The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF)
have seized the second largest oil field in the Deir Ezzor Governorate, the official Twitter account for the group announced on Tuesday.
According to the group, the Deir Ezzor Military Council took control of the Al-Tanak Oil Field in rural Deir Ezzor after expelling the Islamic State (ISIS) elements from the area.
As a result of this advance,
the Syrian Democratic Forces now control two of the largest oil field in Deir Ezzor.Previously, the Syrian Democratic Forces seized the Al-Umar Oil Field after the Islamic State's complete withdrawal from this area along the eastern bank of the Euphrates River.
Comment: 'SDF' credentials as an anti-ISIS force need to be re-examined:
US-backed Kurdish SDF continue to steal Syrian land, ethnic cleansing of non-KurdsThe Russian Ministry of Defense has
released evidence of US military cooperation with ISIS, which includes the fact that the 'terrorists' have been caught with 'anti-terrorist SDF' paraphernalia:
Sputnik further reports,
"According to the Defense ministry, such actions by the coalition prove that the advancing Syrian forces in the Abu-Kamal area have crippled the US plans to create a zone to the east of the Euphrates river that would be controlled by pro-American forces rather than by Damascus. The ministry noted that the plan stipulated that Daesh would play a role of pro-American forces disguised as the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). To support the claim, the military representatives said that SDF flags were found in Abu Kamal".
So where does the 'SDF' end, and 'Daesh' begin?
What chance they will give the oil fields back to the legitimate Syrian government? This must be what US War Secretary Mattis meant when he balked at the idea of US troops leaving eastern Syria. Why leave now, he said, when we're strengthening our hand in 'peace negotiations'?
Mattis hints at long-term US military occupation of eastern Syria, 'in case ISIS comes back'
