I have been reading reports out of the area which have overlapped military briefings because at one time the area contributed manufacturing, agriculture and bodies to the USSR. Since Yeltsin and the damage done by the IMF/World Bank, the area has been stripped of most of its manufacturing and educational facilities due to poorly overseen privatization and rape of resources. According to some, the area has come under Zionist control and is drifting towards becoming a second Israel; something that the Russians do not need. [Link]
