Can't take a joke: Trump offers to 'destroy' Texas senator, media goes ballistic

President Donald Trump casually threatened to "destroy" the career of a Texas state senator who suggested introducing a law that would require a suspected criminal's conviction before having their assets seized.

Trump was speaking with Sheriff Harold Eavenson of Rockwell Country, along with a selected group of other sheriffs who expressed support for his policies, to discuss immigration issues at the White House Tuesday.

Eavenson was complaining to Trump of a Texas senator who dared to suggest introducing legislation that would require a criminal conviction before "we can receive that forfeiture money".

"Can you believe that?" Trump interjected with a huff before Eavenson went on to clarify that he told the senator "the cartel would build a monument to him in Mexico if he could get that legislation passed".

"Who is the state senator, do you wanna give his name?" Trump asked. When Eavenson remained tight-lipped, Trump calmly offered to "destroy his career". The room erupted into laughter.

Civil forfeiture is a legal process in which law enforcement officers can seize assets from any person suspected of having involvement with a crime or illegal activity, without having to charge the owners of any wrongdoing.

Comment: Perfect example of the level of hysteria and sheer idiocy surrounding almost every word uttered by Trump. The Western media is all a flutter with headlines like:

"Trump offers to 'destroy' Texas senator"

and

"Trump says he'll destroy Texas senator's career"

I doubt there is anyone that is really surprised by this. The CS sheriff, who is apparently against the constitution, wouldn't give the guys name, why? Maybe, even in Texas, they're getting tired of this growing trend of criminality in government. Trump blathering on, without the least regard for what was (at one time) law, usurped by criminals, robbing anyone they can, for any reason. Just showing more support for the licensed criminal cabal and their tribute collection system.

zman Ok, after listening to the video a couple more times I have to say that Trump sounds as though he is annoyed at him. more than anything. At first, it seemed to me he was just being cavalier.

zman Well, looks as though I was right in the first place. I see that there were further articles, just not here (read at BLN) on this subject and Trump definitely came out saying that his saw no reason that the practice should be halted. So much for fighting for the people. Illegal search and seizure is just exactly that, ILLEGAL. He's going to fight big government for the people...as long as it does change the status quo. In all his blather, I have yet to see something really positive come forth. Screw the native peoples again at the behest of big oil, screw the common person ripped off by police, call for the same BS in Syria as Killery, keep helping KSA/Israel attack Yemen. Change? Where?
