigation revealed that Rolls-Royce Submarines, responsible for managing the UK's nuclear submarine fleet, had outsourced software development to WM Reply, a consulting firm.

Comment: Were this the other way around, it's likely that the West would use this advantage to the world's detriment. However, as it is, it seems the West's incompetence and corruption - which is evident in a great many of its endeavours, particularly in its military technological development - may actually be of some benefit to world stability: US F-35B test jet crashes shortly after takeoff in New Mexico

US plans 'historic' upgrade to its military command structure in Japan, also discuss nuclear deterrence

In one of the biggest upgrades to the U.S.-Japan alliance since its inception, the U.S. will revamp its command in Japan, giving it a "direct leadership role" over American forces in operational planning in both peacetime and in potential crises, the countries' defense chiefs and top diplomats announced Sunday, as the allies' look to counter what they say is an increasingly assertive China.

Comment: Meanwhile other elements in Japan seem to want to better their relations: Japan and China resume strategic dialogue after 4 years

The announcement, which came after "two-plus-two" talks between Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa and Defense Minister Minoru Kihara and their U.S. counterparts, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, was among a number of fresh defense and security initiatives unveiled after the meeting, the first since January last year.

"The United States will upgrade the U.S. Forces Japan (USFJ) to a joint force headquarters with expanded missions and operational responsibilities," Austin told a joint news conference after the meeting. "This will be the most significant change to U.S. Forces Japan since its creation — one of the strongest improvements in our military ties with Japan in 70 years."

Comment: Indeed, provoking China into some kind of conflict seems to be the point. And it seems the US will selflessly sacrifice the safety and security of Japan to that end: US army stations special forces 'permanently' near mainland China's coast, begins training Taiwan's troops

A mysterious Ukrainian plot prompts a rare call from Russia to the Pentagon

Russia's defense minister said he needed to talk to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin about an alleged Ukrainian operation. What happened next remains murky.

Earlier this month, Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III received an unusual request from an unlikely caller: His Russian counterpart wanted to talk.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, Mr. Austin had spoken by phone with Russia's defense minister only five other times, almost always at the Pentagon's initiative and often in an effort to avoid miscalculations that could escalate the conflict.

In fact, Mr. Austin had reached out to Russia's new defense minister, Andrei Belousov, just a couple of weeks earlier, on June 25, in an effort to keep the "lines of communication open," the Pentagon said. It was the first phone call between the two men since Mr. Belousov, an economist, replaced Sergei K. Shoigu, Russia's long-running defense minister, in a Kremlin shake-up in May.

Microsoft banned young, female interns from being alone with Bill Gates, new book by NYT journalist reveals

Jeffrey Epstein bill gates
According to the book, Melinda Gates became motivated to divorce her husband after his relationship with pedophile Jeffrey Epstein was exposed
Bill Gates was like a 'kid in a candy store' with young pretty Microsoft interns, so much so that they were banned from being alone with him, an upcoming book claims.

Intimate details of the billionaire's relationships with women are set to be exposed by New York Times journalist Anupreeta Das, who writes that Gates' infidelity left his wife Melinda 'seething for a long time.'

Bill's calendar would allegedly include blocks of time which were for unexplained reasons, and his security staff were once overhauled by Melinda because she felt they were 'enabling' him.

In upcoming book 'Billionaire, Nerd, Savior, King: Bill Gates and His Quest to Shape Our World', it is claimed that the Gates' marriage finally hit breaking point in 2019 when his connection to pedophile Jeffrey Epstein came to light.

Comment: Indeed, it's rather alarming that such a character, who has full support of the establishment, would be on a 'quest to shape our world'.

Comment: As for Bill's refutation of the allegations, well, he's wealthy enough to take them to court if they're untrue.

Paris Olympics epitomize toxic Western elitism and disconnect from real world

Clown Marcon

The Paris Summer Olympic Games opened last Friday to a global controversy with the organizers accused of offending billions of Christians and Muslims around the world through profane depictions of Jesus Christ (a revered prophet in Islam) surrounded by drag queens.

It wasn't just the alleged scurrilous debasement of Da Vinci's iconic Last Supper tableau. The entire opening ceremony of the XXXIII Olympiad was a kitsch spectacle that seemed to be reduced to a tawdry Gay Pride event. The Paris 2024 organizers claimed that the theme was meant to convey "inclusiveness" and humanitarian tolerance - although, indicative of fault, they later offered a groveling apology for offending.

The controversy continued during the first week of sporting events when the triathlon swimming in the Seine River was initially canceled due to dangerous pollution levels and then ordered to go ahead despite concerns for the safety of participants. Athletes complained that they were forced to swim through sewage and rat-infested waters so that the French organizers would not lose face over a public relations disaster.

The pollution fiasco could serve as a metaphor for how Western elitist politicians have lost the plot on the realities of today's world. No amount of fancy French perfumery can hide the stink behind the cheap politicization of the Games.

After spending over $1.5 billion on purportedly cleaning it up, the Seine is as toxic from contamination as it ever was since public bathing was banned in the river a century ago.

Israelis say it's okay to rape Palestinian prisoners

The Israeli lawmaker from the ruling Likud party, Hanoch Milwidsky, said that "everything is legitimate" when asked whether it was justified to rape Palestinian prisoners. "To insert a stick in a person's rectum, is that legitimate?" asked Ahmad Tibi, a Palestinian lawmaker.... "Yes! If he is a Nukhba everything is legitimate to do to him," screamed Milwidsky back. Maktoob Media
Israel has crossed all lines of barbarism and savagery. This a new level of depravity.
- - Abdi, Twitter
On Monday, Israeli extremists broke into an IDF military base in Beit Lid to protest the detention of nine Israeli reservists who allegedly tortured and sodomized a Palestinian prisoner in their custody. The chaotic disturbance within the building was captured on video and widely circulated on Twitter. (See here) The mob was enraged by the fact that military personnel could be held accountable for the brutal and inhuman treatment of Palestinian detainees. They believe that any punishment meted out to Palestinian prisoners -however cruel and barbaric- is both warranted and justifiable. As numerous people have noted on social media, the protestors were essentially defending the right of the reservists to rape Palestinian prisoners. That is the only conclusion one can draw from their behavior.

Comment: Israel's unrestrained socio/psychopathic nature, requiring victimization of others, is never fulfilled. 'Do onto others' - period.
