President Donald Trump's legal team asked the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals this week to deny the Department of Justice's (DOJ) motion to appeal the order granting a special master and using seized documents by the FBI during the Mar-a-Lago raid.

In the Tuesday filing, Trump lawyer Christopher Kise argued that the federal government is "wrongfully" seeking "to criminalize the possession by the 45th President of his own Presidential and personal records," according to Just the News. Therefore, given the political circumstances in the case, Trump-appointed U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon affirmed that granting a special master and entry of a limited injunction was "'fully consonant' with 'the public interest, the principles of civil and criminal procedure, and the principles of equity.'"

With investment firms such as BlackRock demanding that companies meet environmental, social, and governance (ESG) benchmarks if they want investors' money, U.S. corporate elites seem to have adopted a left-wing worldview. Does it mean that Big Finance is on the verge of going Red?

No. It's just a fashionable ideological cover Wall Street is using to disguise its efforts to crush Main Street and bleed the middle class into servitude.

And yes. Insofar as communism is just a utopian narrative that 20th and 21st century ruling classes have used to rationalize oligarchy, the corporate class's anti-free market rhetoric is evidence of its efforts to impoverish the middle class. Thus, the specter of "woke capital" is haunting America, where money managers such as BlackRock CEO Larry Fink sit at the top of an aspirational dictatorship of the proletariat.

In the latest episode of "Over the Target Live," historian and essayist Michael Rectenwald explains how woke capitalism "is a monopoly scheme" designed to destroy free-market competition, the pillar of our economic and political system.

Fink and others are monopolists who talk like socialists. And for good reason, says Rectenwald: "Socialism is nothing if not a monopoly."

Throughout my adult life I have tended to describe the thing to which I am primarily opposed as "capitalism".

Over the last couple of years, however, I have started to wonder whether this is quite the right word.

Not only does it hinder communication with people used to different political terminologies, but it is looking increasingly outmoded as the powers-that-be try to push us into a harsh new totalitarian era.

I have gradually stopped using the term and, when I share pieces of my older writing which contain the word, I feel slightly awkward and don't quite know how to reply to people who feel it is not altogether appropriate.

The funny thing, though, is that my views have not actually changed. The entity which I have spent my life combatting remains the same, regardless of the label I might stick on it.

It is not really an "-ism", an abstract ideological concept which mysteriously casts our societies under its motivational spell, but a real and physical system, built on capital, which is maintained by real and physical players.

It is an arrangement by which a tiny minority of extremely wealthy people possess all the power and privilege in the world at the expense of the vast majority of us, whom they regard as both dangerous and dispensible.

It is accumulation for the few, dispossession for the many.

It is a plutocracy, a dictatorship of the ultra-rich hiding behind the rhetoric of democracy while knowing that real democracy would be incompatible with its ongoing supremacy and thus doing all it can to prevent it from ever flourishing.

It is an organized religion of greed, a cult of power. It is an octopus, a monster, it is Leviathan.

It is the rule of gold, of usury, of filthy lucre, of pelf, of Mammon.

The subject of this address is the situation in Donbass and the course of the special military operation to liberate it from the neo-Nazi regime, which seized power in Ukraine in 2014 as the result of an armed state coup.

Today I am addressing you - all citizens of our country, people of different generations, ages and ethnicities, the people of our great Motherland, all who are united by the great historical Russia, soldiers, officers and volunteers who are fighting on the frontline and doing their combat duty, our brothers and sisters in the Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions and other areas that have been liberated from the neo-Nazi regime.

The issue concerns the necessary, imperative measures to protect the sovereignty, security and territorial integrity of Russia and support the desire and will of our compatriots to choose their future independently, and the aggressive policy of some Western elites, who are doing their utmost to preserve their domination and with this aim in view are trying to block and suppress any sovereign and independent development centres in order to continue to aggressively force their will and pseudo-values on other countries and nations.

The goal of that part of the West is to weaken, divide and ultimately destroy our country. They are saying openly now that in 1991 they managed to split up the Soviet Union and now is the time to do the same to Russia, which must be divided into numerous regions that would be at deadly feud with each other.


Comment: Defense Minister Shoigu also gave a statement:

International responses are pouring in. The U.S. and their allies:
"Sham referenda and mobilization are signs of weakness, of Russian failure," US ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink wrote on Twitter on Wednesday.

She insisted that Washington "will never recognize Russia's claim to purportedly annexed Ukrainian territory," referring to the planned votes on joining Russia to be held in Donbass, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions between September 23 and 27. ... "We will continue to stand with Ukraine for as long as it takes," Brink promised.

British ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons came up with an almost identical tweet on the issue, claiming that Russia's President Vladimir Putin "still refuses to understand Ukraine. Partial mobilization and sham referenda don't change that essential weakness."

One of the key members of the German government Robert Habeck, who is both vice chancellor and economy minister, described Moscow's partial mobilization as "another bad and misguided step" by the country.

Habeck also vowed that Berlin will continue to support Kiev in its conflict with Moscow.
China:
China's position that the parties involved in the security crisis should exercise restraint and seek a mutually acceptable solution has been consistent and clear, Wang Wenbin, a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, told journalists during a daily briefing on Wednesday, as quoted by news agencies.
On Putin's nuclear comments, White House spokesman John Kirby:
"We always have to take this kind of rhetoric seriously," but condemned Putin's reference to the use of nuclear weapons, adding that "it's irresponsible rhetoric for a nuclear power to talk that way."

Kirby said Washington was monitoring the situation "as best we can" but noted there has been no indication that Russia has shifted its strategic posture and that the US currently sees no need to adjust its own.

In the event that Russia does decide to deploy nuclear weapons, Kirby warned that there would be "severe consequences" for Moscow, referring to a previous statement by US President Joe Biden, in which he urged Russia to avoid using nukes, saying it would "change the face of war unlike anything since WWII."
The EU legalistically insists it isn't at war with Russia:
Speaking at a press conference, [policy spokesman Peter] Stano was asked whether the EU is in a state of war with Russia, given that earlier Vladimir Putin had claimed that Russia is facing "the entire Western military machine" in Ukraine. The foreign policy spokesman replied in the negative.

"Of course we are not in war with Russia. We are supporting Ukraine's legitimate, justified fight to defend its people and its territory," he said, adding that Kiev is protecting not only itself, but also European democratic values.

Stano also denounced the mobilization announcement, calling it "just another proof" that Putin is not interested in peace and seeks to "escalate his war of aggression." "This is also yet another sign of his desperation," Stano added.

While the official vowed that the EU would impose "consequences" on Russia over its latest moves in Ukraine, he didn't announce any new sanctions. At the same time, Stano signaled that EU members have been "discussing joint action in response" to the latest developments in the Ukraine conflict, declining, however, to provide any details.
When will all these Western talking heads realize that simply speaking words does not make them true?

New York Attorney General Letitia James on Wednesday filed a $250 million lawsuit against former President Donald Trump, his kids Eric, Ivanka and Donald Trump Jr., and the Trump Organization — alleging "staggering" fraud in the family real estate business.

The 220-page suit filed in Manhattan Supreme Court is the culmination of a three-year investigation by the Democrat's office to determine whether the Trump Organization's assets were exaggerated for loan, insurance and tax purposes.

"Donald Trump falsely inflated his net worth by billions of dollars to unjustly enrich himself, and cheat the system, thereby cheating all of us," James said at a news conference announcing the suit.

Soros and his network of wealthy radicals believe the criminal justice system is so corrupt, so hopelessly racist, that justice is literally impossible. They have little interest in reforming the system. Instead, they want to destroy it from within.

They don't engage the electorate by having an open debate about the criminal justice system. These billionaires seek to circumvent the entire democratic process by electing candidates who will refuse to enforce laws passed by the people through their representatives.

Equally disconcerting, these Trojan Horse prosecutors drop any pretense of impartiality. They bring a highly charged political viewpoint to an office that is supposed to be apolitical. AG James is also trying to disband the NRA. Like Captain Ahab chasing after the white whale, they are obsessed with undermining the President, and ultimately our nation.

Sadly, the millions in contributions from the Soros network have allowed their far-left candidates to overwhelm their opponents by outspending them by as much as 3 to 1. One Democrat who was unseated by a Soros acolyte said, "This is an election that was bought, not won."

Soros and his allies have installed "woke" prosecutors in 31 cities and counties, among them San Francisco, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, Portland, Dallas, and St. Louis! The tens of millions of Americans who live in those jurisdictions are paying a dear price for allowing Soros to buy prosecutors' offices and weaponize the raw power that comes from the enforcement (or lack thereof) of the law.

The US agenda in Africa is hegemony

Forget development. Washington's primary interest in Africa today is keeping the Chinese and Russians out.

In a rational environment, the 77th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) would discuss alleviating the trials and tribulations of the Global South, especially Africa.

That won't be the case. Like a deer caught in the geopolitical headlights, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres issued platitudes about a gloomy "winter of global discontent," even as the proverbial imperial doomsayers criticized the UN's "crisis of faith" and blasted the "unprovoked war" started by Russia.

Of course the slow-motion genocide of Donbass russophone residents for eight years would never be recognized as a provocation.

Guterres spoke of Afghanistan, "where the economy is in ruins and human rights are being trampled" - but he did not dare to offer context. In Libya, "divisions continue to jeopardize the country" - once again, no context. Not to mention Iraq, where "ongoing tensions threaten ongoing stability."

Africa has 54 nations as UN members. Any truly representative UNGA meeting should place Africa's problems at the forefront. Once again, that's not the case. So it is left to African leaders to offer that much-needed context outside of the UN building in New York.

As the only African member of the G20, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa recently urged the US not to "punish" the whole continent by forcing nations to demonize or sanction Russia. Washington's introduction of legislation dubbed the Countering Malign Russian Activities in Africa Act, he says, "will harm Africa and marginalize the continent."

South Africa is a BRICS member - a concept that is anathema in the Beltway - and embraces a policy of non-alignment among world powers. An emerging 21st century version of the 1960s Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) is strengthening across the Global South - and especially Africa - much to the revulsion of the US and its minions.

Back at the UNGA, Guterres invoked the global fertilizer crisis - again, with no context. Russian diplomacy has repeatedly stressed that Moscow is ready to export 30 million tons of grain and over 20 million tons of fertilizer by the end of 2022. What is left unsaid in the west, is that only the importation of fertilizers to the EU is "allowed," while transit to Africa is not.

Guterres said he was trying to persuade EU leaders to lift sanctions on Russian fertilizer exports, which directly affect cargo payments and shipping insurance. Russia's Uralchem, for instance, even offered to supply fertilizers to Africa for free.

Yet from the point of view of the US and its EU vassals, the only thing that matters is to counter Russia and China in Africa. Senegal's President Macky Sall has remarked how this policy is leaving "a bitter taste."

Here's the real reason that the US wants to sanction China

Washington's modus operandi is 'create problem, blame target country, impose sanctions, expand influence'.

The US is considering sanctioning China as a deterrent from attacking Taiwan, according to media reports. Washington always justifies economic sanctions by evoking a military or security threat against either the US or any one of its allies. Then it actively works to prove the legitimacy of the threat - or to create the illusion thereof.

One such instance involved House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's trip to Taipei over the summer, which was a gratuitous provocation of China at a time when the US is actively involved in arming, training, and funding fighters against Russia in the Ukraine conflict. This same blueprint for ramping up tensions against Washington's geopolitical foes has been used all over the world, from Latin America to the Middle East.

The formula is simple. Find and support opposition groups or governments, either within the target countries or on their border, who are willing to do Washington's bidding in exchange for benefits (or promises thereof). If the target country reacts, it's qualified by the West as a "crackdown" or an attack, both of which conveniently open the door for the deployment of various tools in the Western arsenal for global hegemony - all in the name of defending freedom, democracy, and human rights, of course.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at Samarkand on September 16 after the SCO Summit turned into a media scandal. The Western media zeroed in on six words culled out of context in the PM's opening remarks — "today's era is not of war" — to triumphantly proclaim that India is finally distancing itself from Russia on Ukraine issue, as the US and European leaders have been incessantly demanding.

Of course, this motivated interpretation lacks empirical evidence and is, therefore, malicious. Besides, Modi also spoke with a rare interplay of emotions by underscoring the quintessence of the Indian-Russian relationship, as well as his two decade-long association with Putin.

The steamy part cooked up by the US media shows the desperation on the part of the "Collective West" to isolate Russia at a time when even western leaders have candidly admitted that the bulk of the non-western world does not identify with the western narrative on Ukraine and refuses to roll back their relationship with Russia.

Many countries are, in fact, stepping up their cooperation with Russia — Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iran, for example. Curiously, even western companies are loathe to leave the highly attractive Russian market where business returns are high. A report in the Atlantic Council magazine on September 18 highlights that although something like 1,000 multinational corporations had announced that they would be leaving Russia in the wake of the western sanctions, "the unfortunate reality is that... three-quarters of the most profitable foreign multinationals remain in Russia." Thus, statistically, while 106 western companies exited the Russian market, over 1,149 internationals still remain and simply keep silent about it.

The giant Sakhalin-2 oil-and-natural-gas project in the Russian Far East is a celebrated case where two big Japanese energy investors Mitsui and Mitsublishi, with government support, simply refused to quit, as the Russian project supplies 9 percent of Japan's energy needs. The G7 has no option but to exempt Japan from the purview of sanctions when it comes to Sakhalin-2!

Again, the West continues to import fertiliser from Russia and to that end, lifts the restrictions on shipping, insurance, etc. But the restrictions continue against Russia's exports of food grain and fertiliser to the non-Western world. Russia has now offered to distribute the fertiliser held up in European ports free of charge to the poorest countries in Africa if only the restrictions for exports are waived, but Europe would rather use it for own needs.

Estonia's Prime Minister, Kaja Kallas has insisted that she's doing a lot to help Ukraine amid its conflict with Russia and doesn't need to travel to Kiev to prove it.

During an interview with Postimees website on Monday, Kallas was asked why she hasn't followed in the footsteps of the leaders of Germany, France, Italy, the UK who visited Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in Kiev.

"I believe that I am doing a lot for the benefit of Ukraine. I don't need to prove anything by going to a military hotspot to once again appear in the news feeds," she responded.

Comment: Well, these leaders are visiting for their own PR, as well as for a sales pitch to convince their own citizens that suffering a cold, hungry, and dark, winter, is a price worth paying so long as the West can fund its proxy war on Russia:
