In the past few weeks, the U.S. president has taken various steps to solidify his power.
Intense protests were sparked by the federalization of the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia (Washington) and the deployment of the national army to the capital to combat crime, which, according to Trump, was out of control. There have even been several demonstrations against this in Washington. The District of Columbia is controlled by the Democrats, and in the last presidential election, the vast majority voted for Kamala Harris.
Trump announced his intention to send the
National Guard or even a unit of the armed forces to keep the order in Chicago and Baltimore, and then in New York. Needless to say, these cities are run by supporters of the Democratic Party.
Previously, the president fired the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, as he was displeased with the employment report. The press reports that an active supporter of the MAGA movement has been recommended to replace him.
Per Trump's recommendation, the Pentagon dismissed the deputy chief of staff for intelligence because he questioned, in his speeches, the president's claim that the bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities had been a complete success.
Trump spoke rather disapprovingly about the former national security adviser in his first administration,
John Bolton. The press reports that Bolton has prepared a book of his memoirs in which he describes in detail his service in the Trump government, and
censors have found passages in it that are interpreted as disclosing state secrets. The book is not being printed, and
the FBI has raided Bolton's office and home.
Trump is trying to rewrite historySome American newspapers report that
almost all those who took part in the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021 have been released from custody. Now they are all called "patriots". At the same time, information has surfaced about the beginning of
an investigation into some of the judges who sentenced these "patriots" to long prison terms.
Newspapers loyal to the Democratic party
portray Trump as a "dark genius who distorts reality" by rewriting history, for example by insisting that the 2020 election was stolen or remarking that the painful history of slavery prevents America from being "the hottest country in the world". According to journalists, Trump's whitewashing of slavery is the ultimate act of white privilege.
In his speeches, Trump has repeatedly criticized the head of the Federal Reserve (the U.S. central bank), although he himself suggested him for this post during his first term. Recently the president has spoken a lot about the need to reduce the discount rate to cope with debts more easily. However, the Fed chairman did not react; it was as if he did not notice the insistent appeals of the authorities, and only the other day he made it clear that in September he could respond positively to all these calls.
The Trump administration has launched
an investigation into key figures in four high-profile attempts to challenge the current president:
the Russia investigation, his first impeachment, January 6 and his personal criminal civil cases. At the end of July,
Tulsi Gabbard, U.S. Director of National Intelligence, presented declassified data on the possible
falsification of intelligence reports in the administration of
former president Barack Obama on alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, calling it
a "multi-year coup against Trump". According to her, new evidence has emerged showing the most
egregious use of intelligence for military purposes and its politicization in American history.
The Obama administration fabricated a deliberately false intelligence report from January 2017, promoting the lie that Vladimir Putin and the Russian government helped President Trump win the 2016 election.
The U.S. press regularly publishes a lot of materials about the Trump administration's pressure on universities. Some US universities are partially deprived of financial assistance from the state if their students or teaching staff participate in pro-Palestine demonstrations.
The measures taken by the current administration to deport illegal migrants are discussed daily in the American press, while attempts to challenge the expulsion of these illegal immigrants in some courts are widely reported. As is known, Trump ordered the construction of a high fence (several meters) on the border between the United States and Mexico, and in the first days of August, the media covered how this fence was being painted black so that asylum seekers would be stopped by the fence's heat.
Trump prepares for new elections in the United StatesSupporters of the Democratic Party are trying to organize protests in some states against Trump's plans to redistribute electoral districts.
Republican Governor of Texas Greg Abbott initiated the redistricting of electoral district boundaries so that Republicans would receive several additional mandates in the upcoming congressional elections, and fellow party members, who hold a stable majority in the state legislature (88 seats with a 150-seat lower house), would naturally support their governor.
American commentators state that during his presidential term, Trump has consistently attacked the media outlets that are opposed to him. The other day, Trump attacked two of the oldest U.S. television companies,
ABC and NBC, through his own Truth Social network, saying that these companies spread fake news and were the worst television networks in history, for which reason their broadcasting licenses should be revoked or they should be forced to pay a "large sum" (millions of dollars) for a licensed broadcast spectrum.
The US media loyal to the Democratic party are stepping up criticism of Trump every day, emphasizing that his destruction of internal institutions and inciting global chaos will eventually lead to isolation, instability and the division of the United States. It is noteworthy that some British publications associate share the same views. For example, the
Economist published several articles saying that Trump's introduction of new tariffs and his "capricious deals" are destabilizing not only America, but the whole world.
The combined actions of globalists inside and outside the United States have a definite impact on the countries of the Global South, where criticism of the Trump administration is rising. This is evidenced by articles in the Turkish press, materials from the Egyptian Al Ahram and reports from the Qatari Al Jazeera.
At the same time, even publications opposed to the current U.S. president cannot but admit that Trump is an extraordinary phenomenon in world politics. During his seven months in the White House, he did more than any other president during his entire term.
Trump has turned a traditional, geopolitical struggle into a geo-economic one, imposing tariffs on everyone who deals with "Uncle Sam" whether they are allies or competitors. As a result,
the usual global economic balance is disrupted, but the United States remains the world's strongest power, with a gross national income of $29.18 trillion. The US dollar has demonstrated resilience despite various cataclysms,
accounting for 58% of the countries' foreign exchange reserves (the Chinese yuan accounts for only 2%).
At a recent Cabinet meeting, which, by the way, was broadcast on television, all members of his team competed to praise the merits of Donald Trump, unanimously speaking in favor of him being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
