I often go on about cold air and Ankara is a typical example of where the cold air still demonstrates its influences.
At 1000hpa ( ground level ) all looks Dandy, usual hot temperatures courtesy of the position of the Sun over this area but climb a little higher up, up to 850hpa ( as one goes up in altitudes, hpa value comes down ) there's a presence of unseasonal cold air ( 10 degrees lower than normal @ 13c ) and with this is also much more humidity contianed within the atmosphere.
At 700hpa, things become colder still with a sharp temperature gradient over Ankara.
So the stage is set, heat from late Spring Sunshine warming up the land, whilst cold moisture rich air circulates up above, a perfect recipe for monsoon type downpours.
