How BRICS may deliver structural shock to US dollar system

BRICS in Brazil

The oligarchy that really controls the Empire of Chaos has hit the panic button, as the structural contours of Hegemony seriously wobble.

The petrodollar is one of the key features of this Hegemony: a recycling machine channeling non-stop buying of US Treasuries then spent on Forever Wars. Any player even thinking of diversifying from this infernal machine is met with asset freezes, sanctions - or worse.

At the same time, the Empire of Chaos cannot demonstrate raw power by bleeding itself dry in the black soil of Novorossiya. Dominance requires ever-expanding - plundered - resources, side by side with that non-stop printing of US dollars as a reserve currency to pay for astronomic bills. Additionally, borrowing from the world works as imperial financial containment of rivals.

But now a choice becomes imperative - an inescapable structural constraint. Either keep astronomical spending on military dominance (enter Trump's proposed $1.5 trillion budget for the Department of War.) Or keep ruling the international financial system.

The Empire of Chaos cannot do both.

And that's why, when the math was done, Ukraine became expendable. At least in theory.

The straw that broke the steppe camel's back was the freezing - actually stealing - of Russian assets after the expulsion of a nuclear/hypersonic power, Russia, from SWIFT. Now it's clear that Central Banks everywhere are going for gold, bilateral deals and considering alternative payment systems.

As the first serious structural shock to the system since the end of WWII, BRICS is not overtly trying to overturn the system - but to build a viable alternative, complete with large-scale infrastructure financing bypassing the US dollar.

Venezuela now illustrates a critical case: Can a major oil producer survive outside of the US dollar system - without being destroyed?

The Empire of Chaos has ruled, "No". The Global South must prove it wrong. Venezuela was not that critical on the geopolitical chessboard as it represented just 4% of China's oil imports. Iran in fact is the crucial case, as 95% of its oil is sold to China and settled in yuan, not US dollars.

Iran though is not Venezuela. The latest coordinated intel op/terror attacks/regime change attempt on Iran - complete with a pathetic mini-Shah refugee in Maryland - miserably failed. The threat of war, though, remains.

Flashback ICE Signs $2 Million Contract With Spyware Maker Paragon Solutions

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement has signed a $2 million contract with Israeli commercial spyware vendor Paragon Solutions, according to documents reviewed by WIRED.

The one-year contract between the company's US subsidiary in Chantilly, Virginia, and ICE's Homeland Security Investigations Division 3 was signed on September 27 and covers a "fully configured proprietary solution including license, hardware, warranty, maintenance and training."

Paragon has received the award under the FAR 6.302-1 rule reserved for unique and innovative services not otherwise available to the government and not via the typical competitive process.

It is unknown whether the contract is for the deployment of Paragon's flagship product, Graphite — a spyware that reportedly extracts data primarily from cloud backups — or another of the company's products or services. ICE and Paragon did not immediately respond to WIRED's requests for comment.

This is not Paragon's first government agency contract. The New York Times reported in December 2022 that the US Drug Enforcement Administration had used Graphite. Similarly, an intelligence publication reported in March 2023 that Paragon had landed a major contract in Singapore worth "tens of millions of dollars."

UK's X ban has NOTHING to do with protecting children

keir starmer britain ban musk x
© ModernityStarmer claims banning Elon Musk's X is 'for the children'
Snapchat accounts for over half of recorded online child sexual crimes

As UK authorities ramp up their assault on free speech, a viral post shared by Elon Musk exposes the glaring hypocrisy in the government's "protect the children" narrative. Data from the The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) and police forces reveals Snapchat as the epicenter of online child sexual grooming, dwarfing X's minimal involvement.

This comes amid Keir Starmer's escalating war on X, where community notes routinely dismantle government spin, and unfiltered truth is delivered to the masses. If safeguarding kids was the real goal, it would be the likes of Snapchat in the crosshairs, given that thousands of real world child sexual offences have originated from its use.

Instead they're going after X because, they claim, it provides the ability to make fake images of anyone in a bikini using the inbuilt Grok Ai image generator.

Comment: And from Breitbart:
The British government has reportedly reached out to fellow leftist-run Anglo-sphere nations Australia and Canada in an attempt to wage a coordinated campaign to potentially ban Elon Musk's X social media platform.

The recently enacted Online Safety Act — passed by the previous "Conservative" government — empowers broadcasting regulator Ofcom to impose fines of up to 10 per cent of a social media firm's global revenue, and allows for bans in extreme cases.

Yet, apparently reticent to draw the ire of President Donald Trump alone, Downing Street reportedly held talks in recent days with Canberra and Ottawa to craft a joint response to the tech platform, The Telegraph reported.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who is pushing for more censorship rules in his own country following the Islamist mass shooting at Bondi Beach last month, said, "The fact that this tool was used so that people were using its image creation function through Grok is, I think, just completely abhorrent. It, once again, is an example of social media not showing social responsibility. Australians and indeed, global citizens deserve better."

For his part, Elon Musk, who has long been critical of the increasingly censorious climate in Britain, accused Starmer's government of acting "fascist" and suggested that they were merely looking for "any excuse for censorship" of X.

Censorship has become increasingly prevalent in Britain. Despite its long tradition of freedom of speech, the country is arresting around 30 people every day for comments made on social media, or over 12,000 per year. Such offences can include the sharing of "grossly offensive" messages or spreading content of "indecent, obscene or menacing character".

The banning of X would remove a major headache for the struggling Labour government, which has come under consistent pressure personally from Musk, on issues such as freedom of speech, immigration, and the predominantly Pakistani Muslim child rape gangs and the failures of police and government to protect mostly young white working-class girls.

However, such an action taken against one of President Trump's key allies and a major American business could risk further angering the White House, which has made fighting censorship in Europe a key foreign policy plank.

Indeed, just last month, the Trump administration sanctioned multiple Europeans, including two Britons, for their involvement in the international censorship industry.

This included Imran Ahmed, the head of the Centre for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH), an organisation with close ties to Prime Minister Starmer's chief of staff, Morgan McSweeney. The administration has sought to deport Ahmed from the United States for his group's efforts to censor American conservative outlets, including Breitbart News.

While the CCDH has close ties to the Labour government, the White House has yet to sign off on sanctions against any British government official.

This may change if X is banned, however, with Republican Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna vowing to introduce legislation to sanction Prime Minister Starmer and the UK as a whole should the platform be banned in the UK.

"There are always technical bugs during the early phases of new technology, especially AI, and those issues are typically addressed quickly. X treats these matters seriously and acts promptly. Let's be clear: this is not about technical compliance. This is a political war against Elon Musk and free speech — nothing more," she said.

Clintons face arrest after snubbing order to testify in Epstein enquiry

Couple insist Trump administration is 'trying to punish' them for political reasons

Bill and Hillary Clinton are facing the possibility of arrest after refusing to testify before Congress about Jeffrey Epstein.

The couple were ordered to give depositions to the Republican-led house oversight committee regarding the former president's relationship with the paedophile on Aug 5.

However, the couple made it clear they had no plans to appear on Capitol Hill in a letter sent to James Comer, the Republican chairman of the committee on Tuesday.

"We are confident that any reasonable person in or out of Congress will see, based on everything we release, that what you are doing is trying to punish those who you see as your enemies and to protect those you think are your friends," the letter reads.

Comment: Fox News adds:
A criminal contempt of Congress charge is a misdemeanor that carries a punishment of up to one year in jail and a maximum $100,000 fine if convicted.

Burchett, however, told reporters he was not confident that the Department of Justice (DOJ) would pursue such a referral.

"I've been really disappointed in our Justice Department, so I would hope that maybe they're making some changes over there," Burchett said.

The former first couple were two of 10 people who Comer initially subpoenaed in the House's Epstein investigation after a unanimous bipartisan vote directed him to do so last year. Fox News Digital was first to report on the subpoenas in August.

Clinton was known to be friendly with the late pedophile before his federal charges but was never implicated in any wrongdoing related to him.
Never one to resist a good scandal, the Daily Mail reports:
Bill and Hillary Clinton have declared themselves above the law as they refused to testify before Congress on Jeffrey Epstein.

The ex-president was scheduled to testify at a closed-door deposition in the House Oversight Committee's bipartisan investigation into Epstein at 10am Tuesday but failed to show. Hillary was slated to appear on Wednesday.

House Oversight's Republican chairman James Comer promised to bring contempt proceedings next week, setting off a potentially protracted and politically fraught legal battle that would be the first time in history a sitting or former president has been held in contempt by Congress.

In an astonishing letter to Comer, the Clintons launched a broadside at Donald Trump and the Republican lawmakers carrying out his 'cruel agenda.'

They claimed a legal analysis proved they were not required to testify and insisted the subpoenas were an extension of Trump's 'weaponization' of the law.

'The Justice Department has been used as a weapon, at the direction of the President, to pursue political opponents. And most recently and searingly, an ICE agent killed an unarmed mother only days ago,' the Clintons wrote.

'Every person has to decide when they have seen or had enough and are ready to fight for this country, its principles and its people, no matter the consequences. For us, now is that time.'

The Clintons cited the precedent set by Trump in October 2022, when he defied a congressional subpoena demanding his testimony over the Capitol riot.
Perp walking the Clintons would be so satisfying, but alas, it will never happen. Remember Killary's declaration:

Trump urges Cuba to strike deal with US "before it's too late" after oil, money cut off from Venezuela

Trump Cuban flag
© UnknownUS President Donald Trump • Cuban Flag
U.S. President Donald Trump on Jan. 11 told Cuba that it should forge a deal with the United States now that Washington has pushed Venezuela to cut off its supply of oil and money to the communist-run island.

After the U.S. military captured Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro on Jan. 3, interim Venezuelan leader Delcy Rodríguez has redirected oil deliveries to the United States.

Cutting off Venezuelan oil supply to Cuba, which has historically relied on support from Caracas, would apply significant pressure to the Caribbean country, which has been under communist control since Fidel Castro's 1959 revolution.

Referring to the Cuban security forces who were killed during the operation to capture Maduro and bring him to the United States to face a federal indictment, Trump wrote on social media:
"Cuba lived, for many years, on large amounts of OIL and MONEY from Venezuela. In return, Cuba provided 'Security Services' for the last two Venezuelan dictators, BUT NOT ANYMORE!

"Venezuela no longer needs protection from Cuban security forces now that it has the United States, 'the most powerful military in the world' to protect its officials."

"THERE WILL BE NO MORE OIL OR MONEY GOING TO CUBA — ZERO! I strongly suggest they make a deal, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE."

Comment: Trump scare tactics are loud and clear. Cuba so far has few options. Desperate times, desperate measures...

Zelensky makes another move to avoid election

Ukraine's Vladimir Zelensky has submitted two draft bills to the parliament to extend martial law and general mobilization for another 90 days, effectively postponing elections once again. The move comes despite pressure from US President Donald Trump and the Ukrainian leader earlier saying he was open to holding an election.

One of the draft laws submitted to the Verhovna Rada on Monday would extend martial law from February 3 to early May, which would effectively bar national elections for this period. Martial law has been renewed repeatedly in three-month increments since 2022. The other bill would prolong the controversial forced mobilization campaign on the same timetable.

Comment: Of course this news is no surprise. We will see if the Rada passes these two bills.

Russia finally reveals Ukrainian target destroyed by Oreshnik hypersonic missile

oreshnik strike lviv lvov
The Oreshnik strike on Lvov was launched well within Russia, and reached its target 900 mile away in less than 15 minutes.
The NY Times had called it a warning delivered to Europe at Mach 10: "The message came screaming through the skies at 8,000 miles per hour. Early Friday morning, for just the second time since its all-out invasion of Ukraine, Russia fired a nuclear-capable Oreshnik missile — a hypersonic intermediate-range ballistic weapon that until recently was banned under international treaty," the publication wrote.

The Ukrainian side, along with some evidence available from circulating videos, pointed to a hypersonic projectile having been used against the far western Ukrainian city of Lviv, but the question of just what the Russians were targeting with such an advanced and devastating weapon remained an open one.

Russian state media and the military have officially disclosed the apparent target, however, and it reveals something about what type of targets Moscow is prioritizing, now nearly four years into the grinding 'special military operation' which it should be noted President Putin has still refrained from calling a full state of war.

Netanyahu says he wants to end U.S. military aid to Israel in the next 10 years

In a surprise announcement, Benjamin Netanyahu told The Economist magazine that Israel plans to stop receiving U.S. military aid in the next 10 years.

In an interview with The Economist, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that he would like to end the country's financial reliance on the U.S. government.

"I want to taper off the military aid within the next 10 years," declared Netanyahu. When asked if he wanted to eventually get that number down to zero, he said yes.

Netanyahu also told the magazine that Israel has developed "incredible capacity" as an economy, thus enabling the country to recalibrate its relationship with the United States.

The Prime Minister stressed that he wanted to maintain Israel's connection to the United States, despite the shift.

Comment: There is no 'err' in Neti's comments. It is a plan. Promises offer a façade without actualization, as also does Lapid's objection to what was said. A negative response creates a crux, a comparison, thus a validation for Neti's so thoughtful (see it to believe it) projection. And (sighing with relief) the U$ is duped again.

Over 10 years, according to current subsidy arrangements, Israel's normal take from the US will amount to a minimum $36B.

Trump signals 'very strong options' against Iran

Tehran has accused the US of stirring up the deadly protests in the Islamic Republic

US President Donald Trump has said his administration is considering "strong options" against Iran, which has been hit by deadly nationwide protests since late December. Tehran has described the unrest as a "terrorist war" stirred by the US and Israel.

Trump has issued a series of statements in recent days suggesting that the US is "locked and loaded" to intervene in Iran to support the people's quest for "freedom." He has vowed that the US will "start shooting" if the Iranian authorities open fire on the protesters.

On Sunday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian accused the US of interfering in the unrest. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi echoed the claim on Monday, describing the unrest as a "terrorist war" against the country.

Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One late Sunday:
"We're looking at it very seriously. The military is looking at it, and we're looking at some very strong options. We'll make a determination."

Comment: 'US and Israel created pretext for invasion' - Iranian FM Abbas Araghchi
Iran has extensive evidence showing the US and Israel had a "big hand" in recent unrest in the country, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told a meeting of foreign diplomats in Tehran on Monday.

The statement comes after violent clashes between protesters and the authorities erupted late last month, which have led to dozens of deaths among the Iranian security forces and civilian bystanders.

Multiple mosques, medical centers, and other buildings have been torched across the country.

According to Araghchi, nationwide protests "turned violent and bloody to give an excuse" for US President Donald Trump to intervene militarily in the country.
"We have many documents and pieces of evidence of US and Israeli involvement in the terrorist actions of recent days in Iran."
Araghchi added that armed operatives were seen among protesters asserting:
"Tehran recorded audio messages received by those terrorist operatives giving them orders to fire on protesters ... on security and police personnel ... [and on] peaceful civilians. Many of those killed received gunshots from behind. Tehran has substantial evidence that some operatives received direct orders from foreign powers. There is living proof that the US and Israel have a big hand in these terrorist acts."
Araghchi also claimed the infiltrators were aided by Israel's Mossad intelligence agency, noting that "Mossad operatives speaking Farsi ... [were] infiltrating these protests." He also criticized Western governments, saying they condemned Iran's police instead of the "terrorists."

The remarks come after Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed support for the protests that erupted in Iranian cities on December 28, marking the worst unrest in recent years. Protests escalated into clashes with police, assaults on government buildings, and demands from some demonstrators for the restoration of the monarchy. In response, authorities shut down phone networks and the internet nationwide.

Former Special Counsel Jack Smith confirms his utter contempt for the First Amendment before Congress

jack smith trump
© J. Scott Applewhite/AP PhotoFormer Department of Justice Special Counsel Jack Smith departs at the end of a Republican-led deposition before the House Judiciary Committee as part of its oversight into DOJ investigations into President Donald Trump, on Capitol Hill in Washington DC, on December 17, 2025
For years, some of us have argued that President Donald Trump's January 6th speech was protected under the First Amendment and that any prosecution would collapse under governing precedent, including Brandenburg v. Ohio. I was regularly attacked as an apologist for my criticism of Special Counsel Jack Smith's "war on free speech." I wrote about his history of ignoring such constitutional protections in his efforts to prosecute targets at any cost. I also wrote how Smith's second indictment (which the Post supported) was a direct assault on the First Amendment. Now, years later, the Washington Post has acknowledged that Trump's speech was protected and that Smith "would have blown a hole in the First Amendment."

In this appearance before Congress, Smith's contempt for the First Amendment was on full display. During his testimony, he was asked by Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) whether Trump was entitled to First Amendment protections for his speech.

Smith replied: "Absolutely not. If they are made to target a lawful government function and they are made with knowing falsity, no, they are not. That was my point about fraud not being protected by the First Amendment."

Comment: Further to Smith's failings, ZeroHedge reports
In 2023, then-Special Counsel Jack Smith's office approved a shady $20,000 payment to a confidential human source for information in the controversial FBI probe, code-named Arctic Frost, which investigated efforts by President Donald Trump and his supporters to challenge the 2020 election results, according to documents FBI Director Kash Patel turned over to Congress this week.

The documents outline the scope and methods of the investigation. An email shows that prosecutorial approval was communicated by Counselor to the Special Counsel, Raymond Hulser, on June 2, 2023.

The memo states the payment "was discussed by Raymond Hulser and Assistant Special Counsel Julia Gegenheimer with Special Counsel Jack Smith." An FBI agent reached out to Smith's office that same day, writing: "As discussed, request your office's concurrence in our proposed payment of $20,000 for CHS' provision of information in support of the investigation." Hulser's response was brief: "Concur, thank you."

Patel told Just the News that the revelation of the shady payment is the latest proof that the Arctic Frost investigation was an "egregious abuse of power and violation of the law."

The records show the FBI went all-in trying to make Trump himself a "subject" of the Arctic Frost probe, though that plan was ultimately shot down. The documents also reveal the bureau leaned heavily on liberal media reporting to build its case.

The number of people in Trump's orbit that were targeted by the investigation is also staggering. Phone data analysis extended to nine Trump allies in Congress, plus his lawyers and outside advisers. TV host Steve Bannon made an FBI list of at least 16 Trump associates whose long-distance phone records underwent scrutiny. Bill Stepien, Sidney Powell, Jenna Ellis, Cleta Mitchell, and the late former NYPD Commissioner Bernie Kerik also appeared on that list. Kerik had led a team of investigators focused on alleged irregularities in the 2020 election.

One memo shows the FBI analyzed calls from "more than 50 White House-issued cell phones," not counting Trump's and Vice President Mike Pence's personal devices. Arctic Frost secured an order from U.S. District Judge Boasberg allowing Smith's office to obtain phone records of eight U.S. senators and one congressman. That same order swept up information from hundreds of conservative figures and groups, expanding the scope far beyond the initial targets.

At least two members of Congress have vowed to sue the Justice Department. Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Sen. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee say the investigation violated their congressional privilege and privacy protections under the separation of powers. Other Republican lawmakers describe Arctic Frost's data collection as overly broad and insufficiently tailored. Critics in Congress say the probe resembled a fishing expedition rather than a narrowly targeted investigation, raising Fourth Amendment concerns.
