The 1960 Hilo tsunami was caused by a 9.5 earthquake in Chile not a flank collapse on the other side of the Big island. It killed 61 people not "thousands".
Records which only date back to the 1860's onwards (as the Hawaiian islanders did not keep precise records) only record three locally generated tsunamis with the last one being in 1975 which killed two people. These three tsunami events did not cause any cross the Pacific tsunamis and were entirely local.
